Salt 2: Shores of Gold - Pilgrim
Hey everyone! We have received a lot of very helpful feedback during the first week of Early Access. We greatly appreciate you all taking the time to let us know about bugs you've run into, what you find fun and not fun, and what you'd like to see as development continues.

As you play, please keep the feedback coming as it helps us to find issues, and prioritize what we need to work on for upcoming updates.

This update primarily focuses on bug fixes and balancing tweaks, with some additional content sprinkled in. As we get early bugs squashed, we will start to be able to focus more effort on adding missing content such as more map features, talents, and ship models.

One of the more annoying issues that some people have encountered is saves temporarily not loading. If this happens to you, You can find discussion and possible solutions in this thread. This update has some changes to address a potential cause of it, but it's something we are still investigating.

Changes
  • Added some extra error handling to hopefully address an issue where some players would not be able to load their saves.
  • Added descriptions on ships and ship recipes about what base model it uses.
  • Fixed some of the non-60 target frame-rate options targeting 60 instead of what they are supposed to.
  • Fixed arrows going through stuff they shouldn't.
  • You are no longer required to be crouched to land a sneak attack as long as you are undetected.
  • Added a message when your num lock is on and try to rebind something to an arrow key (until we fix the underlying issue).
  • You are now more likely to find mining ores at your level on natural islands.
  • Music now occurs more frequently.
  • You are no longer required to talk to the Cartographer after buying your crafting stations for the New Craftsman quest in order to complete the quest.
  • Ancient moss and ancient stone shards now drop more frequently.
  • The Spirit Blade now does more damage.
  • Reduced the crafting requirements for ingots.
  • Reduced the consume chance on some lures.
  • Increased the amount of food you get from some items.
  • Fixed an issue with some items being able to be looted in cartographer shops even though they weren't supposed to be.
  • Fixed an issue with the "New Remedy" quest awarding more money than it was supposed to.
  • Fixed some typos.
  • Fixed resetting to default settings not affecting certain settings.
  • Added help menu section explaining the different types of coins.
  • Added tutorial popup about coins after you get your first silver.
  • Fixed target frame-rate drop down selection not updating correctly when you reset to default.
  • Fixed ship wheel rotation being frame-rate dependent.
  • Added view recent patch notes button in main menu.
  • Fixed time not pausing in escape menu if you had previously played and quit to the main menu.
  • Fixed a bug with clams dropping multiple pearls at once.
  • Added new ship decoration items.
  • Reduced the amount of plant fibers required to make arrows and plant oil.
  • Increased the difficulty of the Skeleton Warlord and Old Tree Guardian Boss.
  • You can now loot tankards.
  • You can now read closed books.
  • Reduced the distance at which some islands can start spawning. Note this means some islands will change types and you may find yourself on a different looking island than when you last played, or potentially under the island geometry. You can swim out or use the return to ship feature in the escape menu if this happens. Your in-game map items will update automatically to reflect new POI locations.
  • Ships now have increased speed based on their rarity. You can view a ship's speed in the inspection pop up window.
  • Increased how quickly you level up early in the game.
  • Increased the amount of experience you get from quests.
  • Added a Guide NPC to Seaports that offers helpful advice.
  • Added a quest tutorial popup the first time you interact with a job board quest.
  • Updated the description on some new ship recipes and lowered their cost.
  • Reduced the cost of the mailbox ship upgrade item.
  • Added a "Map Buttons" element on the map UI to make it more obvious you can click the buttons.
  • Reduced the frequency of pirate and merchant idle sounds.
  • Increased the amount of healing you get from strong health potions.
  • Increased the interaction distance on some items.
  • Increased the amount of mining ores you can find on islands.
  • Arrows now only require one flint to craft instead of two.
  • Fixed an issue with the Draught of Vitality potion not having a cooldown.
  • Fixed an issue with the sleeping bag ship decoration item defaulting to the retrieve action instead of the sleep action.
  • Fixed an issue with ship decoration candles slightly floating.
  • Fixed an issue with some pots not being lootable in loot caves.
  • Updated some caves that were similar to each other to now look a bit different.
  • Added some rare items to early loot drops.
  • Improved Warlord's Cleaver stats.
  • Fixed issue where the force small waves option was not saving.
  • Updated formatting on load local backup file names displayed in game.
  • Fixed being able to sneak attack rocks.
  • Added 60 fps limit to lavaboots logo scene, hopefully to help address some crashes on startup.

