EVE Online - EVE Online
Festive capsuleers,

The holiday season is coming to New Eden, and with it returns the ever-popular Winter Nexus series of events and rewards from 15 December 2022 until 3 January 2023! There is also a stuffed calendar of in-game updates and improvements to further spread the holiday cheer.

Whether you’re logging in daily to grab your free gifts as part of the 13 Days of Nexus, enjoying the introduction of multiple overviews and updated Photon UI elements, or admiring new corp and alliance emblems on your ships, there’s something for every capsuleer in EVE this winter.
WINTER NEXUS – VOLATILE ICE STORMS
The roaming Volatile Ice Storms will once again provide exciting and unique Wightstorm combat, mining, and hacking sites with awesome rewards across highsec, lowsec, and nullsec. Be sure to use your variety of Ice Storm Filaments from the daily login rewards or loot drops to transport yourself directly to (and from!) the action.

The Wightstorm combat sites will be most challenging – and rewarding – in lowsec space, followed by the nullsec and highsec varieties. The same goes for the hacking and mining sites, and you can expect last year’s Yoiul Festival and 13 Days of Nexus reward SKINs - plus the unique Yoiul Clone trinkets - to drop as loot at these sites for the 2022 event!

Keep in mind that you’ll be able to take advantage of special bonuses inside the Volatile Ice Storms, allowing you to overheat your modules for longer. That should keep the fire burning throughout your enemies’ hulls this winter!
WINTER NEXUS – 13 DAYS OF NEXUS
Getting into the holiday spirit of gifting, the 13 Days of Nexus daily login rewards will once again provide free Skill Points, new Aurora Universalis SKINs, Expert Systems, Ice Storm Filaments, and more from 15 December until 3 January 2023. This year the 13 Days of Nexus login rewards for Omega pilots also include up to 20,000 EverMarks, which you can exchange for corporation and alliance emblems on ships. Omegas will also receive up to 510,000 Skill Points! Log in on 13 of the 19 days of the Winter Nexus celebrations to grab all the rewards!

WINTER NEXUS – YOIUL FESTIVAL & CHILLING SPREE
In addition to the above, the Winter Nexus also includes the daily and seasonal challenges that provide even more rewards for taking part. The Yoiul Festival seasonal challenges and rewards will allow you to unlock more boosters and new Aurora Universalis SKINs for completing activities within Volatile Ice Storms, and the Chilling Spree will offer up Skill Points for hitting fellow capsuleers with snowballs daily!

WINTER NEXUS – ABYSSAL PROVING GROUNDS
If slinging snowballs at each other isn’t enough, you’ll also be able to go nose to nose with your fellow capsuleers in dedicated Abyssal Proving Grounds events, themed around the special Ice Storm environment! You’ll have new opportunities to overheat your modules for longer and get a bigger speed boost from afterburner modules too!

Here are the different formats you’ll be able to tackle throughout the festive season:
  • Yoiul 1v1 T1 cruisers - 16-19 December
  • Yoiul T1 destroyer 4-player free-for-all - 30 December - 2 January

MORE CORP & ALLIANCE EMBLEMS
Following the successful debut of corporation and alliance emblems on over 100 ships with the launch of the Uprising expansion, on 15 December Paragon will make those emblems available on a further 186 ships! These include all remaining frigates, destroyers, cruisers of all tech levels, Tech I mining barges and exhumers, and non-capital industrial ships. Remember, as an Omega, you get more EverMarks for every Paragon agent mission completed, and you’ll get up to 20,000 EverMarks during the 13 Days of Nexus to use on these new emblems!

PHOTON UI UPDATES
As part of the ongoing EVE Evolved initiative, the Photon UI has undergone a number of updates this holiday season to give players a more modernized in-game interface to enjoy. Be sure to check out the summary of those improvements up to November for more info.

In addition, since this time of year is about getting what you’ve asked for, the much-requested introduction of multiple overview windows in EVE is now live in-game! The overview is an essential tactical tool and allowing multiple instances of it will mean that you can tailor the presented information to your chosen playstyle in a more precise way than ever before. Speaking of which, don’t forget that a new default overview based on the popular Z-S Overview pack is now available to all players, too!

