IV. Limited-time Event: Score Bonus

Event Rules:
During the event, players receive bonus Score by completing matches in the [Ranked Mode].
Details of this Score bonus are as follows:
If you gain a positive number of Score within a match, it will be boosted by 25%.
If negative, however, you do not lose any Score. Every player has three chances of Score bonus per day while the event is still running.
Note:
(1) When activating Rank Protection or the Settlement Score is 0, the chances will not be deducted.
(2) Both [Score bonus] and [No Score Penalty] consume one chance.

Event Rules:
1. During the event, players can open the Troves to get event-exclusive [Frosty Coins] through the Ranked Mode, Quick Match, and BOT Mode. Up to 10 [Frosty Coins] can be obtained per day, which can be used to unlock the maze location in Frost-clad Journey during the event.
2. You can obtain Snowman-exclusive attributes, costumes and skills by exploring Frost-clad Journey. Continuously building up Snowman attributes, collecting Snowman costumes, and learning Snowman skills to win the event-only rewards.
3. Challenge the Snow Lord in H5 to win more gifts. If you fail to defeat the Snow Lord, you can let your Snowman continue to gain experiences and grow stronger in the maze of Frost-clad Journey.
4. Players can also get [Frosty Coin] by smashing the snowmen in preparation stage.

VI. Limited-time Event: Snowy Christmas Eve

During the event, player that has completed a Torchbearer event can get an extra and limited-time Torchbearer Gift, which includes Tianhai Legendary Accessory [Monk's Staff], [Spark Torchbearer Gift]. Only the player that invites others to do the Torchbearer event can get this gift and only once during the event time.
Completion of a Torchbearer event: friends who accept the invitation has purchased the game, bound the code, entered the game and reached Lv. 9 to open Torchbearer event.

VIII. Limited-time Event: The Hero Returns event is Coming Back

1. You are qualified to participate in The Hero Returns as long as you have not logged in for over 28 days since your last login.
2. Each round of The Hero Returns event lasts for 7 days which will be timed since your return date.
3. Complete the Hero Returns quests and get the Rebirth Seal, which can be used to redeem limited-edition rewards in the Rebirth Seal Store. You can also redeem the Rebirth Seal with Spectral Silk in the Spectral Silk Store.

Event Rules:
1. All players can tap the recall button in the event page to invite their friends who haven't logged in the game for more than 28 days to return with a maximum of 3 friends at the same time
2. After the players log in the game again, they can accept one of the invitations from their friends to make the recall completed.
3. The inviter will get rewards from an accepted invitation. If the player who has returned completes daily quests of The Hero Returns event, the inviter can get extra rewards. During this event, you can no longer send an invitation to a friend who has already recalled by you. And each player can recall 12 friends at most.
4. When the event expires, you can no longer send new invitations, but can still receive rewards. Your unclaimed rewards will be deleted when the event is removed from the event page.

I. Valda Cui
Within 1 sec after being freed from Dragon's Coil's bind under [Nether Nightmare] and [Nether Nightmare: Smite], enemies become immune to its binding. The rules are consistent to that of [Nether Nightmare: Bind]

II. Tianhai
Improved the performance of Vajra's posture when he stands without other motion.

Ⅲ. Tarka Ji
Duration of his ultimate [Blackout] is changed from 40 sec to 32 sec.
//Dev Note: Tarka Ji's durable ability makes him too forceful in the Realm of Yang of Solo and Duos modes. That's why we reduced the duration of his ultimate to ensure a more balanced combat.

1. Dharma-Ending Ruin Adjustments
(1) Adjusted the terrain of the Courtyard of Eventide Temple in Dharma-Ending Ruin to make monsters stuck less.
(2) Adjusted Mountain Ghost's behavior toward enemies on high.
(3) Optimized the combat moves of Mountain Ghost in Doom level.
2. Desert Tribulations Adjustments
(1) Now when an Evil-Ent Stronghold on any route of Desert Tribulations is cleared, an Enigmatic Rift that leads to the other two routes will appear at the first Evil-Ent Stronghold on each route.
(2) After players defeat Evil-Ents guarding the gate, they will get a random Buff item such as Attack Stone.
(3) In Nightscream level, Attack of boss [Stone Monster] is reduced by 29%.
3. Doom Adjustments
(1) In Racing level, Attack of [Omnius·Umbra Scorch] that appears in [Looming Shadow] Omen is reduced by 31%.
(2) In Racing level, Attack of [Omnius·Rock] is reduced by 30%.

II. Omen Adjustments
1. Spirit Erosion Adjustments
(1) When settled, one with Spirit Erosion will take high damage instead of directly running out of Health.
(2) Optimized the performance when Spirit Erosion is accumulated and settled.

III. Stone Monster General Adjustments
1. Greatly optimized combos and other behaviors of Stone Monsters in combats.
2. Lowered their strike frequency and attack tendency under all difficulties.
3. Degraded the attack performance of some strikes.

