DayZ - scottyb

Greetings, survivors!

It’s been a busy 3 months but we made it. Allow us to present the first experimental build of upcoming game update 1.19 - live right now on Steam. This update is definitely one of our biggest since we released the Livonia DLC. It was hard to hide our excitement, which you probably noticed during the various teasers and streams we provided in the past few weeks.

It's impossible to cover everything in this announcement, but we will outline the most important parts of the build, along with our intentions behind some of the changes. As usual, if you’re interested in checking out the full list of additions, changes and fixes, head on over to our forums where you can find the patch notes. Here

Let’s start with something everybody will notice immediately: changes to the player’s physical movements:

Our primary focus was on fixing a variety of bugs and issues, some of which were exploited by players to gain an advantage over others (i.e. clipping through terrain and static objects).

We also looked into the issue where falling off the edges was pushing the player far too forward and decreased their speed quite a bit. This means players won’t be falling that far anymore, which will hopefully result in far fewer random deaths from stepping over tree trunks while going downhill in a forest. This will also make jumping more relevant.

We fixed an issue that now allows players to move faster up and down hills, compared to flat terrain. This doesn’t mean we’ve slowed a player down more when they’re walking through rough terrain. While it’s something we’d like to do eventually, it was beyond the scope of this update.

Moving through water was looked into as well. We didn’t really like that somebody could just sprint through water, so we decided to implement a restriction on hip level, making it so players are forced to walk (or jog, if the sprint modifier is used).
Lastly, we looked into restricting player movement while they’re in a sprint. We felt it was way too easy to maneuver at such speed, so we increased the inertia of the player’s character. This affects both the time it takes to reach full speed (or stop), as well as changing direction while in a sprint. We understand that such a change may not suit all the communities out there, so we spent some time on implementing parameters into the server-side json configuration, making it possible for server owners to tweak it to their liking (and revert to the previous state, if so desired).
Speaking of characters, we added a new (and optional) on-screen bleeding indicator, which should make cuts much more noticeable. It also allows players to learn about the amount of sources and their severity without looking at the HUD. Seen in the Article

Aside from the changes concerning characters, we also implemented the highly anticipated vehicle simulation upgrade. We integrated the latest version of Enfusion’s vehicle simulation into DayZ, thanks to the tremendous help of the Enfusion team. The primary goal was to resolve longstanding stability issues found in vehicle simulation. This is quite a huge change, so vehicles will feel different, and hopefully they’ll be more fun to drive around. Along with the new simulation, we’ve also introduced the ability to have an automatic transmission (with a certain new vehicle ;-) ), a hand brake, and a car horn. The HUD vehicle has also received a much needed update, and now offers drivers more information about the state of their vehicle. Experimental testing is the next big step for this huge chunk of work, and we’re looking forward to your feedback and results from stress testing. We have a dedicated server running the Chernarus terrain, where it’s much simpler to find a working car to drive around. You can find it under the community tab on PC under DayZ EU - DE 3524 (Experimental/Unstable/Inland Spawns/More Vehicles)

Modding with update 1.19 is a whole lot easier now because we’re introducing new tools within the diagnostic executable (DayZDiag_x64). These include a script profiler, a free camera, geometry debug options, a vehicle simulation debug, central economy debugs (including a loot spawn point editor), damage system debugs, and much more. We plan to release documentation on how to use the diagnostic executable and its debugs before the stable release.

This update also focuses on our Livonia DLC terrain, where we’ve implemented dozens of new places to explore and perhaps a few puzzles to solve. Both of our terrains have also received new dynamic events. As with any update, you can find some new firearms, as well as some other new items, which will enrich the overall sandbox. We hope you’re going to have a lot of fun exploring the new content on the experimental servers. As usual, if you find a bug or have any sort of feedback, please let us know through our official channels.
Thank you!

See you in Livonia, survivors!

On behalf of the DayZ team,
Adam

Kingdom Wars 2: Definitive Edition - Dev Konstantin
Hey Guys,

Exciting news - with our schedule freeing up, we are finally getting to the final stages of testing and QAing our 20th milestone update - and expecting it to be ready next week!

This is simply put the biggest updates we ever had for KW2. It comes with a lot of new features and improvements. The campaign has finally been fully reworked - which took months of work - it`l be worth replaying - fun and smooth on easier difficulties, and real nightmare challenge with harder difficulties.

Changes effect every area of the game from update art, GUI, and a lot of improvements to the skirmish and survival mode has gotten a lot of love, polish and balancing - from combat and zombie wave AI to the actual levels.

We also rebalanced each of the 3 playable races - with full-on re-balancing - cost, stats and economy.

And yes - we are a bit behind schedule here, as we had a major event come up for MKW and KW4 that we couldn`t miss (on this weekend), but yeah - can`t wait to share this update with you next week!

The Coach Update
We finally added the option to choose from a set of team coaches! This makes the games asymmetric and allows you to try out different play styles and counters. Each coach come with their own special sets of abilities and stat boosts to help their LADS to victory!

The trainers right now are:

Luigi from P.E.
A handsome gym teacher who enables you to sprint and leap forwards with your lads. With this pacifist set of ability, he represents the complete opposite of his brother, the oh so violent referee.

The Colonel
A military man who sends his lads into battle cleats first. His lads can perform sliding tackles, and have slightly higher HP.

O'Merlin the Arcenist Alchemist
Merlin's unknown Scottish relative. He can summon an explosive fireball! His lads come with less HP than normal, but can run a little faster.