Further updates to Photon UI include settings for window margin size, updated security colors, transparency controls, and an auto UI scaling option.

Due to the number of changes and improvements made since the opt-out release in October, we have reset the opt-out state of all clients. If you still wish to use the classic UI instead, you will need to opt out again.

UPDATES FOR NEW PLAYERS
As part of the ongoing improvements made to help fresh capsuleers enter the universe of New Eden more seamlessly and find their path, career agent mission updates have arrived just in time for the holiday season. This includes UI guidance improvements throughout the Industrialist paths, tweaks to mission objectives, reward rebalancing, more clarity in mission text, and more. One of the main outcomes has been an observed rise in the new player completion rate for these missions. With today’s release, you will continue seeing improvements such as these made to career agent missions.

In addition, an introductory short mission has also been added to guide players through the ship personalization process. The journey incudes being introduced to IRIS, receiving a Paragon gift crate, assembling and boarding a destroyer, learning about the PLEX Vault and wallet, then purchasing, redeeming, and activating a SKIN through the ‘Personalization’ tab. Be sure to check out the patch notes for full details.

Furthermore, the AIR Career Program will see an update later this week with better visuals and usability changes that will improve the experience of new capsuleers.

RESOURCES REALIGNED
Following the recent discovery by Upwell Consortium Corporations, new ores can now be found distributed in close proximity to some type A0 blue stars. These resources have appeared mainly in nullsec and wormhole space, specifically the following asteroid types:
  • Ducinium - contains deposits of Megacyte
  • Eifyrium - contains deposits of Zydrine
  • Mordunium - contains deposits of Pyerite
  • Ytirium - contains deposits of Isogen
This increases the amount of ore in the universe, offering more opportunities for capsuleers to get their hands on valuable industry materials.

Alongside the above, the maximum moon mining yield has been reduced by 25% – striking a balance between necessary conservation and last year’s doubling of extraction yields. More details can be found in the Resources Realigned article.

WINTER NEXUS OFFERS
To celebrate this season of festivities, the new Winter Luminae Pack will be available from 15 December to 3 January in the EVE Store, featuring 13 Yoiul-inspired days of Omega time, 250 PLEX, 100,000 Skill Points, Luminae Polaris SKINs for the Cruor, Succubus, and Garmur, and an Advanced ‘Boost’ cerebral accelerator.

Also in the EVE Store, between 16 – 21 December, you will be able to get 20% off PLEX packages of 500 and up, plus free brand-new Luminae Polaris SKINs for the Phantasm, Barghest, Nightmare, and more with 1000 PLEX packages and higher.

The in-game New Eden Store (NES) will also be providing irresistible Winter Nexus offers, including the Yoiul Stormchaser Pack from 16-21 December, which features 3 months of Omega time, the Yoiul Star SKIN for all three Sisters of EVE ships, plus Men and Women’s Yoiul Stormchaser Suits.

Also available in the NES, all the other Yoiul Star SKINs will return at 20% off from 15 December to 3 January. Make sure you stock up and show off those SKINs, especially as the charge will build up incrementally and then project a star from 25 December onwards.

If all of that is not enough to sate you this season, for a limited time, any purchase you make in the EVE Merch Store will come with a free SKIN bundle for the character of your choice.

The SKIN bundle includes:
  • Rokh Aurora Universalis SKIN
  • Gila Aurora Universalis SKIN
  • Jackdaw Yoiul Star SKIN
  • Oracle Yoiul Star SKIN
Check out the main EVE Merch Store or EU Merch Store and treat yourself or a friend. The offer expires at 23:59 UTC on 24 December, so don’t miss out!

This time of year is synonymous with reflection, so it’s the perfect opportunity to mention that the 2022 end of year EVE Online video will be coming next week and will highlight collective capsuleer achievements in New Eden. In addition, if you subscribe to our mailing list, you will receive an email containing some of your own personalized 2022 EVE Online statistics!
Planet Zoo - JensErik_Frontier
Hayo Zookeepers!

