Scoot - MattCole
Hello, everyone!

Just over 3 months after Scoot's big rebuild update, I'm bringing you it's first update since!

Jumbo Jump Island
Jumbo Jump Island is a brand new map that allows you to utilise the game's new transition physics! An awesome downhill jump track, loops, and bowls. This island is truly a rider's paradise. Despite saying last update that New Carven will be expanded on, this map can be accessed through the pause menu.

Improved Transitions
Transitions have been massively improved for this update. Transitions will now act and feel more how would expect them to. A largely requested feature was to make spines work correctly, and with these improvements, they do! There are still improvements to be made but I'm super happy with how they've turned out for this update.

Climbing
One of my favourite additions of this update is climbing! You're now able to reach higher points with the new climbing system. Whether you're stuck in a bowl, trying to reach the top of a ledge, or you simply want to get over a rail, climbing comes to your advantage.

Scoot keeps getting bigger and bigger and I can't wait to see where it ends up. Don't forget to follow us to keep updated with development, give feedback, and more. Thank you all <3

SYNCED - SYNCED
Welcome to the Meridian

SYNCED is a match-based rogue-looter developed by NExT Studios, where players team up into groups of three to tackle PvE or PvP scenarios. In a techno-apocalyptic future, you are a Runner who joins the war against deadly techno-creatures called Nanos inside the sealed exclusion zone known as the Meridian.

Open Beta Content

The SYNCED Open Beta runs from December 10 to January 15 and has been designed to let PC players experience a large chunk of what the full release will have to offer. Whether you prefer to take down Nanos in high-octane PvE action, or like to pit your wits against like-minded Runners in tense PvP combat - SYNCED has you covered.

PvE - Dead Sectors

The Dead Sectors are crawling with seemingly endless hordes of Nanos. At the heart of each is a Tyrant, the big baddies at the very top of the Nano food chain. If we lose control of these dark corners of the Meridian, Haven and everyone in it will be facing certain extinction. It’s up to you and your fellow runners to move in and put an end to the Tyrants’ reign.
Team up in Runner squads of three to hunt down and defeat Tyrant Nanos. Together, you'll fight through surge-infested sectors to clear out corruption, gather resources, unlock special abilities, and upgrade your armband.

PvP - Nerva Run

Nerva Runs are a way of life for the bold Runner. Shinar’s automated Harvester drones are extracting Nerva from all across the Meridian, and we’ve found a way to intercept them and siphon off a helping for ourselves. But with the fat commission Haven offers to those who bring in the blue stuff, you’d better be ready to claw your way over your fellow Runners to earn your keep.
Charge into the Meridian with your team to capture the most Nerva. Use your nano companions and special abilities to intercept Harvesters, battle Goliath nanos, and eliminate rival Runners before they get a chance to eliminate you.

Runners

It takes a special kind of crazy to willingly set foot inside the Meridian - and Haven is home to several individuals that fit the bill. Each have come for different reasons, but all are bound by a dependancy on Nerva.

Deadcut: A card shark and a hustler, Deadcut made a career out of gambling and guns. The Collapse actually saved his life, sweeping away his debts and landing him on his feet. With his trusty companion nano, Ace, Deadcut set out for the Meridian to find his fortune and himself.

Glory Zhao: The days that followed the Collapse brought unspeakable hardship and grief, but they also stirred a noble vision in Glory Zhao. With her mother's blessing, she set out from her small village in China to find the source of this ceaseless suffering, to end it once and for all.

Dr. Stone: Once a rural doctor in an underfunded district in the North of England, Dr. Montgomery Stone didn't come to the Meridian for power, wealth, or for revenge. He's looking for a cure. If he can find it, he can save the future, and start rectifying his past.

As you progress through the SYNCED Open Beta, keep an eye out for more playable Runners. The journey is just beginning, and Nerva is in high demand!

Nanos

Nanos are the reason you’re here. An experiment using this micro technology went horribly wrong and wiped out much of humanity, leaving behind only a small population. Now you and your fellow survivors must join forces to claim the Nerva left scattered on the battleground, and to do it, you need to claim a Nano as your own. If you want to survive, you must sync.