Please report any bugs in our Discord :D

What's next?
The next few weeks, expect the following updates:
  • An airstrike ability for the Colonel
  • An arceny ability for the Alchemist
  • A better presentation of the coach selection in the main menu (It's a bit bare bones right now UI-wise)
  • A representation of the coach in the in-game UI
  • Custom visuals for each coach's lads
  • Balancing of abilities and stat buffs

Midnight Ghost Hunt - Skedog

Hey Ghosts and Hunters,

We’ve just rolled out a hot and fresh new update for all you fearsome ghouls and ghastly hunters! Update 2 comes with a brand new map, a new ghost ability, new hunter skins, new titles, an exciting new hero prop, and a weekend full of fresh blood due to a free weekend and a half off sale! Let’s dive on into the juicy details and take a peek at what we’ve cooked up now.

New Map: Carnival

The biggest and one of the most exciting things in Update 2 is the Carnival, a.k.a. Mr. Giggle’s Happyland, a quirky carnival of terrors. This theme has long been awaited by many of you in the community, and it’s pretty clear you all have excellent taste! This charming festival of fear has some really great set pieces and areas, including an eerie merry-go-round, the Alien Arcade, a Wild West Saloon with bumper cars, and Mr. Giggle’s very own Haunted Mansion complete with dangerous animatronics.

New Ghost Ability: Deflector

Deflector can summon a wispy shield that will deflect incoming projectiles. The shield lasts for 5 seconds, but is cancelled if you attack just like Phantom does. This gives you the perfect opportunity to get away from danger, revive a teammate, or consume a Hunter’s soul. You can even try to bodyblock incoming fire towards your teammates. Note that the projectiles still hit somewhere, as they deflect off the side of the bubble shield.

The shield won’t defend you from melee attacks, so watch out for those Ghostsmashers and Sledgehammers. In our tests we have found Deflector to be quite effective, and really shake gameplay up a bit in fun ways.

Although the ability is cancelled if you attack, you can still use it to position yourself for a follow-up assault.

New Hunter Skins

Who’s ready for some new cosmetics? Yeah, me too. We’ve got three brand new Hunter skins for you all:

Paramedic - fully outfitted with PPE, a medical vest, and a nifty stethoscope (it may not be functional, but it looks cool!)

Pilot - a metal-studded fighter pilot with a sick flight suit

Old Hippie - the 60s may be long gone, but they left their mark - the Old Hippie has some sweet and colorful duds with a pretty rad flower patch (y’know, the kind of patch you put on clothes)

New Hero Props

If you caught the trailer for Update 2, you’ve probably seen some fun new hero props! If I were a Hunter, I’d be careful of the Jack-in-the-boxes or you might get bonked. There might also be some bumper cars that are exceedingly good at bumping away Hunters.

New Unlockable Titles
In this update, we’ve made some improvements to Challenges - now when you complete a Challenge, it will display the Challenge you’ve completed to make it easier to keep up with those you’ve completed and move on to the next one. In addition to this improvement, we’ve got four new titles that you can now unlock by completing in-match Challenges. You can now unlock and use the following titles to show off your skills:
  • Apprentice
  • Master
  • Grandmaster
  • Legend
New Song
Ghostwood Empire has done it again! This new tune with a late 80s-inspired feel will most definitely give the Hunters a boost while they listen to it in the van on their way to hunt ghosts. The song “Flight of the Kite” is a tribute to nobody else but our favorite cat in a tophat (and lead dev 😉), Kite. The song has also been added to the Midnight Ghost Hunt Soundtrack.

Free Weekend and 50% Sale
It’s always exciting for us when new people discover MGH. Even though we’re still in the early days of MGH and there’s a lot more coming, we want more folks to experience the magic with us. To support that discovery and to celebrate Update 2, this weekend we’ll be having a free weekend on Steam! The free weekend will run from September 22nd to 26th.

Those of you who are checking out this post because you’ve newly fallen in love with MGH over the free weekend, you’re in luck! MGH is also now 50% off, so there’s no better time to snag a copy. If you’re a new player concerned about carrying over your progress from the free weekend, worry not! All of your progress from throughout the free weekend will carry over if you decide to give it a test run first and purchase it on the last day of the deal.

In addition to the base game being on sale, you can also get 50% off the Early Backer Bundle, Early Backer Pack, and the Soundtrack if you’d like to show a bit of extra support during our Early Access period.

Sick Fits - MGH Merch is now available

If you want to rep your favorite prop hunt game, you can snag some sick fits over on our brand new merch shop. We’ve got hoodies and shirts for that ectoplasmic drip, and you can get them both now. The collection includes backpacks, mousepads, and posters, too. We’ve also got mugs, so you can enjoy your favorite drinks, but we can’t promise they come 100% unpossessed, so you may find yourself periodically wondering if it’s going to hop off the desk and attack you. It probably won’t, but might as well buy one now and find out!

Dedicated Servers and Host Migration coming VERY soon
We have been working extremely hard on dedicated servers and host migration, and while we were striving to get them included in this update, they still need some final touches and more testing before we can roll it out to everyone. We expect these to be wrapped up very soon though, and we will be releasing them as soon as we feel they are ready. We know both of these features are very highly requested, and it is a number 1 priority for us to get them done. Thanks for being patient, and we should have some news to share on these very, very soon.

That’s all, folks! At least for now. 😏 The spooky season is approaching, though, so keep your eyes peeled for even more updates! We just might surprise you with something special. A great place to get your news and updates is our Discord server, where players and our team hang out on the daily. We’ve also got a really great Twitter, so go give it a follow for the memes! Have a great weekend Ghosts and Hunters, and look out for more updates soon!