It's time to venture into the tall grass to see what wild animals we can find there, with the Planet Zoo: Grasslands Animal Pack and free update 1.12, both out now! Grab the pack on Steam now, and don't forget to update your game to be able to enjoy the new free content!

Let's meet the lovely animals you can add to your zoos with this new DLC pack: the Nine-Banded Armadillo, with its extraordinary armour; the Maned Wolf with its impressively long legs; the curious Emu, with its recognisable grey plumage; the agile and elusive Caracal; the remarkable Red-Necked Wallaby; the scavenging Striped Hyena; and the striking Blue Wildebeest. In addition to these Habitat animals, colourful flying butterflies can now be added to your Walkthrough Exhibits: Menelaus Blue Morpho, Cloudless Sulphur, European Peacock, Old World Swallowtail, and Monarch butterflies. Your guests will truly be amazed when going through a walkthrough Exhibit filled with butterflies!

The storyline that was started in the Twilight Pack continues in the Grasslands Animal Pack with a brand new Campaign Scenario. You'll be helping a sanctuary in the Argentinian grasslands care for their animals, whilst helping a certain someone learn how to best care for their animals. You'll have to contend with the needs of many different species as you work your Zookeeper magic to make the place into a shining beacon of animal conservation. We know you're up to the task!

This new Career Scenario follows after the Career Scenario from the Twilight Pack, and we are incredibly excited to continue this narrative! Don't worry though, you won't have to have played the previous Career Scenario to follow the story, and you can jump in completely fresh if you want to.

The Planet Zoo: Grasslands Animal Pack is available now on Steam for £7.99 ($9.99, €9.99). Don't forget that you need the base game in order to play the new content!

Update 1.12 is also out now, and is free for all players to install. Let's talk about what you can expect from this new game update.

The free update comes with several exciting new features, including Guided Zoo Tours, a new Diorama Mode, and a new Bulldozer Delete tool. You can read more about the free update in the announcement post, or check the full update notes below, but we'll share the highlights here too.

Your guests will get to see the best parts of your zoo with the new Guided Zoo Tours, a brand new way to offer guests more in-depth information about the animals in your zoos. Members of staff will guide your guests through the zoo, educating them on life at the zoo and the animals who live there. The tours are completely customisable, letting you plot your guests' journey through your zoo – from the Habitats and Exhibits, to the shops and food stalls – using special Tour Points.

The VIP treatment also means more opportunities to earn additional income for your zoo! Guests will have to pay a tour fee in addition to the zoo's ticket price, and will also be spending money to take care of their needs during the tour. Their desire to spend money relates to how much they've been enjoying your tour, so make sure it's a memorable one!

Want to make a cool diorama style zoo, but don't know how? With the new Diorama Mode, we've done the basic setup for you, making you free to build the perfect diorama any way you'd like. Choose your region and biome, and then you're off to the races on a pre-generated block of land. This mode was inspired by the amazing Rudi Rennkamel, who kicked off a popular trend of making Sandbox dioramas in Planet Zoo.

Last, but not least, we wanted to highlight the new Bulldozer Tool, which makes it easier than ever to remove large swaths of your zoo at once. This new tool will not only let you remove multiple items at once, it will also let you select what you want to remove. Do you need to get rid of all the paths, bins, benches, and decorations in an area, but want to keep other building pieces, shops, and enclosure fences? Just select the right options from the menu, move the bulldozer over what you want to destroy, and it will take care of the rest. 🚜

Check the full set up Update Notes below for more information on the bug fixes and changes coming with Update 1.12!

We are incredibly excited to see how you integrate these new animals, and gameplay features, into your zoos. Don't forget to join us for a launch livestream later today, on Twitch or YouTube, at 16:00 GMT.

PSA: Please expect approximately 5 minutes of downtime for German Worlds after the game update at 11.30 GMT. We're carrying out a quick reboot for essential maintenance work. We'll keep you updated via the Game Status Page if this work takes longer than expected. Thanks for your patience!

