One of North America’s “Super Six” freight railroads, BNSF Railway is a goliath of modern railroading – and you can bring it alive with a variety of extraordinary routes and DLC for Train Simulator Classic!
BNSF Railway: It is one of North America’s – and the world’s – railroading goliaths. BNSF spins its ribbons of steel across 32,500 route miles which stretch through 28 U.S. states and three Canadian provinces. BNSF calls upon upwards of 8,000 locomotives and 35,000 employees to haul agricultural products, intermodal traffic, industrial goods, vehicles, coal, chemicals, and petroleum. And BNSF generates more than $22 billion in annual revenues.
As impressive as today’s BNSF operations and statistics are, the railroad also rejoices in a rich history and heritage. Formed in 1996, BNSF’s predecessors include a virtual who’s who of American railroading, including Burlington Northern, Great Northern, Northern Pacific, Burlington Route (CB&Q), Spokane, Portland & Seattle, Frisco (SL-SF), and famed Santa Fe (and indeed we’ll explore BNSF’s remarkable predecessors in a future DTL article).
Befitting BNSF as one of the world’s most extraordinary and diverse railroads, Train Simulator Classic offers a bountiful selection of BNSF routes, locomotive and equipment packs, and realistic scenario packs to bring the railroad to full life and provide you with countless hours of railroading challenges and enjoyment. Let’s take a look:
BNSF Routes Train Simulator Classic offers you the opportunity to climb aboard and experience big-time North American railroading on no less than seven routes which feature BNSF operations! Three superb and popular Train Simulator Classic routes re-create legendary portions of the BNSF’s northern-tier main line as originally set down by the Great Northern – including the Train Simulator Classic Marias Pass, Stevens Pass, and Montana Hi-Line routes. BNSF’s unique and fast-paced triple-track steel speedway extending west from Chicago is the subject of the remarkable Racetrack: Aurora - Chicago route. And three additional Train Simulator Classic routes – the Tehachapi Pass route, Pacific Surfliner route, and vintage Cajon Pass route – offer BNSF action on shared-trackage lines. Together, these routes deliver BNSF railroading stretching from Chicago, America’s enthralling railroad capital, all the way to the Pacific Northwest and California! And each of these routes (except Tehachapi Pass) are today also home to regular Amtrak passenger operations.
BNSF Locomotives and Equipment Train Simulator Classic BNSF routes provide hundreds of miles of BNSF trackage and DLC offers a variety of realistic locomotives and equipment to put to work! Train Simulator Classic BNSF routes each include locomotives, most notably the BNSF General Electric ES44DC and Electro-Motive GP38-2, and you can expand and enhance your BNSF locomotive roster with Train Simulator Classic’s variety of locomotive and equipment packs. As included with routes or as available as DLC, nine locomotive types are ready for duty, including the EMD SD40-2, SD70ACe, SD70MAC, SD75, GP9, GP38-2, SW1500, and General Electric Dash 9-44CW and ES44DC. Many of the attractive DLC packs include the locomotives in multiple BNSF liveries and even the colors of additional railroads, plus complementary freight equipment.
Scenario Packs Train Simulator Classic Scenario Packs are an ideal way to extend and enhance your enjoyment of routes and locomotives and the packs feature realistic railroading experiences. Scenario packs with BNSF operations are available for the Marias Pass, Stevens Pass, Montana Hi-Line, Chicago Racetrack, Tehachapi Pass, and Pacific Surfliner routes.
Steam Workshop Literally hundreds of additional BNSF scenarios created by many talented members of the Train Simulator Classic community are available at Steam Workshop and the BNSF scenarios include some of the Workshop’s most popular and highly rated scenarios. In short, countless hours of contemporary, captivating, and challenging BNSF railroading awaits you with the rich variety of BNSF content available for Train Simulator Classic! All BNSF content for Train Simulator Classic is available at the Steam Store.

A great event that will allow you to get points for the spent gold coins, which can be exchanged for excellent items. Features of this event
If Score Exchange is launched in parallel with Lucky Draw, then one spent gold coin is equal to 2 points.
