We couldn't be happier to share the official teaser trailer for the upcoming League of Maidens "The Realm of Shadows" expansion (Patch 1.7.0a).
Our narrative designer, level designer and artists have all been working together in parallel to our coding development path and we are very happy with their progress. Although it will take some time to complete this work, we look forward to keeping you all up to date on our progress as well as all of the awesomeness that will be in store.
The champions of the world team up with Future Gail Frost to locate the long-lost members of the original League of Maidens being held against their will in the Realm of Shadows. Join the heroes of tomorrow as they take on Queen Ar'Kanis, Atonia's right hand and warden of the Realm of Shadows before she completes the ceremony which will corrupt the souls of the League of Maidens forever.
IMPORTANT: Please note that we estimate that TROS (The Realm of Shadows) will launch sometime late Q1 2023. This is not a fixed or firm date but an estimate on when we believe the expansion will be available. Please understand that this is just an estimate and is subject to change. MONEY MACHINE
The money machine has been added and now players can convert dirty money to clean money and clean money to dirty money via the money machine which can either be crafted or used publicly at one of the shops.
LITE WEATHER SYSTEM
There is now a light weather system in the game containing rain and snow. Please be patient as I work towards getting this system full fleshed out, there may be some times where the rain drops continue on the HUD even if it is not raining but I plan on getting this taken care of in a hot fox coming rather quickly. Other than that the system works and should be synced in multiplayer.
FOG SYSTEM
With the weather system comes a lite fog system. I am still playing with the values to set the right mood but with that being said there might be some issues with the density of the fog. Nothing game breaking you just really have to have your wits about you as the fog adds in a new layer of "sneaky-ness" LOL
SYTLIZED SKY
implemented a stylized sky into the game which may be out of sync or multiplayer for now. I still have to set the variables in the game mode so that the server set the time and is synced up. many apologies however this does add to the overall atmosphere of the game and mood/.
MASSIVE BACK END BUILDING ISSUES
Fixed a massive issue on the back end where a majority of the build parts being given at the crafting bench were not matching up with the corresponding build part. This has been solved and all build parts should correspond together. Build part collision has also been removed from furniture items so players can place furniture items pretty much anywhere.
RANDOM ITEM SPAWNING
Random items in crates and resource points will now spawn at beginning of the game and on a timer of about 5 minutes. This is to ensure there are always new items being spawned in a timely fashion as well as to ensure that there at items in chest if you happen to reach one before the timer runs out.
ENEMY DESPAWN TIME
enemy despawn timer has been increased deer now drop animal hide for the bear rug AI soldiers will now drop brick, packs and spawn random items on death
NEW ENEMY
New enemy soldier "elite" has been added to the game. these soldiers carry blue prints for all high level weapons. you cannot craft high level weapons without a blue print. they much be bought or researched. these new enemies are not a joke and have almost triple the amount of health as the normal soldiers. they are wearing RED. be on the lookout as they will completely destroy you if not prepped for the encounter.
STARTING WEAPON
Players will now start with a knife. I am in the process of adding in mele but felt this a fair means of protection. now if and when you die.. you WILL NOT RESPOND WITH YOUR KNIFE. YOU DIED AND THAT'S ON YOU.
FRONT FACING CAMERA
there is now a front facing camera by hitting the "v" key players can see the snazzy clothing items they have on.
DYING WARNING
a major request... lol.. there is now a sound when you take damage and when you are starving/dehydrated. still tweaking the sound but I heard yall so I had to rectify this issue immediately!
REAL TIME MINI MAP
there is now a very very very crude real time mini map when you hit the "t" key. now this is still super super early but just wanted to give it to yall as I had heard it various times during the play test.
ALRIGHT I THINK THAT'S IT!!
As you can see I went kind of ham this weekend.. lol.. just wanted to make sure yall are getting the best version of what i am capable of right now! Again, I just want to emphasize how thankful I am for each and every one of yall just even giving bandits a try.
oh and one last thing i wanted to say is that this is not deadpoly or surroundead lol like i know it is VERY SIMILAR and uses the same assets.. BUT IT IS BANDITS NOT ANY OTHER GAME. so if you are playing.. expecting the same experience as dead poly or surrounded.. then im sorry.. you will be GREATLY disappointed. and i say that with so much love. im not trying to make the same game as anybody else. im just making MY game and hoping it finds the right audience. if that rubs you the wrong way i really dont care lol shout out to all my bandits.. WE ARE JUST GETTING STARTED !!!
Analytics are something that's well worth putting the time into. We released a demo for The Necromancer's Tale a few weeks ago and here's a heatmap of around 500 play sessions. We can see where players went and where they spent most time. It turns out players went everywhere possible (and one place that should not have been possible!) and poked at everything.
We have also made quite a few bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements based on player feedback. So thank you all for that!
What I can't easily show as a visual, but which is probably more important than this location-based heatmap for game balancing, is a heatmap of the narrative/story data in the game. By recording the "critical path" through the story we can identify precisely where players tended to drop out.

I'm so excited to get into today's update because honestly, it's the cutest feature I think I've ever seen in a game (as well as being pretty helpful!)! BUT! Before I get too carried away, don't forget we have a BRAND NEW TRAILER coming this Thursday, December 8th!

So, what has Cheesemaster Games been so hard at work on making both functional AND adorable? If you've played the demo, you might have met these two cuties - two Shiba Inus!
Jan and Maru have had some visual upgrades to look more like their real-life counterparts! There have been so many visual upgrades throughout, but these two have been given a brand new mission to help out new players, so it was important they looked the part! Did you know that Shibas nearly went extinct during WW2?
Looking back at the demo and early playthroughs of the game, we noticed that folks were getting lost and finding it hard to navigate - something we definitely didn't want in our lovely calm game! So, we decided to allow a little extra time before spirit mode kicks in so that everyone can wander around and get their bearings, chat with the locals and get a feel for what building houses who! We made some map improvements that I chatted about in our last update, but you'll need to find people before they'll appear on your map - don't worry though, help is at hand.
No one likes being stuck at 25/27 townspeople met (certainly if your sense of direction is as bad as mine!) so we've drafted in loyal and friendly Jan and Maru to help! If you're not sure where to find someone, they'll happily sniff them out, and lead you to them! What useful neighbours!
We want to make sure throughout that we're keeping on top of making this a pleasant, chill experience for those who want to hang out, help their neighbours, have some fun and run their bathhouse. Being blocked by needing to find someone you've never met, or not being sure where someone is for a quest feels really unrewarding, so the work is going in to make sure everything is just as we'd like it, so you can fully enjoy your adventure the way you want to!