Dwarves sure do love their ale, but this year we're hearing that they want to celebrate the season with something a little more festive.... It's time for the Old School Christmas event 2022!

As we wrap up for the holiday season, this festive update will be the last one until January 11th. See you on the other side!

https://youtu.be/WadwM6TqXJk

Check out this awesome trailer, featuring Mod Ash, to find out about this year's Christmas event!

Getting Started

Begin the event by speaking to Guss Mistletoad. You'll find Guss hanging around the red carpet on the road connecting Barbarian Village to Falador.

Between the road connecting the Barbarians to Falador, you'll see Santa's given the landscape a gorgeous Winter makeover!

This ambitious Dwarf has set his sights on the hottest pub for NPCs - The Nutcracker. It's an exclusive spot with festive drinks, treats and more. It's all he's ever dreamed of. But there's one problem.... Santa won't let him in!

Being exclusive and all, the Nutcracker is only accessible to those who prove their worth in a series of challenges known as Santa's Festive Games! Impress Santa and you'll get access to his secret tavern. If you don't, you'll be joining the long queue of NPCs trying to get in!

Mod Halo, the developer of this year's Christmas Event, would like to say a few words:
#Discussions_QuoteBlock_Author

Message from Mod Halo (developer of 2022's Christmas Event)

Hey 'Scapers! Thought I'd write a few lines for you all after releasing my first project for OSRS! Exciting stuff! As many of you know, I've been working as a QA on the team for quite some time, on projects like Tombs of Amascut. I wouldn't be where I am today without that team - they work exceptionally hard! Moving over to the design team has made for an incredible couple of months so far, and I've had a blast constructing this event for you all. Christmas events are so iconic for Old School and to be able to make one is simply amazing! I went to the extra effort of giving some of the characters their own lore too. I hope Mod Ed will be proud. Spacebarring not allowed!

While I'm here, I'd love to give a quick shout out to the Art team. They have done a stellar job not only with the rewards but with a brilliant new environment. They never miss!

I can't wait to be a part of some REALLY awesome projects coming next year. Stay passionate, and I'll meet you in the Nutcracker for a swift half...

Thanks Halo! It's also worth noting that all of the minigames in this year's event will be replayable, so you can stay in the festive spirit yourself, or stick around to cheer on your friends. PvP is also enabled inside the Nutcracker Pub on DMM and PvP worlds, with relevant restrictions on entry if you were to enter an instanced version.

There are some fantastic new rewards to be earned through this year's Christmas event. We'd like to highlight a couple of them in this newspost... but we'll let you discover the rest!

Nutcracker Outfit

The Nutcracker Outfit has two styles. Each piece can be changed with the 'Change Style' option, both in the Inventory and when worn.

Could you see yourself Bankstandin' at the Grand Exchange wearing this?

Seasonal Backpieces

Have you been naughty or nice this year? Be honest...

Winter Summit Recap

We held our Winter Summit last Saturday, on the 10th December! If you tuned in, we'd like to say a huge thanks - especially if you're a football fan! The feedback on the stream and our roadmap has been incredibly positive so far. We're really excited to work with the community using our new polling system, involving players right from the very start.

If you missed the Winter Summit - not to worry! We've compiled a top-level summary for you in the Winter Summit Summary blog.

Additionally, you can catch the full stream VOD below. Make sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments below and tell us what you're most excited for!

It's what you've been waiting for! Old School's content roadmap. Hype! Please note, the Wilderness Boss Rework is still planned for early 2023.

Recent Downtime

A note on the recent downtime players experienced on December 10th that led to us performing a game-wide rollback.

As you are aware, issues occurred over the weekend and our team worked tirelessly to get game services back up and running. Our priority has been to get players back in-game, ensure our services are running correctly, and then we had the Winter Summit to focus on.

We're also aware that players have reported issues with lost items following the rollback that occurred.

Now we're back in the office, we're investigating what happened and if there is anything we can do for those who lost items. We want to assure you that when we're able to, we'll provide more information as to what caused the issues and what we're doing going forward to help prevent them from happening again, and to better protect our players should we need to.

Thank you for your continued patience.

