It's that time again: we have a bi-weekly update from WRATH. Last week, we participated at Realms Deep 2022, a digital event hosted by 3D Realms and Friends, filled with world premieres, special guests, interviews, and much more. If you didn’t catch it, you can still see the liveshow here.
Why are we telling you about this? Well, during this year’s Realms Deep, we shared a new trailer for WRATH! Chock-full of never-before seen weapons, enemies, areas – and progress on content we’ve already shared!
But perhaps even more importantly, the trailer specified our new release window for WRATH: Spring 2023. We know you’ve waited a long time. We can’t wait to share everything we’ve been working on. And now, we’re inching closer to the finish line. Thank you for your patience.
For this bi-weekly update, we’ll be ‘dissecting’ the trailer for you, and in the process, we’ll be sharing a bit more detail on some of the upcoming content for WRATH based on what we’ve decided to feature in the trailer. Of course, we won’t share everything there is to know about these upcoming features – but we will give you a brief description of what you’re seeing in the trailer.
The following content – and more – will be available when WRATH releases in Spring 2023.
NEW BOSS: THE LADY OF ASCENSION First up, it’s the Lady of Ascension; WRATH’s first boss. Dodge, weave and utilize the arena around this powerful foe to bring her to ruin using your arsenal and the skills you’ve honed throughout the first episode of WRATH.
NEW ENEMY: THE PROWLER You know that feeling when you see a spider? That creepy, crawly sense of unease? Worried that it might pounce at any moment – and even worse if it leaves your line of sight, even if just for a second? That’s the feeling we’re aiming for with The Prowler. The design of this particular monster is not for the faint of heart.
NEW WEAPON: THE CRYSTALLIZER One of three weapons showcased in the Realms Deep 2022 trailer – it’s an instrument of destruction; powered by crystal energy, it’ll sear through hordes of enemies at a time. Wanna make the most of this weapon? Here’s a tip: Try using the secondary fire on a flying enemy.
NEW WEAPON: THE MACE OF DEVASTATION Harness the souls of fallen enemies to your advantage with this powerful melee weapon. While slaughtering enemies, this weapon builds up charge – which you can then use to tear through anyone standing in your way. Truly a twisted end to these tormented souls.
NEW WEAPON: THE LANCE Boom. This powerful railgun puts a stop to even the most terrifying of foes. Complete with the option to re-direct enemy fire, this weapon adds even more variety to the Outlander’s loadout.
SNEAK-PEAK OF EPISODE 2 You’ve seen these crystalline environments before in our latest bi-weekly – and in the trailer, you’ll catch another glimpse of maps from Episode 2; all of which we’re currently stuffing with encounters, secrets, details, props – and all the action we can fit.
SNEAK-PEAK OF EPISODE 3 It’s brief, but if you take a close look, you’ll spot a few frames from Episode 3 – specifically E3M2 which we’re currently adding a ton of fleshy, gory detail to. Gruesome and awesome, we hope you’ll enjoy blasting through this disgustingly fun map.
IN OTHER NEWS… Of course, this is just what we included in the trailer. We’ve got a little bit more progress to share with you from the latest 14 days:
The Brute, a new enemy, recently had it’s low-poly model finished. It’s currently being textured with all the metallic and fleshy detail it so deserves.
A variety of flesh & bone environmental setpieces for E3M2 are in progress.
The Keeper, another new enemy, is currently being textured, with an emphasis on contrast between flesh and metal.
E3M4 is seeing good progress on an area that is accessible via a blue key.
A number of metallic environments, such as pipes, are being worked on; for example for E3M3.
Concepts have been worked on for “Demon Meat” and “Flesh Tendrils”
A variety of Episode 2 Light Fixtures have recently been modeled and textured. They are currently being tested in-engine, and will soon be used to detail a number of maps.
Another environmental detail, specifically a pulsing ray, was recently added to an Episode 2 map. It adds some great atmosphere.
A number of textures – for example rusty metal and flesh with symbolic scripples – was finalized.
That’s it for this bi-weekly WRATH update. We hope you enjoyed the trailer, and we are so looking forward to sharing everything with you in the spring of 2023. Stay tuned for more dev updates!

