Getting ready for the release! A new elite has been added to each world. The first one is a basic introduction to enemy projectiles, the second one revolves around good recall usage, and the third one does different things depending on the player build. Let me know how they feel :)
Here's the complete list of changes, that you might want to read thoroughly:
3 New Elite Fights, one for each World
Added one new secret achievement
Crystalline Amalgam now causes confusion after a crystal is destroyed Also slightly changed his brick layout Increased the Red Crystal reload time by half a second
Explosions no longer affects the direction of nearby balls, but still gives a movespeed increase Explosions also increase the speed of the Elemental Ball now (wasn't the case previously) Decreased Elemental Ball friction (takes longer than other balls to slow down to its base move speed)
Storm Level can be turned on/off by clicking the storm symbol in the hero selection menu
World Map can now be scrolled in the background when an upgrade menu is on screen
Moved the middle tree in the starter fight one pixel to the left for shady reasons
In a previous news post, we shared concept art for our upcoming map The Slaughterhouse, as well as some images of new assets. This time, we're updating you on the progress of the map environment itself, as well as some of the lore.
Nathan's Past
We know a lot of players like Nathan's backstory, and The Slaughterhouse reveals a bit more: in his early 20s, before training as a chef, Nathan worked at the slaughterhouse before quitting dramatically due to the psychological stress of the job, as well as mounting pressure from his fellow colleagues. In The Slaughterhouse, Nathan has returned to his first work place to summon Azazel and exact bloody revenge.
A Brutal Experience
With this map, our developers have been hard at work creating an experience that is focused on physical/body horror, and exposes the player to some shocking, bloody moments. The gritty, gory map design, assets and character models all contribute to this effect, as well as some truly spine-tingling voice acting, sound effects and ambient audio. The Slaughterhouse is also smaller than our previous map The Town, and hearkens back to the dark, claustrophobic feel of our original map, The Farmhouse.
We can reveal that there will be new mechanics, and players will definitely be kept busy working out how to put everything in place in order to defeat a demonically possessed Nathan. We'll share further details upon release. The Slaughterhouse will be a brutal map to beat in general, and whether you're playing co-op or solo, we're excited to see how you all approach it on the various difficulty levels. Check out the screenshots below for a taste of what to expect (click to enlarge):
The Slaughterhouse update will also introduce two new perks, a new flashlight, a new map collectable, and a variety of unlockable robes. Again, we'll reveal more info about these upon release.
Release Date
Currently, we are planning to release The Slaughterhouse in March 2023, if all continues to go smoothly. We can't give you an exact date yet because we don't have one, but we can confirm that we've entered the internal playtesting stage and that we're also working on a trailer. We'll update you with a precise release date as soon as we can.
Thank you for your continued patience as we prepare The Slaughterhouse for release. Your support really motivates us.
November… 1942. World War 2 ravages the globe in a bloody conflict for the very soul of humankind. Across the war-torn regions of the Mediterranean, the Axis powers of Germany and Italy control much of the theatre. But the mighty nations of the United States and Great Britain are on the move, launching a massive offensive —code-named Operation Torch.
But where will the secret Allied fleet choose to land its assault? Will they reclaim air superiority, control the sea, and gain a foothold in the underbelly of Axis-held Europe, or will Axis forces repel the Allies back in a storm of blood and fire?
Song for War: Mediterranean Theater is a tabletop strategy game based in the contested regions of southern Europe, north Africa, and the Mediterranean Sea during World War 2. Representing one of four nations, players must work together as the Allies (US or Great Britain) or Axis (Germany or Italy). Players have the option to set strategy, move units, attack and defend as individual nations or simultaneously as the Allied or Axis team. Innovative mechanics allow players to deploy their land, sea, and air units strategically as combined forces, with faster units moving first and more often, followed by heavy units with stronger firepower. Take strategic objectives, control shipping lanes and resupply, deploy new technologies and units, and recreate historical events to defeat the enemy and win the day.