In SYNCED you will face different types of Nanos, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. When they’re low on health, instead of killing them, you get the chance to sync with and control them. These Nanos are then yours to utilise in battle, giving you the edge needed to beat other Runners to the Nerva. There are four classes of Nanos available.

The Crusher will pound your enemy into to submission.

Suppressors are a perfect sentry, and great for long range cover.

If you prefer to lay low, the Guardians offer perfect cover with their shield abilities.

Finally, the Seer compliments tactical play, scouting out the enemy, detecting opponents early and using their devious decoy ability.

Rise of the Foederati - Genos Studios

Hi there. Continuing our series about our single player campaign, today we'll present to you our main character. As previously posted hinting it, the new character is a young prince by the name of Hermenegild.

Being a Visigoth prince, he is raised in the court of his father, king Liuvigild, who for the first time manages to unite and create a lasting kingdom, something their people have not seen for centuries. During the campaign, the player will be put in Hermenegild's shoes as they try to survive as a young man with the huge burden of being the successor of the king. Will he be up to the task? Or will the weight of the Kingdom be too much for him to bear?

Perhaps what is most unique about our campaign and what we are most excited to show you is the progression of our prince. When the campaign begins, you will play as an immature, but headstrong young man destined for greatness. As the chapters go by, Hermenegild will get older, and his physical and emotional scars will deepen, as it shapes him as both warrior and statesman. Many questions will be presented to him, and it is your task as the prince to follow your king's orders for the glory of your kingdom! As showcased in our previous episode, the Visigoth kingdom is set in modern Spain, in the current province of Hispania, where they occupy the central regions and share borders with the now-decayed Roman Empire who was only recently reconquered from the clutches of the Ostrogoths, a different branch and offshoot of the Visigoth royalty in a different dynasty. To the north, the everlasting Basque tribes have federations with loose authority over their own domain, and the Visigoth rulers agree to leave them be in exchange of an independent rule and non-agression treaties. To the west, the Suebians still threaten local lords and put to question the crown's authority, especially with their new king, Miro. Finally, north of the Pyrenées, in northeastern regions, lies the Franks and the Burgundians, the first being the largest and most dangerous kingdom of Europe with its multiple kings in different regions, and a key convenience-ally of Liuvigild, who married one of the Frankish kings' daughters, removing her from a life of cloisure in a monastery as a nun.

This fact shapes a lot of Hermenegild's life, as his mother was raised in a different culture. Being half-Frankish, many of Hermenegild's challenges in his court are brought upon him as a difficult choice between both sides of the family. Worst of all, his father and king Liuvigild is the youngest of three brothers, the eldest dying in mysterious circunstances and the other also being a Visigoth king, Liuva, in the northern regions of the kingdom. To survive, Liuvigild brought many concessions to regional nobles and tradesmen, making his rule be even more nominal than his other two brothers were. Different from them, however, is that Liuvigild is a great warrior, and conquered many lawless regions of the kingdom, bringing forth a new era of prosperity. This reorganization of the kingdom, however, has consequences, as you will lead small armies across Hispania to bring forth the rule of your father there are those who question his authority, be it from his lax position against those who dare question his rule, and his selective brutality to those who are deemed weaker than his armies. A prince who is from an early age engaged in matters of warfare becomes well-raised later on to rule his own kingdom; enemies and backstabbers are never in short supply in the Visigoth court...

Last, but not least, a particular case is brought to the players, because the kingdom of the Visigoths is shared between Hermenegild's father and uncle, one being ruler in the north, the other in the east... we bring more about the politics regarding the Visigoth crown in our next episode, and how this pans out for the campaign. Different than previously planned, our campaigns will still have a map movement and conquest part, but will mostly revolve around battles, and making sure your tribe is uncontested. Being a prince, and officially an army leader (or in name, at least, because young men are simply wards with a captain serving as their representatives the same way as a regent would if not old enough to reign), playing in the campaign will not be much different than in a multiplayer campaign we previously planned, with the key differences being having drastically different objectives, a more focused area in maps to travel and discover new challenges and finally directions in which you can pan out the results of your exploits, which we will also talk about in our next post.

This is our last post of the year, and with that we hope to be able to present to your guys the result of our work in our campaign cutscenes next time and bring to you how it would pan out in-game. Thank you for staying with us and make sure to check us out in 2023!