It's been almost 2 years now that JP and I have been working on this incredible game. While being only 2 is not easy, we are proud to release a revamped Korala section today that finally starts revealing our vision for Spheriums.
The narrative was rewritten from the ground up. The story will be slowly revealed by reading the logs left by the colonist and Kindra, your AI implant. Important: All voiceovers will be redone to convey more emotions and increase game immersion.
A brand new Energy blaster weapon with two firing modes; Energy blast and vaporize missile. Use the power-up and unleash the power surge!
An antimatter railgun with two firing modes; Disintegrator and Antimatter spread. Use the power-up to fire at a blazing speed.
A new skill tree offers powerful weapon upgrades and more possibilities in upcoming updates.
A new fabricator to craft power-up and critical machinery components.
New deadly enemy, the Megapox!
We redid some enemies like the Bosboon, reworked the animation of others, and enhanced the AI.
We still have a lot of work ahead of us as we now need to complete the rest of Korala, update the three other available worlds, and finish the last two remaining worlds.
Known Issues
Previous saved games will no longer work as the save format had to change to cope with new features—an excellent opportunity to replay the revamped section.
Sometimes the battle sound will keep playing after killing all enemies. FIX: Save/Load to fix the music until we fix the bug.
The soundtrack cuts when Kindra is speaking.
Materials on the TRX IV to be redone.
The game will currently display in full screen only on the native resolution of the screen. Otherwise, it will be displayed in a window.
Resolutions with an aspect ratio different from 1.77 will result in a distorted display.

Complete Korala.
Update the other available worlds.
Smarter AI & more creatures animations.
Improve the map by showing all resources.
Improved layout and design coherency for user interface.

On September 26, 2022, a new version of Alpha 0.15 was released. The main change in the new update is the addition of a hydration control system and a large number of new sounds.
Full list of changes: - adding a hydration control system: The player character must drink any beverage once every 24 hours, otherwise after 24 hours he will start walking slowly and will not be able to do interactions with stoves, fireplaces, beds and repair items. This state ends with death after 6 hours. Hydration status is indicated by a droplet icon next to the health bar (a blue droplet means hydration and a red one means dehydration). - adding new sounds, such as the sound of eating, drinking, opening letters, snoring while sleeping, shopping, the sound when the door is closed, information about a new level, etc. - adding an artillery cannon on Moolow Isles. - adding the possibility of lighting cigarettes, which results in the loss of 50 life points with a coughing sound and information in the console. - after completing a mission for water suppliers in Yorkset, a barrel of water appears next to the player character's house - changed the name of the warning from "Warning" to " Attention" - a whole new look for Healthpak - Dr. Paul from Watown has white hair color, instead of white with a slightly pinkish tint - loading screen shows before loading a save - naming the Mountains on the Farlands scene and the mine entrance - addition of a corn farm in Moolow Isles and New Tolham - bug fix for not being able to walk in some parts of the power plant corridor, because boxes were covering them up - fixing a bug that allowed you to enter the full ocean in some places
NOTE: game saves from versions: 0.11, 0.12, 0.13, 0.14 work, you do not need to play from the beginning. The saves from the other versions still do not work and will not work, because they changed the save system in version 0.11 to the final one.
This update should fix the late-game performance issues when flames begin to spread. I had some underlying problems in my physics layer that were causing the engine to detect collisions in a very sub-optimal way, so when all those fire elements are on the screen checking for spread, it was making quite a mess.
I've refactored the physics layer completely, so you may notice some things move a little differently than before, and some things are a different speed than they were before. I'll be tweaking this moving forward to try to get back to the balance I'd found in the last patch, but for now I wanted to get this out so that everyone can enjoy the end-game without a supercomputer!
Ranged characters no longer lose their target when they run out of range.
ITEMS
New relic added.
Dropped equipment now have a slight chance to be upgraded (requires Forge to be unlocked).
ABILITIES
Damage and Healing values range changed for most abilities. Average remains unchanged.
USER INTERFACE
Holding down CTRL key now shows item Rank in both player's inventory and trade windows, while also providing a shorcut (CTRL + left-click) for quick selling and deposit.
FIXES
Sprouterphobia (Prologue Quest) can be completed once again.