In-game Adjustments

I. Holoroth Map
1. Mehtaab Adjustments
(1) Reduced the depth of most rifts in Mehtaab.
(2) Adjusted the structure of the Temple of Light and Shadow and Parand Hall.
//Dev Note: according to the questionnaire about the map, we found that players made negative comments on the difference in height and complex routes of Mehtaab. We hope the above adjustments can improve your gaming experience.
2. Adjusted the location of some high-tier loots. Gold and Green Troves are now lumped in the center of the area.
3. Enlarged the selectable area of spawn points in Holoroth.
4. Many stories that happened on this land left a lot of traces. Added some cultural landmarks with regional characteristics to the City of Tang and Empyreal Village, etc.

II. Omni's Nightmare
Grappling Hooks carried by default when heroes are reborn after being defeated are increased to 6.

III. Bot Mode
1. Now when players enter the Realm of Yang, another team of AI opponents will enter it too.
2. Fixed the issue where AI opponents would stay in Shadow Corruption and be eliminated, instead of proactively searching for players, in the mid-late phase of the match.

IV. Mechanism Adjustments
1. Spikes
Added a 1-sec warning. Player who trigger the Spikes will suffer an attack after 1 sec, along with vibration sound effect and performance.

As 2022 comes to a close, we wanted to squeeze in one more update to help make the game a little easier for new players.

The so-called Big Boss Recalibration makes a number of changes to our current in-game bosses to make them easier for new players and also (possibly) a little more challenging for current players.

We hope you enjoy the update and we will see you in the new year!

Patch Notes:

General:
  • Camera zoom in boss fights has been tweaked, so it does not excessively favour looking at the bosses, limiting the visibility of the player.
  • Players can not be damaged anymore after landing a killing blow on a boss.
  • Both player ships now have a slightly faster recovery after force effects, especially the Manticore.
  • An active grappling hook is now always retracted when the player gets stunned.
  • Dealing a killing blow to a boss now properly destroys enemies that were in the process of teleporting in.
  • All UI interactions are now disabled until the screen has completely finished a transition-in effect (fade). This should alleviate any unintended button presses on the UI.
  • Player interactions are now disabled until the battle screen has completely finished its transition-in effect. This should alleviate any unintended skill uses at the beginning of combat.
  • The ‘meanwhile’ screen (Some time later…) present in certain events is now skippable by pressing a button.
  • Malfunction’s damage over time now ticks at the end of every second instead of at the beginning.
  • The Shooting Star’s item tooltip now correctly displays its energy cost.
Difficulty:
  • Realm difficulty levels were sometimes raised for the wrong reasons which made life more difficult for some players. We’ve reviewed the triggers for increasing realm difficulty levels (indicated by stars on the galactic chart). This should automatically lower the difficulty of a realm (when you start a new run) if you haven’t been able to consistently clear the subsequent realm.
Note: We’ll keep an eye out for your feedback on this one and adjust in the future if needed.

Dax the Deserter:
  • Dax is now less agile (turning speed has been decreased).
  • Dax now lunges forward during attacks. This increases his overall attack range, but can potentially be sidestepped more easily.
  • All cooldowns on Dax’s abilities have been increased.
  • Quick and perfect attack animations are more telegraphed and have longer windup.
  • Dax’s base damage has been increased to 7 (from 5).
  • Perfect attack now deals less up-front damage (10), but applies a malfunction that deals 5 damage over 5 seconds.
  • Dax is now more resistant to disorient effects and regains control faster when disoriented.
  • Dax’s hitpoints per armour have been increased to 60 (up from 50).
Note: overall these changes should hopefully make the encounter easier for beginners (it’s our first boss fight after all) due to the more telegraphed and dodgeable attacks. Also, coupled with a few other general changes, it should make the fight last a bit longer for the more experienced players as well.

Due to these changes, we hope that this fight would feel much more like a proper space duel now.

Warchief M’urdu:
  • The Warchief now keeps his horses on a shorter leash (number of chains reduced).
  • Warriors spawned-in by M’urdu now include only one elite instead of two.
  • The Warchief now has a restraining order against you (surprise addition to enemy spawns).
  • The Chariot’s harness no longer has a visible health-bar, only an energy barrier bar. When you destroy the energy barrier, a timer ring is displayed instead of the health-bar that fills up until the barrier is recharged again.
  • The Chariot’s Harness now tries to actively avoid situations when it can not reach the player, but the player can damage the Chariot.
  • Malfunction can now be properly applied to the harness of M’urdu’s chariot.
  • M’urdu’s Blast-O-Mats now can be taunted by the Manticore’s Holo-Decoys.
  • The Chariot’s visual appearance got a facelift.
  • Added sound effects to the sawblades of the Harness and the Chariot.
  • Fixed Murdu’s ballista aiming at seemingly random locations instead of the player.
  • Fixed Murdu’s ballista not acting while being stuck in an animation-loop.
  • Fixed some visual inconsistencies with Murdu’s purple projectiles.
  • Fixed an issue where the Chariot wouldn't change phases while being taunted by the Manticore’s Holo-decoy.
Note: we hope that by giving the Warchief’s harness better visual clues on how it behaves, conveys a clearer idea for players on how to approach this fight more successfully. We’ve also ironed out a few wrinkles in the behaviour of both M’urdu and his allies, which will hopefully result in an encounter that feels less unfair for beginners and more challenging for the experienced players.