Greetings! Welcome back to yet another weekly dev log, where I keep you up to date on everything taking place in the game and where things are headed.

What have I worked on this past week?
This past week I worked on creating a new trailer for the game, as well as updating the GIF on the store page too. The last trailer that was showing for the game was over a month old, and I felt that enough had changed in LoC to warrant a new trailer, especially with the Steam Next Fest fast approaching.

I also redid the GIF that plays on the store page, because that was made even before the last trailer, meaning that it was quite old and outdated. I hope that with both of these updates that people coming to the store page can really understand and get a feel for the game.

This week was also spent on many bug fixes and improvements. There were a lot of strange behaviors with the AI that I believe are mostly ironed out now, such as NPCs doing a strange dance when leaving combat, being unable to open doors, and not reacting to things as they should have.

Overall, this was a week spent polishing and preparing the game for the Steam Next Fest, and although I want to keep creating content for LoC, I need to make sure there aren't any glaring issues before more people see the game.

Where are things headed?
I plan to spend this last week before the Fest polishing and fleshing out some of the characters, meaning giving starting items to every character and maybe adding in an ability or two if I can. Unfortunately, with University I cannot spend as much time as I would like on the game, so I must work with the time I have.

1.大幅度优化了多人版本的资源投放(由于第一次做开放大服的生态,所以我们相对谨慎;这里对诸位道友今天的资源缺乏表示歉意。我们接下来会贴近实际情况做随时调整):
1)重新根据服务器生态调整所有怪物的产出分布,尤其重点加强了小怪与精英的产出
2)大幅度降低了首领级Boss的刷新时间
3)开始提前推进更多的大地图资源投放以及提前开放洞天福的玩法(这个预计得到二测了)
2.优化野外PK规则:
1)增加新手保护期;现在筑基期以上才能自由pk啦
2)增加红名阶段机制:每到一个阶段红名都将领取一个负面状态,比如突破几率降低;吸收灵气速率降低等等。明日更新初步实现,后续持续优化)
3)复活点增加安全区(明日更新)
4)PK荣誉机制(还在激烈讨论中)
3.持续优化boss战斗判定机制:
1)增加boss归属判定(当前为首次造成伤害玩家)
2)增加伤害面板机制,所有参与玩家可按照伤害面板排名得到奖励(明后天更新)
3)组队分配优化,在现有随机获取的机制之外增加竞拍机制(争取明后天更新)
4)增加承伤、承疗得持续优化及奖励机制(国庆版本)
4. 修复旁门传承礼包中无天心丹的问题
5. 修复资源矿洞模型未刷出的问题
6. 修复家族矿洞产出资源未刷出模型的问题

II. Map Updates of Holoroth
1. Brand-new area: Boomerang Cliff
There has been something wrong with Yushan Ruins recently. The thick iceberg is becoming loose with its edge gradually melting. When the ice is melting, a new place where players can move around takes shape on the left of Yushan Ruins, called Boomerang Cliff. A dangerous mountain road leads to the area, in the middle of which currents of chill air are blowing. Be careful and don't fall off.


III. Time-limited Nightscream BOT Mode is now available
In Nightscream BOT Mode, AI opponents are more skillful than in the Hard level, and won't attack each other actively. Besides, Rebirth will remain usable till the end of the third Shadow Corruption. Come challenge them with your skill and wisdom!
Nightscream BOT Mode is a time-limited mode. We'll continue to train AI opponents and will reopen it someday.

