Wizards and Warlords - Valravn Games
  • Game settings now have a panel for modifying mechanics in the same manner as mods can do. This includes constants related to mana nodes, road building, character hire pool and more.
  • Mods can still modify mechanics. The order of priority is 'Game Settings' > 'Mods' (by load order) > 'Built-in Defaults'.
  • Export button available during setting to export currently overridden mechanics to a text file, which can then be used in a mod.
  • Additional options for custom units, such as lances for cavalry (not taking up a weapon slot), holy warriors, fleet of foot, berserkers, unyielding, etc. Availability depends on cultural factors.
  • Custom unit types that are not available to lacking city/fortress/tower upgrades are now listed when 'unavailable' is toggled in the recruitment panel.
  • New special culture weapon variant: Hornbogi.
  • New construct/golem material base templates: Copper, Crystal, Gold.
  • Break Defense now has a wider and more smoothly scaling ability to reduce the effectiveness of defensive abilities/equipment
  • Melee fend/parry chance is now impacted by additional equipment traits/abilities and unit abilities. This applies to source and target of an attack both (depending on abilities/traits).
  • Crystal Deposits can now spawn from additional events
  • Population alignment variation/overrides now affect grouping/description in various places. For example, instead of '2 Ogre Noble' where one is good and the other default neutral, the game can now show '1 Ogre Noble, 1 Ogre Noble (Good)'.
  • Wizard Templates can now be cloned.
  • More detailed unit round results can now be shown during grid battles on unit selection.
  • New spells: Voltaic Blitz (Air), Chime The Bell of Unity (Celestial), Intractable Infection (Pestilence)
  • New (unit) Mark type: Vampirism. Exists in Lesser/Normal/Greater versions as the other Marks.
  • New custom unit special options: Shadow Warriors, Old Guard, Druidic Warriors. These are available based on cultural traits.
  • New item: Ring of Futuresight.
  • Added more Divine Favor Boon options for some domains.
  • Some ranged attacks now have a minimum range (in addition to maximum) within which they are usable. This is to represent various arcing attacks or similar, that simply aren't usable at short range.
  • Attack Reach now has a greater impact on battle resolution. Not quite as much as I'd like, but closer to that point.
  • Mythos Editor can now import directly from a save game file, allowing a randomly generated mythos to be saved for reuse in another game - and modified (although not for the actual on-going save game) if desired.
  • Added a filter toggle to the Spellbook panel to hide/show battle/world spells as relevant.
  • New game setting options for Favored character mechanics and loyalty impact added. This range from free use of Favored characters to limited use - and from high loyalty impact to no impact.
  • Fixed a bug causing custom unit type designs to not be deleteable under several circumstances.
  • Fixed a bug sometimes causing save game corruption during autosave. It could range from inconsistent or missing data to creating completely unloadable save files.
  • Fixed a bug causing empty dungeon expeditions to linger and cause various confusing messages and/or error prompts.
  • Fixed a bug causing weapon variant tags to not apply correctly
  • Fixed a bug causing equipment melee shock modifiers to sometimes not apply correctly
  • Fixed a number of text/spelling errors
  • Fixed a bug causing Set Defense to sometimes reduce defensive effectiveness rather than the opposite
  • Fixed a bug causing custom unit types to sometimes not be recruitable at sites they should be.
  • Fixed a bug causing multistrike to not be considered correctly in AI considerations of attacks and expected battle outcome.
  • Fixed a bug causing battles to sometimes not end when they should due to a stalemate.
  • Fixed a display bug related to city culture and effects.
  • Fixed a crash bug involving custom unit design.
  • Fixed a bug relating to a unit being affected to resistance and vulnerability to the same damage type (from effects, etc.) not always resulting in the correct combined outcome (ie +2 and -1 should yield +1).
  • Fixed a number of bugs causing missile attack range to incorrectly calculated and allowing for attacks at outside the allowed distance, or sometimes not within the allowed distances.
  • Fixed a number of attack resolution bugs that affected both auto and manual resolution making some units less effective than intended by not triggering some abilities and inherent attack bonuses.
  • Fixed a bug causing faction alignment override to not always be applied as intended.
  • Fixed a bug related to Wizard Tower upgrade slot unlocking.

