2023 Season 1 Release Notes [2022.12.06.03]

The iRacing annual December update is here! This release includes a huge amount of content and upgrades for 2023 Season 1, which officially starts on December 12th! This season update includes three new cars: BMW M Hybrid V8, Mercedes-AMG W13 E Performance, and Toyota GR86. We have also added two brand new tracks: Lincoln Speedway, and Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours. Both the Ford Mustang FR500S and Sebring International Raceway have also received complete art updates for a fresh and modern look. Three new Dirt Road track configs have been added between Daytona Rallycross and Dirt Road, and [Legacy] Phoenix Raceway - 2008. The brand new Active Reset feature is now available to help you repeatedly practice any and all of iRacing’s track sections with only a few keystrokes. Our surface simulations on and off the track have been improved with driving line Track Polish modeling and physics-based soft surface modeling. Dozens more tracks now have Start Zones available and starting grids expanded up to 60 racers! The GT3 class also received tire and aerodynamic updates along with increased mass and engine power; these changes bring performance even closer to their real-world counterparts. A new texture layer has been added to all cars that allow for acrylic clear coats to be added to all custom paint schemes. The New Damage Model is now also in effect for GT3 Class Cars and the Dallara P217. Our iRacing AI have been training all autumn long and are ready to fight you for the podium with nine new cars at 23 new track configs. The updates are quite thin, but this is because I'm working on the big new stuff - derelict ships and space tech. That stuff is being added, just invisible to everyone who doesn't have "experimental" turned on. That new stuff is also not added to changelog, there will be a separate changelog for that when it's shipped to everyone.

Oh, and sorry for the spinning capsules, last update had a LOT of technical changes, that issue slipped unnoticed.

Reported Bug is fixed regarding Controller and Keyboard switching at the game start.

In the controller binding menu, Analog stick as a button is now described with a graphic not a text.

You can bind Left Ctrl or Left Alt key now. Also, they show up in the menu properly.

SailSim - gizmoforyou
As requested by many users, i started adding Keyboard inputs to all controls.

In this update the Laser sailboat can be controlled with "A" and "D" for the Rudder. "Left" and "Right" for the boom and "K" for the Keel.

I know it isn't much but i have began to work intensively on the Windows version now and more will follow soon.

Hunting Life VR: Dove Season - TomShif
Added: Two hand weapon option.

If this option is enabled, you must grab the gun with your left hand with the left grip button (and NOT the right grip button) to aim and fire. With this option enabled, you MUST have your left hand gripping the shotgun or the gun will not fire. With this option disabled, you MAY still grab the shotgun with the left hand, but it is not required for firing. Letting go of the left grip button or pressing the right grip button (which is required to open barrels on side-by-side or over-under shotguns and to slide the action on pump shotguns) will snap the gun back to default facing.

Note: Two hand weapon use is still a work-in-progress and will be further refined as development continues.


Fixed: Weather transitioning instantly. Should be smoother transition now.
Fixed: Issue with reloading semi and pump where extra shell could end up being loaded (actually was more like “queued up” for loading when a shot was fired, but resulted in being able to shoot 4 times).
Fixed: Issue with over-under sometimes registering two hits on birds.
Fixed: LOD issue with poplar tree models causing drastic pop-in
Fixed: Issue with non-bird ambient animals sometimes falling through terrain
Fixed: Issue with birds taking off from roost sometimes starting below the terrain
