The concept of cities came to me because I didn’t like the idea of Victoria 2, which is related to the fact that the more diverse the population of the province, the more diverse the goods the population produces. Is it possible to make it so that our residents are the same - of the same nationality, but they produce different goods? Thus the idea of cities was born.

Cities in different areas are suitable for life in different ways. In a zero city on Earth, 2500 inhabitants can live, on Mars - 50, and on the poles (planets of all types) - 300. There will be a bonus in the area - a "convenient place" that will increase this starting level.

To avoid micro-management, building on Earth will give you 10 city levels at once. Level 1 city will give a place to live for 1000 people, which will increase the starting level.

In Antarctica, building a city would be an expensive undertaking that investors might invest in once they have AI.

Common market.
We have a primitive diplomacy that allows us to somehow work with the common market.
The plus sign button includes in the common market, and the minus sign excludes it.


Some ideas.
I had the idea of worker-residents who would be hired by small businesses. According to the popular belief that small business creates a lot of jobs, maybe later I will return to this idea.

I also have an idea that a small business in a big city, let's say level 20, can produces 2 or even 3 types of goods. That is, there will be 2-3 POPs of the same nationality, but they will produce different goods. What do you think of it?

We will return to these ideas in the future.

What do I want to do in January?
In January, I will focus on the AI of residents and investors.

Residents will consider a variety of issues when moving to other locations. And they will be smarter to move to other strata.

The emergence AI of investors will mean that the game will gain some playability,
because the player will have competitors.

If there is time, I will redo the appearance of the characters.

Liftoff®: Micro Drones - LuGus Studios


2023 is finally upon us! Our goal for the year is that with a little hard work and a lot of coffee, we'll have this project wrapped up this year. And like any good wrapping, there's good stuff to be found inside!

The road to V1
The end of the road towards an official release is in sight! The following things are planned and in the works for the release version:
  • A scripted in-game tutorial system for new pilots.
  • A night-time variation of Sawdust Inc.
  • A track builder and Steam Workshop integration. Build and share racetracks with other players!
  • Empty versions of the existing environment for you to build in, including a "Drawing Board" style space.
  • A brand new environment, being teased in the blogpost banner ;)
  • General polish and fixes

When?
The items on the roadmap will become available as part of a few updates. As for the actual launch version, announcing a release window is like jumping off a cliff and hoping you'll fly... or at least that's what it feels like. But we feel bold and brave and will make a reckless "we hope for spring" statement.

More importantly, the V1 release is far from the end of the project, it's actually just the start really. We fully commit to supporting and updating the project after this V1 release, as we have done with our other Liftoff simulators.

We want to thank you all for supporting the Liftoff simulators. When Liftoff: Micro Drones launched in Early Access just over a year ago, we would not have imagined such a great and supportive response from the community. Thank you for being awesome!

Movement changes
  • We have completely reworked the formula for player movement and momentum. We now have unique formulas for 11v11 & 5v5 to provide a more balanced experience. In 5v5 the movement will be noticeably less, as we received feedback that it felt too extreme with high momentum.
  • Acceleration is now much more important when a player has low momentum. The speed attribute will dictate the max running speed and become more important with high momentum. Agility is only used for changing direction and does not impact the max running speed.

Faster turns
  • If only 1 user is on a team, the turn will end once an action is made rather than waiting the full 6 seconds. If the user has multiple characters, the turn won’t end unless all the characters have made a move or the 6 seconds have passed.

AI improvements
  • The GK characters controlled by AI should now position themselves better and make better attempts at saving shots. AI characters will no longer receive one touch & header actions incorrectly. The positioning of AI characters on kick-off should be more realistic depending on their position and the team formation.

Long shots
  • We have changed the logic in our match engine to calculate long shots. Previously it depended on the area of the pitch a shot was taken from. However, now it will be purely based on the distance from the goal.

Manager level pop-up
  • Fixed a bug with the manager level-up pop-up showing repeatedly after logging in.

Challenge mode
  • We now show a warning message if a user starts a challenge mode match without adding a character.

Hello there Pilots!

We hope you enjoyed the winter holidays, and that you've had many great matches now in Season 2 of Ultimechs. Today we adjusted the matchmaking in the game to accommodate for some inconsistencies we've noted now that we have more players in the higher ranks!

  • A minimum threshold for losing and gaining points in competitive has been added.
  • Winning and losing streaks have been adjusted.

To summarize, we saw a percentage of the games giving no points when either winning or losing matches with high contrasting ranks. Now all players should always gain or lose points when playing a competitive match.

Some of you may have noticed that winning and losing streaks have been added to the game. We added these in to make it easier and faster for players to get their correct rank. So should you have a similar result for several games, this will then affect the competitive points you get for your rank.
