We're back with an update on the development progress and preparation of the demo.
During October we didn't manage to complete all our tasks, but we are much closer to the release of the demo. In the image with stats you can see which areas are being worked on.
- The scenes directing is 26/40 ready. - Music has been approved for most of the scenes. - Illustrations have been fixed. - The mechanics of auto-reading are implemented and the work on saves is almost complete. - One complex background is finished. For the demo, we have one more to rework. - We have reworked the SMS interface on the smartphone and improved the overall layout.
Characters
As planned, we've started work on the last character with whom our main character can have a love line. In October we managed to draw one of the three poses for Friedrich, developing his unique and richly detailed style. Look at the precision with which the artist chose the colours.
Content
Everything is prepared for the demo, all that's left is the cosmetics: solve the controversial points in the illustrations, make the illustrations look nice in the smartphone, clean up the voiceover that has already been cut, adjust the volume. Most of the artists are already drawing content for the full version of the game, while the voice actors are waiting for the final text approval in the orange branch.
Storybook
Last month has been a fruitful one for short stories. There's already a trend: the more intense the work on the whole project, the more we have to turn to the prequel to switch things up and take a break.
- Lucie's series: 3 new stories. Complete. - Friedrich's early series: 10 new stories. Complete. - Beatrice's early series: 3 new stories. Complete. - Friedrich's late series: outline made, first story written.
Our subscribers on Boosty have by now read four stories told on behalf of Lilia Horák.
Plans for November
- Finish directing the remaining scenes, do some test proofreading with a focus group. - Finish what's been started: game saves and auto-scrolling through the read text. - Clean the audio for at least 2/3 of the voiced lines. - Draw the last background for the demo. - Prepare at least a prototype build for moderation on Steam.
Add Tenebrae to your wishlist and subscribe to our social media pages. See you in December!
We were a little late updating because of the studio circuit check last week. The following is our latest progress.
Optimization
We've further improved the winning interface, hopefully to make it a bit clearer.
We have also made adjustments to over 20 equipment descriptions.
Localization
We put a lot of thought into the language switching within the game to ensure that players play smoothly in different languages
Version Forward
Currently we have made more than 80 cards for the second new character, and have completed more than half of them.
A brand new boss who is good at summoning.
She specializes in summoning electronic creatures, and different summons carry different characteristics.

A huge pumpkin field is quite a rare sight for the Wasteland, and we just couldn’t help but capture it in our November artwork. We could share the coordinates for you to go there and enjoy the atmosphere, but Jonathan and his “Furia” have already claimed the place for themselves. As if this place wasn’t creepy enough without them...
And here’s a small teaser. Despite the fact that the major update “Supercharged” has already been released and has greatly transformed the game, we still have enough surprises to look forward to this year. A new game mode? Probably. A location that the old-timers of the Wasteland remember with nostalgia? Why not! And there’s even more! Buckle up — the last months of the year will be interesting!
In the meantime — download this and many other artworks from the “Wallpapers” section of our official website!

- Lighting Rework now supporting Lumen, Including Path Tracing and Global Illumination
- Reworked Character, New SCP: Containment Breach Inspired Headbob, Advanced Crouching system with Smooth crouching and Auto-Detection (cannot uncrouch while under objects)

Some W.I.P things that are still ongoing
- Audio Remaster - all Voicelines will be tailored to be the same level, however, this is hard to do.
I hope you guys had a blast playing DUBIUM Demo. For this month’s Dev log, we would like to talk about what we’ve heard from players during the Next Fest as it was quite a big event for us. During the demo, we received many valuable feedback and suggestions from players.
Top 5 categories of feedback from the players
Tutorial
(Player) Reporting System
New Content (Mini Game, Map, Character)
Platform (PC, Console, Gamepad)
Localization
So, let’s go over some feedback and questions that you guys asked!
Q: How much will DUBIUM be and when is it going to be released?! A: First, the cost of DUBIUM will be around $30. We were planning to release DUBIUM this Q4 of this year and during the Next Fest we realized that we may need to include some new features and have more polishing to do so we are planning to release DUBIUM Early Access next year(possibly Q2)
Q: Will there be a tutorial for DUBIUM? A: YES, we’ve heard you all. A tutorial will be included. We are brainstorming what type of tutorial would be more adequate for players. If you have any suggestions, drop by our Discord and let us know.
Q: Will there be a reporting system for players who ruin the game experience? A: Yes, the Player reporting system is one of the features in our development roadmap. Therefore it will be included later. If you experienced offensive, negative, or disruptive behavior from another player you will be able to report a player in the later version. We are aware that some players ruin the fun of a game for you and others in DUBIUM and we agree with you that certain restraint is necessary. With the data we gained during the demo we will develop a system to give you guys a better experience with DUBIUM.
Q: Will there be a new character or a new map coming? A: Yes, more to come! We have a lot of content in our sketchbook. These are some designs and sketches of some ideas!
Q: Will DUBIUM support the console, steam deck, and gamepad? A: Yes, we are planning to optimize the gamepad controls. Regarding the consoles and steam deck, we are also thinking about supporting them after releasing Early Access on PC.
Q: Will there be some new minigames? Like for Solar panels and escape vessels? A: We used to have a minigame for them. We deactivated it to make it easier for new players. However, we are always open to ideas. If you guys have a great idea post it on the feedback forum in discord!
Q: Will there be a translation of other languages? A: Yes! Oui! Sì! Ja! Sí! はい! 네! Owszem! 是的! Да! Sim! Ya! We haven't decided how many or what language to localize yet. If you have any recommendations, feel free to let us know.
If you have any questions or feedback, feel free to leave them in the comments below or on Discord .