It's available on the beta branch, and will be put on the main branch tomorrow. This includes some of the patch notes for the latest main branch update, but I got the notes messed up, so I have to merge them into a single update.

The last update, which is thus included in this, took a lot longer to release than expected. Quite to an extreme degree, really. A very nasty save game corruption bug was discovered, and it took a long time to identify - and then an almost equally long time to fix. Hence these patch notes are also somewhat sparse. But save game corruption is a really horrible thing in a game such as this, so I didn't think there was any way around giving that particular issue my full attention until fixed - even if it was relatively uncommon to encounter the bug. Especially when it turned out the risk increased the longer the game had gone on and/or the large the game world you're playing in was. I'm really glad it is fixed now. I also spent the time creating new ways to debug and troubleshoot save game problems, which will help if/when future bugs occur related to save games. Although I really do hope nothing like this bug turns up soon - or even at all. It was quite a tribulation to identify the flaw in my save game code (for those interested in the technical details it was related to some thread synchronization problems when autosaving in the background, and one thread erroneously assuming the save was done and letting turn processing continue while the other thread was reading the game state).

Alien Colosseum - First Player Studios
This playtest currently features all current playable aspects of the game to give players a chance to explore the different mechanics and provide feedback on current balance issues or general bugs.
This game is still a work in progress, and this playtest does not represent the quality of the final product.

The current planned schedule for this playtest is from now until September 18th. At which point I plan to pause the playtest during the steam events that Alien Colosseum is participating in until October 10th. However, during this time there will be a demo to play. Then the playtest will be opened again from October 11th until the official release of Alien Colosseum on November 9th!

This schedule may change but I will provide warning when the playtest will end.
World of Warships - WoWarships Admiral

Update 0.11.8 brings in quite a lot of changes to Operations.
  • Operation of the Week is now replaced with a randomly offered Operation.
  • You can enter battle playing Tier VI–VIII ships in any Operation.
  • The 30-minute restriction for re-entry into battle playing the same ship has been removed.
  • One-time rewards for earning stars have been replaced with special combat missions.
  • The following Operations are back in the game: The Ultimate Frontier, Hermes, and Cherry Blossom.

    Please note that you can only play Operations after reaching Level 14 in your Service Record.


Participation in Operations
Operations in our game has long been a battle type that was not very popular. One-time rewards and restrictions on the choice of ships didn't make them too popular among players. We've done our best to make Operations more diverse in Update 0.11.8.

Now, you can join an Operation playing Tier VI–VIII ships. The final team composition will affect the strength of bots, depending on the ship tiers. This way, you will be able to take part in Operations with even more ships while also advancing along the Tech Tree ship branches.

The 30-minute restriction for re-entry into battle playing the same ship has been removed. Now, you can take up a new Operation at the helm of your favorite ship immediately after the end of the previous one.

We decided to try out a new approach and replace Operation of the Week. An Operation will now drop randomly when playing within a team where allies are matched to battle automatically, making the mode more diverse for those who play it on a regular basis. You will still be able to select an Operation of your liking when part of a Division.

    Earnings in a randomly picked Operation will be, on average, 25% higher compared to a hand-picked scenario. It won't matter whether you play solo or in a Division. You will not know what awaits you in battle, so you will receive more resources for its successful completion.
    We will closely monitor your feedback and share the details with you.