Ⅳ. Brand-new Event: Mystery of Plumed Castle
Glory once belonged to the Plumed Castle before the downfall of Holoroth. There was the great eagle-like castle stretching to the sky, and the mysterious treasuries housing world's fortunes. But all were annihilated with the doom of Holoroth. All there left were the broken wings of the Falcon Statues, and the floating stones with strange force. Now Holoroth is confronted with desert bandits wreaking havoc, power division and faith loss to the once gloried Aquila. There, people struggle to make a living.
Event Time: 09/29/2022 update – 12/10/2022 20:00 (UTC)
Event Rules:
1.During the event, the theme of the preparation phase is changed to the Auspicious Clouds Celebration. Up-currents from specific clouds can help players jump higher! You can pick up [Crystal Stones]> in the scene of the preparation stage, or get them by looting gold and green Troves in the match, with a maximum of 10 every day.
2.Consume [Crystal Stones] to randomly unlock a location on the event page. You'll get corresponding rewards after unlocking all locations in an area. There are 7 areas in total waiting to be unlocked.
3.The first match of Nightscream Bot Mode every day earns you 1 [Doom Smasher Giftbox]. Every [Doom Smasher Giftbox] must contain 1 [Crystal Core], which can be used to unlock a designated location. Besides, you can get more rare rewards randomly from [Doom Smasher Giftboxes].
4. Participating in the external event [Forerunner GO!] can also get you [Crystal Stones] and [Crystal Cores]. Besides, you can also obtain [Dawn Treasure] and Event-limited Avatar from it.
5.After all 7 areas are unlocked, you can still use [Crystal Stone] and [Crystal Cores] on the event page to get Tae and Spectral Silk awards.

Hero Adjustments
I. Tianhai
1. When casting [The Divine Bell] and all its Skill Talents, Tianhai is immune to debuffs. But those taken effect before casting the skill will not be affected.
2. Increased the Damage Multiplier of [Ground Stomp] from 10 to 12 when Tianhai grabs two enemies in the transformed state of all Ultimate Talents.

II. Wuchen
When Wuchen is casting [Tai Chi Rift] and all Ultimate Talents, players now can press the Ultimate button to turn off Aim.

III. Valda Cui
Improved her ability to interrupt the Focus grade by her water spear when casting [Nether Nightmare] and [Nether Nightmare: Bind], now she can interrupt the golden Focus strikes.

IV. Temulch
1. Changed the airborne effect of Temulch's [Zephyr Wisp] and all his Talents to the Control effect (can ban the skills that can be cast when under attack, but can be broken by attacks with stagger effect) and optimized the performance of the action.
2. Adjusted the Ultimate [Zephyr Prison] and all his Talents. Now when Zephyr Prison takes shape, enemies in it will be imposed with the [Slowed] effect.

V. Yoto Hime
Decreased the flying/staying time of [Spirit Slash: Vortex] from 5s/5s to 3.5s/3.5s.

VI. Viper Ning
1.Viper Ning's [Yushan Enigma] can now be used while under attack and can interrupt golden Focus strikes, and the cooldown has been adjusted to 25 sec.
2.When casting [Twilight Crimson: Unchained], Viper Ning will get a 40% damage reduction.

VII. Other Adjustments
Optimized the prompt effect of some skills when the target is beyond their range.

Weapon Adjustments
I. Longsword
1. Slightly shortened the startup frames of Longswords' charged attacks.
2. Extended the duration that players can perform combos after charged attacks.

II. Spear
1. Extended the stagger time after Horizontal Strikes while sprinting, running and standing.
2. Decreased the Damage Multiplier of Airborne Horizontal Strikes from 2.01 to 1.6.

Ⅲ. Greatsword
Optimized the special effect of the second Horizontal Strike.

Souljade Adjustments
I. Longsword Souljade
Added a new Legendary Souljade: [Hepta-Detach].

In-game Adjustments
I. Combat Adjustments
1. Greatly increased players' sliding duration and max distance on the ice in Snowy Peaks.

II. Holoroth Map Adjustments
1. Increased the resources in Inn of the Dunes, Jade Pass, Altar of Tranquility, and Emberhawk.

III. Holoroth Mechanism Adjustments
1. Players can trigger the Spikes by hitting them instead of triggering them passively. The CD of triggering was decreased to 5s.
2. Added a wide-range Silence effect to Ghostly Hands after they are triggered. The Silence duration was adjusted to 8s.
3. Expanded the hit radius of the Cactus to 10m.
4. Shortened the time needed to set a Trap Clip to 1s.
5. Shortened the blinding time of Sand Konjac to 5s.
6. Adjusted the refresh locations of Spikes, Frost Moth and Trap Clip.
7. The Ballistas at the bottom left and bottom right of Plumed Castle now are refreshed randomly.