The Endkeep:
  • Animations are now significantly faster when the Keep changes from one phase to another.
  • The Endkeep will always spend a minimum time in each of its phases.
  • When the Endkeep changes phases, it prefers some privacy. Prepare to be pushed if you don’t respect it.
  • Reinforcement bastions now spawn more Warriors and Archers, less Acolytes and no Dischargers.
  • Enemies now navigate much more fluently around the Endkeep and follow the player ship more effectively.
  • Gaps between Keep bastions have been closed, so enemies are less likely to be stuck there.
  • Enemies are now more effective at avoiding the Endkeep’s bastions when aiming long-range abilities, or charging attacks.
  • Endkeep bastions can now properly receive malfunction.
  • Endkeep bastions can now always be properly stunned by area effect skills, such as the Shock Thumper.
  • The damage of the Endkeep’s catapult explosions have been drastically reduced (from 20 to 5), speed of projectiles slightly increased and their stun time slightly reduced.
  • Enhanced the quality of some of the visual and sound effects associated with the Endkeep. As a result it’s hopefully more clear now which parts of the keep are destructible.
  • Fixed animation issues with the Reinforcement bastion being stunned while spawning an enemy.
  • Fixed an issue with the tooltip display very quickly switching between targets, when the Reinforcement Bastion was spawning an enemy.
Notes: the Endkeep is by far our most complex enemy/scenery in the game thus far, and our other enemy ships had to ‘learn’ their way around it. Hopefully, we’ve been good teachers and they will provide a greater and more consistent enemy force. The keep is currently the final boss of the current content in the game, so our goal here was to make it challenging while keeping the fight as clear and fair as possible. We hope that partially denying phase-skips is a step in the right direction. Let us know what you think!

Heya, as a big end of the year gift, I want to give an update on how I Hate You, Please Suffer - Complete - is going!



The first two of the last batch of quests (as well as the alternative version of the first) are basically done! The first quest has you restoring a lighthouse, which Devon has a vested emotional interest in. The second quest involves bringing in other NPCs for a whole big adventure investigating some weird petty crime, and Kyrie sure does hate crime.

A big thing with the second quest is that it introduces NPC helpers that has the chance to pitch in moves at the end of every turn. Plus, losing while they're in the party allows you to keep going - and in fact, boss fights will have different outcomes if you lose. The main challenge I had with this part of the game is balancing things so that NPCs have their presence felt and are helpful, but not too helpful to carry fights.



Why the NPCs? Well, a major idea I want to express in this game is that the main party isn't the heroes. They're heroic, (mostly), but they aren't the main characters of life. Other people are also on that adventuring hustle, and Ramona's ultimately just trying to establish a new normal for herself. In fact, to emphasize this, some tasks in the game are locked off at certain points, because well, some other adventurer did it already. It's not all about her.

But what if you do want her to be the main character of life? Well, that's what that alternative route is for. As opposed to the open world of trying to make money and pursue whatever JRPG tasks suits your fancy, the alternative route takes that last batch of quests and puts them on a linear route with a bunch of divergences from the normal game, railroading you toward a different kind of experience.



The last big area in the game available has also opened up! Going north from the harbor takes you to the beach, where you'll find a new assortment of things to do, including this completely normal building and the aforementioned lighthouse. While there's still a bunch of things I want to change or add, the last big maps that's going to be made for the game are the quest-only dungeons and the final floors of the Tower, where maybe Ramona can find some kinda closure for herself besides paying her rent and buying her way out of her lease.



In a major mechanics change, exhaustion is now a thing. Every battle/death makes your characters sleepy. It will eventually reach the point where they start developing Exhausted at the start of every battle. The only way to avert this is to get your ass in bed. Be responsible about sleep though! Sleeping too soon since the last time you slept in will make characters Sluggish, and while it's not as bad of a debuff as Exhausted, you probably wouldn't want that.

(I thought about doing a thing for hunger too but it's really annoying how using an item in the menu that has an event connected to it kicks you out of the menu entirely, so screw that.)

In another change, Uzbek's bar has also been updated! He'll now convert the stat raising pills you find into drinks that will remove the health draining problem downing random drugs will have. I figured that the bar is really unused, so I figured that I change it to something that will be more generally useful.









You may wonder, "when will I finish this game?" Well, I wonder that, too. Besides the game really expanding past my initial scope, I have a lot of real life things to deal with, along with my obligations to Indie Hell Zone. Sometimes, I feel like I'm destroying myself between all my wants and needs. But that's okay!! Hopefully this game will be successful enough for me to quit my shitty day job and establish a new life for myself, right!??? Developing this game totally isn't me crafting a world of wish fulfillment and developing a sense of control over my life!!!!

Anyway, I'm hoping to finish this game in 2023. Thank you.

ALSO I dunno if you played it, but I made a short separate game during the summer when I was fucked up with Covid. It's called Hand of the Goddess and it's a completely normal game. It's on itch but it's not on Steam yet. Maybe give me $100 so I can upload this here.