More Changes

With it being Christmas an' all, you'll now see pets and some Bosses strolling around Gielinor in festive hats.

Poll 77

We have created a 'Buy all that you can afford' button on the Grand Exchange, which automatically sets the quantity to the maximum number you can afford. There will also be a warning message when placing a buy offer that's more than 10 times the guide price, or a sell offer that's lower than 10% of the guide price. This can be disabled in your Settings menu.

Poison Dynamite

We've corrected an issue where a single-placed Poison Dynamite bomb did not explode correctly. We've also enabled Poison Dynamite to work on the guard dog in the Priest in Peril Quest.

Quest Speedrunning Balancing Changes

We've been monitoring the latest quests (A Taste of Hope and Temple of the Eye) which were added to the Quest Speedrunner last week. At the moment we feel they are substantially easier than any other quest. As such, we have decided to update the times required to better reflect their difficulty relative to speedrunning. Please see these updated times below.
  • A Taste of Hope
    • Bronze - 44:00
    • Silver - 35:00
    • Gold - 29:00
    • Platinum - 26:00
  • Temple of the Eye
    • Bronze - 19:00
    • Silver - 17:30
    • Gold - 16:30
    • Platinum - 16:00

Other

  • Fixed a bug with the 'But... Damage' Combat Achievement so items of level 75 or above are no longer usable.
  • Fixed a bug with the 'Perfect Wardens' task which did not account for Obelisk attacks as intended.
  • Players can once again rub the Camulet in their inventory to teleport without having to equip the Camulet first.
  • The Elven Scout who provides Ilfeen's services during her absence in Song of the Elves was overcharging players who hadn't used Ilfeen's services before. You should be charged the right price now.
  • Mapped purgatory for that whole area.

PvP Rota

The PvP rota has moved to Period A:
  • 539 - (US) - PvP World
  • 548 - (Germany) - High-Risk PvP World
  • 577 - (US) - Free-to-Play PvP World
  • 559 - (UK) - LMS Competitive

World 390 (AUS) for LMS Competitive has been activated[/b] with this rota.

The PvP Arena is using 'Max/Med' loadouts in Ranked Duels and Tournaments at the time of this newspost going live. However, the PvP Arena will switch to 'Zerker' loadouts on Wednesday December 14th.

Autonauts vs Piratebots - CosmicRaccoon
We’ve added and updated a few things to make Autonauts vs Piratebots the best it can be!

Fixed:
  • Aaron pop-up after dismantling structure that needs gold to build
  • Flipping a pallet and putting it on top of an un-flipped palette would cause the bottom palette to have 2 different access tiles instead of 2 the same.
New:
  • A Bot's inventory can now be seen while looking at the Brain.

Greetings hunters!

We’ve just pushed a new hotfix live on PC that aims to resolve some of the issues you’ve encountered since New England Mountains & the Granite Update’s launch.

Patch Notes

  • The Great One Moose are now more likely to spawn with Great One exclusive fur variations.
  • The default keybind for placing a waypoint using the binoculars with a controller has been changed to Y/Triangle. It previously clashed with the bind to spot animals.
Dev Team’s Notes: You may have to reset your controller keybinds for this change to take effect.
  • Need Zones discovered while playing solo should now persist after joining a multiplayer session.
  • Players should no longer crash when teleporting to specific locations in various reserves.
  • The dog should no longer become unresponsive after the player dies and respawns.
  • The UI keybinds (for keyboard and mouse) should now save properly between sessions.
  • Players should no longer lose the ability to leave water blinds after harvesting an animal (or be ejected from regular blinds).
  • Players should no longer get stuck waiting for the Weapon Customization Screen to load (however, it may take up to 20 seconds).
Our goal with this hotfix was to address the most pressing issues the community encountered after our latest update. Of course, our work doesn’t stop there and we’ll continue to work on other issues players have encountered during their sessions. We’ll share a definitive list of Known Issues later this week.

We’d like to thank theHunter’s community for their incredible support since New England Mountains’ launch. We’re humbled by your feedback and proud that you’re enjoying this new reserve so much!

Happy hunting!