Economy and Rewards in Operations
You will now be able to receive valuable rewards in Operations regularly. First of all, we have removed stars. Secondly, completing secondary tasks when successfully completing an Operation will keep bringing you extra Credits and XP. And one-time rewards for earning stars have been replaced with daily and weekly combat missions:
  • Every day, your first victorious battle will bring you 30 Community Tokens
  • Three combat missions will be available every week. Earn Base XP and get up to 1,300 Community Tokens per week (or up to 5,200 Community Tokens per month)
  • Completing 8 out of 12 weekly combat missions will reward you with a Supercontainer


Three Operations Are Back
With Update 0.11.8, we are bringing back three long absent and highly awaited Operations, increasing the total number of available scenarios to eight. Welcome the return of Operations The Ultimate Frontier, Hermes, and the night-lit Cherry Blossom!

The Ultimate Frontier


The tense situation at sea forced your squadron to disperse forces across two areas. The primary mission is divided into two submissions, during which you will join forces with the second group of ships.

An important project of Japanese scientists and engineers is at stake, requiring evacuation along with classified documents. You will need to escort transport aircraft to the aerodrome while saving at least 45 planes from the aircraft reinforcements.

An important point is the repair base in the center of the map, which can be used to restore the HP of allied ships. You cannot let the foes take that base! Suppose you successfully repel all attacks: At the end of the scenario, you will then be able to switch to attack and sink the enemy aircraft carrier Raptor, familiar to you from other Operations, as well as help allied aircraft destroy the remaining enemies.

Primary task
Protect the group of transport aircraft arriving at the base. Defend the aerodrome until embarkation is finished and the aircraft leave the base.

Secondary tasks
  • Save at least 3 forts
  • Do not let the enemy occupy the repair base
  • Destroy aircraft carrier Raptor
  • Destroy 2 ships attacked by aerodrome squadrons within the allotted time
  • Save at least 45 planes from aircraft reinforcements
Hermes


A squadron of battleships with holds filled with gold is on a raid through the Atlantic to the American shores. You are tasked with the mission to escort the ships to a safe sector while repelling enemy attacks of superior forces. A thunderstorm raging at the expected encounter point makes your mission even more challenging. Harsh weather conditions reduce spotting and detectability ranges, but this can be to your advantage—moving inside the cyclone makes it harder for your ship to be hit due to the increased dispersion of incoming shells.

Once you are halfway to your destination, you will be able to repair the received damage. For 100 seconds, the leading transport ship will be restoring the HP of ships moving in her vicinity.

Primary task
Escort the squadron led by flagship Ruan to the designated sector. Make sure the gold is transported safely.

Secondary tasks
  • Destroy 100 enemy aircraft (this task is split into two stages)
  • Make sure battleship Ruan retains more than 50% of her HP
  • Save at least 3 allied battleships
  • Destroy aircraft carrier Adler
  • Destroy 20 enemy ships or destroy 5 enemy battleships (specific task is selected randomly)
Cherry Blossom


The fighting unfolds under the veil of night in the Empress Augusta Bay. As part of the 12th Cruiser Division under the command of Rear Admiral Merrill, your task is to defend the position of the 3rd Marines Division and clear the region of enemy forces. The top priority, however, is for you to protect transport ships from a squadron of Japanese destroyers controlling these waters. Try not to get caught in the crossfire when entering illuminated areas, which appear as a result of enemy illumination shells being launched into the sky.

The second part of the Operation begins at dawn. Your only mission will be to put the squeeze on the remaining enemy forces. Accompanied by two allied destroyers, two aircraft carriers will come to the rescue, capable of repairing nearby ships. Your ultimate task will be to destroy aircraft, the flagship cruiser of the Japanese forces, as well as the enemy's Northern and Southern aerodromes.

Primary task
Defend the marine regiments that have just disembarked. Locate and destroy enemy aerodromes.

Secondary tasks
  • Save both Liberty transport ships
  • Maintain the positions of both regiments
  • Destroy 50 enemy aircraft
  • Destroy flagship cruiser Atago
  • Save at least 4 allied ships
    In celebration of the game's Anniversary, you can expect many other combat missions with valuable rewards. Details of the missions will be available in the game client.
