Cyclone - Reepblue
Since releasing in Early Access in June, one of the things that received feedback on was how input was managed. Although Cyclone shipped to allow players to bind keys to actions, the end result wasn't really intuitive.

The entire system was made from the ground up polling key and mouse events directly from WinAPI instead of the engine's API. This will allow more fine control over it and better address any issues going forward. Today I'm happy to announce that you'll be able to now easily bind keys and buttons to actions via a GUI application!

The Key Mapper application has now been replaced with Action Mapper. You can find this application in the root game directory.



The input system relies on Window's Virtual Keyboard and what Action Mapper does is listen for the value of whatever key you pressed on your keyboard. Mouse sensitivity, look inverse and more can also be changed within this application. You might also notice you can assign controller buttons as well. While it's supported, Steam Input will override this and is left in as a fallback controller solution.

Mouse look now takes raw mouse data and converts it into an axis. This provides a much smoother experience than checking how much the cursor moved from the center each frame. The calculation also is independent on game speed so it should not feel choppy.

A splash screen has also been added showing logos, and legal information among other small changes. No changes have been made to assets or maps.

As we're still in Early Access, your feedback is appreciated. If any issues occur that prevent you from playing Cyclone, please let me know via discussions or join my discord server, You can also roll back to the previous build by opting into the "previous" branch.

There are big plans for 2023 involving new content and more improvements. In the meantime, expect smaller follow up patches and fixes after this update.

Tutorial :
I finally decided to add a tutorial to the game. Some players find the game too difficult, it's true that there have been a lot of additions that make the game more complex.
The tutorial should allow new players to get familiar with the controls smoothly, but also giving you more time to select the good settings for the game.

Localized tutorial :
I learned 7 languages in 1 week to make the tutorial even more accessible ... It's obviously a lie, I used a translator, so there are probably many mistakes but it should be understandable (I hope).
You can always switch back to english in options or ask for a correction on Discord or Steam.
The game should also detect the OS language and select the correct one in the first launch (not for those who have already launched the game).

Achievements :
Finishing the tutorial unlocks the very first achievement, and there is a bonus achievement for the brave ones.

Others :
Removed particles effects if "special effect" is on low settings.

What next ?
I'm going to work on a new game mode based on parkour that can be done solo (without bots) or with other players as I said before.
A sort of challenging gameplay with achievements to unlock.
This should increase the playing time and compensate for the lack of players.

More information

I have read many comments about proximity chat sometimes not working, I have been looking at what was happening and I have realized that the servers that Maurice: In The Predator's Nest uses for voice chat, do not support the player traffic that the game is having at the moment...

I will try to solve this as soon as possible, although for the moment improving these servers is an expense that I cannot afford right now, I am very sorry, I really hope that you I can try to find a way to do it.

Mercenary Leto - Summer




MAJOR -

Audio work : all sounds should be in the mixer (okay I missed three sounds, cut me some slack...). Leto jump, charge, dialog... all of it.
They were also optimized via an Object Pool, so that's nice!
Fixed some memory leaks with charging bullets and said audio blips.





Scripting work -

John Mule Cutscene - Comforting Lily cutscene flows a bunch better.
Valuna Cutscene - the cutscene for when you meet Scylla was cleaned up.
John Mule Cutscene - when Issac first attacks - Scylla has a few more animations and some of the dialog has been tightened there. Her tail wags when she is mad. Very cute.
John Mule Cutscene - when you talk to Issac with Tabs in your party - that has been cleaned up and flows better. Issac yells more. It's great.
When Scylla is on John Mule, she gives you the poster in a less wonky way





MINOR
When Kaiden dies in combat, he won't spin off screen anymore. He still stands there like an idiot, however. Next update...
Kaiden isn't a cheap boss anymore - he'll indicate where he's moving after he ceiling attacks
GameOver screen has a new animation when Scylla is out
Tabs gives you space when you talk to NPCs. (I made him more shy! He still likes to float off the floor sometimes...)
Xer smiles at you when he gives you the dash boots. It's great.
Xer has a new idle and laugh animation
Scylla has a new angry animation
Dragon egg in the microwave has a dope-ass animation now
Leto has a more pissed off portrait
Tabs, when he's first transformed for the Valuna cutscene, snarls a bit
All companinion particle effects shut off during dialog
Sad Alma sprite was updated
Leto's room posters were updated

Pursuit of Power® 2 : The Chaos Dimension - MikeVitt
Hosting a multiplayer game no longer requires enabling port-forwarding on a router. Players can connect to a friend's game by selecting the friend from a list when joining. That will use Steam's relay network to send and receive packets, which gets around firewalls. Joining a direct IP address is still supported too.

Notes:
  • Added support for Steam network relay messaging.
  • Added a client option to join a friend's game using the Steam network relay.
  • Updated Steam API to v1.55.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause invalid autosave when game is not in progress.
  • Updated version to 2.2.2.10.

Chester - DanWithAPan
Hello everyone!
To celebrate the announcement of Chester's sequel game Chester: Into The Light, I got to work on a total remaster of Chester! Chester 1.8 is loaded with tons of changes, so let's dive right in.

When I made Chester in late 2020, I was coming off of my first game DOGMAN.
I had learned a lot about programming, and was pushing myself to learn new things daily. But unfortunately, I was lacking heavily in level design skills. The previous versions of Chester reflect that shortcoming. You walked around in a big empty house with grey walls and a few chairs. It couldn't get more boring than that. I also had no clue how to optimize a game, which was reflected in my favorite review of the game: "Scary game. It burns your CPU if you don't finish it quick enough.".
So now, after another year of learning, I felt that I owed it to you all to remaster Chester, and make the changes needed to have a fun time.
