It’s only been a week since Oktoberfest ended, but Management is already planning the next event to hit the Space Rig. And many of you have already guessed it: Halloween will make its return to Deep Rock Galactic on Tuesday Oct 18th (1pm CEST). And while there are no double Season XP rewards this time around, there’ll still be plenty to experience.
New Event Assignment and Scary Masks
There will be a special Halloween Assignment for you to complete, as has become customary for a DRG event. But you are probably asking what compensation there will be for completing it. A hefty payout, trust us. And on top of that, these two new horrifying additions to your wardrobe:
The ‘Scary Rubber Mask’ is so terrifying that Management had to consult the company health insurance to ensure fright-induced cardiac arrest was covered. The lifeless, glowing eyes and the twisted grin are enough to make anyone jump with fright. It is the most hair-raising, blood-curdling cosmetic item ever made for Deep Rock Galactic and should be worn with consideration to your teammates.
The one behind that is called the ‘Hooded Monster’. It is also very scary.
Space Rig Decoration
You will, of course, also be treated to festive decorations alongside your fellow employees to get you in the proper Halloween spirit. Check back next week to see for yourself.
And just to be clear - there won’t be an equivalent Double Season XP bonus similar to the beer mug hunt during Oktoberfest. It was an experiment we did for Oktoberfest, and we know many of you loved that addition to the usual DRG events. We want to bring back this feature but did not have the production time for it with Halloween, the event being so close to Season 03. But you can expect us to bring that idea with us for future events.
The Halloween event starts Oct 18th (1pm CEST) and ends Nov 1st (1pm CEST), just in time for Season 03: Plaguefall to begin on Nov 3rd. Are you ready for a frighteningly good time? We are.
In this month's summary, as promised, we'd like to finally show you some building animations AND a new tier of buildings! Some of them you've seen already but in older versions, so we'll compare them for you :)
First off, we'd like to thank you for your support and engagement. We're working now only for ourselves but also for you, searching for like-minded people wanting to play semi-comedic citybuilder in which we put our love and souls. Thank you <3
Now... it's time to see what we've accomplished for the past few months and been keeping from your vigilant eyes O.o (Of course, we can't spoil ALL the goods, but we'll let you in for a nice sneak-peak)
As mentioned earlier, we re-designed some old buildings for the needs of a new tier. We present you Workers - buildings built by workaholic gnomes that make providing basic necessities possible through their hard work and not being afraid of getting their hands dirty.
The first one is Butcher, a redesigner for better visibility of work done, selling meat and tanning leather.

Next in line is Bakery. The older version seemed more rigid, with no flow in shapes, not really "selling" the image of being a bakery, so we changed it up a bit, similarly to Butcher :)

The building that has undergone the least changes is Blast Furnace. We liked how it turned out so much that we only changed some textures and added some clutter, but come, see for yourselves.

Brickyard also took another turn and has been reworked. The last version was a little... empty.

Finally our pride, Windmill. We dumped the idea of big and flashy wings, which made the building impractical, and too big, and went for something a bit different.

Our animator really did his best with animations and currently is working on some additional ones which hopefully will be even greater <3
Let us know how you like what we've shown you in this summary and till the next one ;) GliviGames Team

Today I wanted to give you a preview of what's to come in the next patch we are calling The Marshland Update. We expect this update to be out within the next few weeks and can't wait for you to try out the new content.
Also, today we've pushed a new update to the beta branch which includes some save changes to hopefully address issues with the game rarely not loading a save, balancing changes, and visual changes to some islands to make them more distinct from one another. That update will be out soon but if you want to test it or read the patch notes, you can do so here.
Here's a look at what's coming in The Marshlands Update.
Brand New Island: The Marshlands
In our next update we're introducing a new island complete with new atmosphere, points of interest, loot, and enemies. Just in time for Halloween, you'll be able to occasionally come across a foggy island out at sea called The Marshlands. This island has low visibility and is crawling with spiders and skeletons. Rumor also has it a rare enemy known as The Spider Queen can be found wandering these islands.
With this island type will also come new dungeons, quest, loot, and resources. If you've played Salt 1, you'll be happy to see the return of the Moonrock Ore Vein out in the wild. This rare ore glows under the moonlight and provides moonrock as a resource. We've added new recipes in this update for weapons and other items that can be crafted with moonrock.
New island Visuals
Another new change we have made is adjusted the visuals of some islands already in the game. We've changed the color palette and terrain formation of pirate islands to make them a bit different from natural islands. We've also made Seaport islands more open and flat, and large islands are now much more mountainous with high peaks and valleys.
We'll have more info soon on when you expect this update to be out. Thanks for reading!