These accumulated points can be used both in the Score Exchange event itself and in the Lucky Draw event (points spent are displayed exactly in both events and if spend points in Score Exchange, they will disappear from the Lucky Draw event and vice versa.)
IMPORTANT! If the points are not spent by the end of this event, the points can be reset to zero if one of the related events - ends (Lucky Draw or Score Exchange)
The current launch of the event does not include the parallel start of the Lucky Draw event, therefore 1 coin spent = 1 points.
The number of exchange points for items in the event has been reduced.
First of all we would like to give a huge thank you to everyone who downloaded, played, streamed, and shared their feedback for Wildfrost’s Steam Next Fest demo! The support from players has been so incredible, and we’re working on making the game the coolest it can be for launch.
Until then, we wanted to let you know what we’ve been working on since, and how your feedback has helped shape the game:
Sneak peek at a snobun
Hard Mode?
We recognise that the demo difficulty wasn’t for everyone, so we’ve taken it down a notch for people who want to enjoy their time frolicking up the mountains, and we will be adding challenge modes for those of you looking for interesting ways to make things more s̾p̾i̾c̾y̾.
The Woolly Snail Shop
Lots of players pointed out that they had accidentally purchased the crown when attempting to inspect it. This is now changed, so you should be able to view items in the shop without spending your hard-earned blings!
Snow Immunity Changes
Snow immunity is now snow resistance. Bosses and minibosses will no longer be completely immune to snow, but instead they’ll have a 1-turn resistance timer meaning that multipliers of snow do not work, but you can still snow them.
Daily Runs
Exactly what it says on the tin; we’ve introduced a fixed set of cards and enemies for everyone to tackle. A new challenge every day will be available every day for you to battle your way up those leaderboards.
Player statistics
Player stats coming!
More Map Events
In addition to the Treasure Chests, Blingsnail Caves, The Woolly Snail shop, frozen travellers and charm gashapons you came across in the demo version, you’ll also find more treasure and quirky strangers with too-good-to-refuse offers along the route in the full game!
Boss Rewards
After each boss battle you’ll get to pick from an array of perks such as +1 companion on the field or -1 to the redraw bell counter, to bolster your deck and increase your chances of taking down the enemies that await.
Release Window
We’re still implementing, balance testing and playing with new features, new cards and more fun ways to play, so please bear with us as we make these tweaks ready for launch. With that being said, we want to update everybody to let you know that we’ve made the decision to push the release to early 2023 (still Winter!) so that we can bring you these new features. Our goal is always to make the coolest game we can, and we’ve been able to make the next steps towards that goal thanks to everyone who gave feedback.
Now for some fun stats!
The most popular companion pick was Big Berry, however Naked Gnome gets a special mention as over 85% of you kept him around after sparing him
The least popular companion pick was Blunky *whomp whomp*. Maybe some of you will adopt him in the full game
The most popular clunker by a large margin was the Mobile Campfire - not just picked the most, but also had the highest win rate
Players found the Spice Monkeys the most difficult to overcome and the Snowbos the easiest to defeat
Check out this fun fella

We were holding back a bit on using the phrase "everything is bigger in Texas" on our blog in the last couple of months but in this article, it seems impossible to just go ahead without bringing the famous quote up. As you will see, even the Special Transport missions will have to reflect this legendary saying!
You might be used to us introducing about 3-4 Special Transport routes in the previous map expansions. This time, due to the size of Texas, we have pretty much doubled our effort and there will be 7 new routes arriving with the DLC! As you probably know, these missions are designed with the intention of providing the players with an additional challenge, and we hope so many options will provide you with hours upon hours of entertainment.
These are the seven routes you can look forward to:
Corpus Christi to Brownsville
San Angelo to Dallas
Stockton to Abilene
Longview to Galveston
Del Rio to Van Horn
Lubbock to Odessa
Wichita Falls to Amarillo
Don’t forget, Texas is releasing next week on the 15th of November. Make sure to check out our release date announcement blog post which features an amazing video trailer that will surely hype you up for a journey across The Lone Star State. And, if by any chance you still need to add the DLC to your Steam Wishlist, visit the Steam page and do so now, as you will receive a notification once the expansion becomes available!
