The New Year is upon us, as well as fresh Stable TML Bug Fix Series bringing polishing and a wagon of stability improvements. Happy New Year Terrarians!
tModLoader for Terraria v1.4.4, when?
Before we begin, we hope everyone has been having fun playing the new Terraria v1.4.4 update (Labor of Love). We know everyone is looking forward to mods having access to all of the new features. We'd like to remind tModLoader users that updating tModLoader to the v1.4.4 codebase will take some time, so please be patient.
We are committed to getting tModLoader updated to v1.4.4 sometime soon and we can see the end coming, but we can not guarantee when that will be yet. Much of the Terraria code has changed and we still need a bit more time test tModLoader and then give mod makers time to adapt their mods to those changes. If you are a mod maker and are interested in the migration to 1.4.4, please participate in our Discord development channels and on GitHub.
Thank you for your patience!
Bug Fixes
For this update, we are keeping it focused to bug fixes. Although we have new features and changes in the works, they all are primarily happening with 1.4.4. Please stay tuned for news on 1.4.4!
If the above doesn't apply or didn't help, try deleting the dotnet folder in the install directory, and try running TML again. There seems to be a bug with extracting needed libraries on some Windows devices, where it may take two attempts. We are actively investigating improvements to remedy this.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I switch to the 1.4-preview or 1.3-legacy branches of TML?
To switch to anoter branch in steam, just do the following: 1. Right click on tModLoader in Steam and select 'Properties...', then 'BETAS'; 2. Select the branch you want in the drop-down menu on top; 3. Close the window. You don't need to enter any passwords. I have a 32-bit OS, will it be supported?
Work is finishing up on improving our handling of native libraries, so we can add 32-bit Windows support. If everything goes well in testing, this will be pushed to the stable branch as soon as it is ready, with an announcement in our Discord.

Hi all,
Not only is the work on the visual update seeing outstanding progress, once release mission makers and the player will be able to choose the kind of weather/clouds they want represented in a mission.
From clear blue skies to complete overcast, with many options in between, you will be able to make your flying/fighting experience the way you want to experience combat in the sim.
MAJOR update on the game speed - the gameplay itself runs 30% faster than before, meaning MORE INTENSE ACTION! We felt this feature would give the game a lot more excitement to the gameplay!
Also added UltraWideScreen support for the game, so if you run the game on a Ultra Wide Monitor, it should now take full advantage of your Ultra Wide Screen monitor.
Other FX added to the enemies when they appear on screen for some eye candy. Other minor fixes & adjustments.
Hi! Lots of changes to the Sock It Demo have been made to improve the experience, with some more on the way. Here's the list:
Balance:
Nerfed the final segment of the running stage, now platforms are bigger, and the whole thing is designed more fairly
Nerfed Vince the Fridge's desperation attack to be a little easier to dodge.
Made it so, if damage is taken at all, the combo is lost. Now it is more challenging to get points.
Visual:
Added bullet trails to Ashley's introduction. Oooooh!
Removed sprite filtering, so now the image is more crisp
Added a slight rotation to bosses. Adds personality, and the effect of them being hit by a punch in the face.
Added rope physics to the ring. (Thanks so much to NeZvers). This change isn't too notable, but the rope
physics are being used more substantially in a future boss.
Improved graphics, such as running skull
Audio:
Fixed audio clipping in some instances
Bugs:
Fixed nasty softlock if the timer goes off with the Glass Cannon. Sorry!
Fixed Glass Cannon falling over in a muted fashion. Honestly kinda scary.
Other:
Overhauled tutorial animations. Now it's clearer how the game should be played based on how the punching bag behaves.

Arcane power flows through Kyros, and he can unleash this force to devastate his enemies. He's the last survivor of a forgotten civilization, a wizard who transformed his flesh into pure mystical energy. Though his people are long lost, he's sworn to keep the Gloom from destroying the world that remains.
BACKSTORY
There is a place known as the Kingdom of Ashes. Bones are scattered across beaches of black sand, and charred remnants of crystal spires still reach toward the sky. This has been a shunned ruin for thousands of years, but Kyros still remembers it as it once was, a glorious civilization whose achievements dwarfed those of the Avar Imperium or the Maze. He remembers studying the nature of reality itself, and even learning how to transcend his own flesh to become a being of pure mystical energy, bound to a skeleton of arcstone and crystal. While he possesses devastating power, Kyros is first and foremost a scientist. He is determined to stop the Gloom; he will not watch another civilization be destroyed. But he believes the key to defeating the Gloom is to understand it.
Kyros is a deadly warmage and a brilliant researcher. But he has been lost in the void for countless centuries, and there’s much he has forgotten or never knew. What became of his people? How did his wondrous nation become the Kingdom of Ashes… and did he have something to do with it? The answers must be out there, waiting to be found.
