For those who don't know, I've decided to release an early version before the True Release of the next part, because this is an ONLY ENGLISH version without the french translation and without a beta read. So instead of waiting 1 or 2 months more for me to finish these tasks, I decided to give a limited access to an early version for my English players.
And then I'll take either 1 month or 2 to finish the translation and let a beta reader correct errors I missed.
So the TRUE RELEASE might take 1 month minimum to be out, I stopped giving dates because of how awfully unpredictable my side job is. This part was supposed to be out in June, that's insane to me.
Here's how to access this early version :
I already made a raffle on my DISCORD to make a player win an Early Access, join me there for future raffles and info !
The other way to get it :
Check the ‘SECRETS’ section on my PATREON page (read well how it works because Patreon is pretty weird) I launched a Patreon page as a Developer and 2D Artist, if you enjoy my work and want to support me and also get Early Access to not only the next Parts but also many other things related to the game (behind the scenes) or Photoshop files and art for it, please consider checking it.
Or if you just want to leave a tip without specific rewards you can check my Ko-fi page !
Thank you so much !
Author's note :
I'm still in a position where I can't work full time on this game since I can't be financially stable with it (not even close to be stable), so sorry for those long waits and I hope you understand that I also need to take care of my sanity and not suffocate with this amount of work. This project is TOO IMPORTANT for me, but sadly I can't really focus on it 100%. I hope one day I can.
1.1.0.8 is a huge step forward, in this new update, almost every single visual effect in the game has been either modified or entirely redesigned.
since update 1.1.0.5 I had a goal to elevate the immersion of the gameplay experience even more. challenging to stay true to the anime/cartoon stylized looks of the games. and build on top of the solid foundation that already exists.
below are only a few examples of what was changed during 1.1.0.7 and 1.1.0.8
missile engine fire visual effects
before (left) and after (right)
one of the challenges in the design was to keep things elegant yet optimized enough for every single bullet or missile in crossfar is an individual entity with properties unique to itself. so we needed to make sure thousands of projectiles flying around in space would not cause any performance issues. and we accomplished this by using new techniques to render necessary effects instead of using complex and excessive meshes or lights. this resulted in achieving the stylized aesthetics we were hoping for yet at a lower GPU and CPU cost than it took before.
so not only crossfar after 1.1.0.8 will look better in every single configuration (low-medium-high-ultra), but it will RUN smoother on almost every relatively modern machine you are using to play this game.
here are a few other examples of visual effects.
the new EMP visual effect (WIP)
the next two images are zoomed in 5X in order to show smaller details. NEW main weapon muzzle effects
a single projectile looking much more detailed than before, animated and made out of more components that are much cheaper to render.
new warp gate effects
1.1.0.8 also includes changes to the sound design of the game. although these changes are not as many as aesthetics go. but the few audio cues that were refined or entirely remade in cases add a better feeling to the events they represent in the game universe than their previous versions.
the main menu was also changed in this update. it now includes multiple live environment scenes as a background that changes every time you log in to the game.
above all maybe one of the most valued changes that 1.1.0.8 brings, is a whole new gameplay element, which allows the player to see what is happening behind the front line every time they respawn. choosing your next drone now happens inside a fully interactive 3d environment far behind those warp gates where the fleet is providing reinforcements to send into battle. with a variety of fantastic animations and effects and sound design, it feels just as good as the gameplay does when browsing your options between different classes.
it is safe to say after 1.1.0.8 we achieve the goal to make what already exists in-game perfect and now we can focus on creating new content for this game.
While my brother is busy implementing the Faerie Colony I have started making the insects that will populate the world and will be used as livestock by the faeries.
Bug Catching will be implemented together with the Faeries as an activity for Adam, for now insects will have two uses:
-Livestock for Faeries: You will be able to transfer Insects you collect to the faeries so they can make use of it.
-Collectables: We will add a few new furniture items so you can make insect collections in your home.
Every insect will have a shimmering variant with 0.1% chance of spawning, the variant is just cosmetic, these are for people who enjoy collecting.
Future uses for insects:
-Fishing bait, different bait for different fish, some fish will prefer insects as bait
-Terrariums, you will be able to build terrariums and release live insects inside.
-Filling up the museum, the player will eventually be able to fill the museum with relics and other rare items, shimmering insect collections will be part of it.
-Alchemy, this one is far into the future, but insects will be very useful as alchemical ingredients.
The most basic parts of the Faerie village might be working by next week, but the whole system could take 2 months to be finished.