IV. Weather System Adjustments
1. Optimized the occurrence time and duration of weather at each stage.
2. Renamed "Sandstorm" as "Howling Gale", where players' ability to run toward a wall and the max range of Grappling Hook will be improved.

V. Feature Optimizations
Added the See-through effect when your teammates are blocked. (You can turn on the feature in Settings - Assist Settings - Ally See-through Effect.)

VI. BOT Mode Adjustments
Adjusted the behaviors of AI opponents at the Easy level in BOT Mode and lowered the difficulty appropriately.

VII. Omni's Nightmare Adjustments
1. Hero Echo: Explosive Shot can take effect on ranged weapons only.
2. Adjusted the airborne distance and recovery frames of Evil-Ents' Charged Horizontal Strikes.
3. Revised some expressions of in-game prompts.

Ⅷ. Spectating Adjustments
After being defeated in the Survival Modes, Killer’s info page will be shown to player automatically. You can manually close it, or it will be automatically closed as you start spectating.

Out-game Adjustments
I. Hero Badge System
1. You can check completed and ongoing phases for each Hero Badge on the Hero Badge Page.
2. Added a new Hero Badge: [Veteran].

II. Friend List Optimization
Now displays the last online time of your close friends.

III. Settlement Page Optimization
Now players can check Hero Badges and the progress of quests on the settlement page.
Ⅳ. Optimized Match History
1. Added Damage stats into the Match History Interface.
2. Rank in Match History will be shown as party rank after all party members are defeated.
3. Added Match Details into The Herald's Trial mode, where players can check detailed stats of the match.
4. You can now view other players' Match History.
5. Added "Battle Stats Setting" under "Settings-Social Settings-Privacy Settings". You can choose whether to make your Match History public.
6. Damage stats of matches before this update will not be provided. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

V. BGM Adjustments
1. Added the song "From The Ashes" by JJ Lin to Lobby BGM.
2. Replaced the BGMs in the Hero Cultivation Page of Viper Ning, Matari, Valda Cui, Justina Gu and Ziping Yin.

Feature Optimizations
I. Client
1. Improved the efficiency of loading action resources in combats to further reduce the memory usage of actions.
2. Reduced the memory usage of weapons in combats.
3. Fixed the stuttering caused by the shift of weathers in Holoroth Map.
4. Optimized some Outfit resources to reduce CPU time.

Bug Fixes
I. Weapon-related Bugs
Fixed an issue where the hit range and special effect of Nunchucks' Scale Rush didn't match.

II. Omni's Nightmare-related Bugs
Fixed an issue where Evil-Ent Lord could be stuck at Ballistas.

III. Hero-related Bugs
1. Fixed an issue where Kurumi may link to a target outside the range when using her skill [Binding Prayer].
2.Fixed an issue where Temulch may replay the ultimate animation after casting it already.

This update is focused on the video adapter issues and some other UI annoyances that people have reported. For new players, the launch and game experience should be smoother. For existing players, your current UI resolution will be used as the basis for in-game location changes described below.

Enhancements
  • Windowed mode is resizable by grabbing the edges of the window frame or right click titlebar
  • The minimum window size (windowed mode) is 1024x768 + window frame
  • Default new character UI revamped for 1024x768 courtesy of Era (Big Thanks!)
  • Fullscreen windowless mode is supported (alt-enter + video settings)
  • Fullscreen exclusive mode is supported (video settings)
  • Game windows remember their state for 3 modes (windowed, FS windowless, FS exclusive)
  • GlobalSettings.ini and UIConfig.ini are versioned (old/stale settings removed)

Bug Fixes
  • Hotbar hotslot items are grey when they shouldn't be
  • Title screen images are warped or clipped for some screen sizes
  • PlayArea resets (/pa reset) its size when moving it
  • PlayArea no longer squishes when grabbing the titlebar and bumping an edge/dragging
  • Game freezes on launch for some video adapters
  • Skills window doesn't remember its width
  • Game freezes when resuming from the screensaver
  • Video settings update their state when you change them in the menu

Thanks for your patience as we worked through these defects. Special thanks to all the help from testers who helped track down these pesky problems that weren't always easily repeatable.

We asked for feedback and, as always, our players delivered! We received more than 800 submissions within just two weeks, and it took a little longer than expected to go through it all. We attach great importance to your feedback and will use this to continue optimizing the game.
