September has arrived, which means it's almost time for the Build-A-Thon! In case you missed it, Escape Simulator's next room building event will take place from 17-09-2022 00:00 CEST until 18-09-2022 23:59 CEST. Builders will have exactly 48 hours to build a room based on a theme that will be announced shortly before the Build-A-Thon kicks off. More information on the Build-A-Thon can be found here. Ready to join in on the room building fun? Sign up for the event via the Google Form found here.
Now that we've got all that out of the way, you could probably do with some inspiring examples of what an excellent community room can look like. Well, the dedicated room builders from our community have got you covered! So without further ado, here are our top community room picks for August!
Can you dig your way out?
We were really impressed by the sheer size of Abandoned Mine by namo_krub, which took us quite a long time to finish! In Abandoned Mine you have to escape, well, an abandoned mine. Pretty obvious, right? However, it's not going to be easy! In order to evacuate safely, you will need to face the mine's many challenges. This includes operating heavy machinery, fixing an elevator and identifying several rocks (or are they minerals?). Will you be able to make your way back to the surface?
It's a masterpiece!
Stroke of Genius is the latest room by Brengo, who you might already know from S.O.S. - An escape room out at sea and the Scientists' Office series. Brengo's latest room takes place in an art gallery which contains four different paintings made my by your recently deceased grandfather. Each painting will take you to a bite sized escape room with its own theme. Together, these four paintings will unravel your grandfather's story bit by bit. An excellent way of compiling several themes into one room if you ask us!
The final frontier!
We're always happy to see new up-and-coming room builders join our community. One new builder to definitely pay attention is GetOffMyBeard! We were really impressed with The Space Escape, which is only the second room they ever published! The Space Escape features a whole bunch of very clever puzzles that we really enjoyed solving and we think you will too! And let's be honest, you can never have enough space rooms, right?
Whodunnit?
If you enjoy some good old film noir, then you should definitely check out Noir in NYC by MelonVerse. For this room, MelonVerse has made excellent use of the recently added color filter, because the entire level is in black-and-white. Noir in NYC also features some excellent voice acting by community member and room builder Robin, which really adds to the room's atmosphere. You're going to need your detective skills in order to solve this murder mystery, so be prepared for some tricky puzzles!
Ready to build?
We hope all of these excellent rooms have inspired you to start building yourself! If they did, why not sign up for the Build-A-Thon right away? If you need help to start your room builder journey, you can also consider joining us over on Discord or Reddit. Thanks again for all of your support and we hope to see you on September 17th when the Build-A-Thon commences!
We're working on some role improvements and would like to collect your thoughts regarding the current state of Project Winter's roles.
This survey should take less than 5 minutes to complete. Your responses will help us focus our efforts on the communities concerns for the current roles and will help influence roles we may add in the future!
We really weren't going to release a patch until end-of-September, but the latest AMD drivers screwed OpenGL games, so emergency release it is! But you also get 3 new maps, and some deadly new threats!
Issues with AMD graphics cards Have you been experiencing strange artifacts like unreadable text? You are not alone! Starting with driver version 22.7.1, AMD has introduced multiple visual bugs to our game (and all others using OpenGL).
We tackled as much as we could on our side, but for now you should revert to an older driver version (eg 22.5.1), until AMD gets their fix together. Issues that still remain (and cannot be fixed on our side): - very bright screen (white-ish) when the game is paused. This one can be fixed by disabling MSAA - broken in-game UI (like paths) for night missions when the NVG effect is enabled - bad performance - longer game load time - possible crashes
Enemies can now man the DShK Heavy Machine Gun You know those cool MGs that were placed throughout the levels, but the enemy never touched? Now they can and they will. They are very deadly and your armor is no good against them. Luckily, they're not very accurate nor quick to turn. And in the future you'll get to man them yourself.
RMG Factions The Mission Generator has received many upgrades and improvements. Among those "under the hood" changes, it now chooses among several enemy factions to populate houses with. You might get just random Insurgents as before, or Low level cannon fodder, Forbidden Tree fanatics, Blackhead Elites and even the armored Private Security! And you might even meet some new guys here and there ;)
It's not all Random maps, though - 3 handcrafted have been added. Two of them are small and violent delights, but the last one is a meaty Extreme Rescue - your typical Single Planner Course - a large building with hallways, hostages and hotspots.
Last, but not least, our intrepid workshop mice have dug through the content and made a new collection. Enjoy:
Patch out, and come meet us in person at EGX London!
Your Devs @ KHG
Changelist for v0.34: - 3 new maps (find them in Give No Quarter, Tiny Troubles 2, Extreme Rescues 2) - made DsHk machineguns usable by enemies and replaced in most levels where appropriate - greatly improved the random mission generator algorithms and tile set - added enemy groups to the Generator. Now you don't always fight the same Jihadis. - added "Play random workshop map" option - workaround for multiple bugs introduced by latest AMD video drivers - fixed game sometimes not saving progress - many other improvements and fixes to UI and gameplay - many fixes for existing maps - coop: the "friends only" option can now be unchecked, allowing you to host custom maps - modding: updated Blender plugin - modding: fixed not being able to mod editor fonts - modding: added new Editor objects and prefabs

Dimachaeri are powerful gladiators who wield two swords to bring the fight directly to their opponents. Unlock these born fighters in Conqueror’s Blade: Colosseum today via new Unit Challenges!
Unlocking
The Dimachaeri can be unlocked by completing Seasonal Unit Challenges, and come with a Seasonal Bonus in the form of Leadership requirements decreased by 10 points for the duration of the Season.
Background
The Dimachaeri are gladiators deemed to be a crucial component of the Colosseum. They delight the baying crowds with their keen swordsmanship and battle techniques.
Able to use their straight blade and siccae swords to bash enemy shields aside before launching into a furious unblockable attack that dazes their foes, these gladiators are not to be trifled with.
Strengths & Weaknesses
This unit knows how to handle a fight like a pro, having spent enough time in the Colosseum honing an effective fighting style. Their attacks are mostly offensive, but they can also employ an acrobatic-style retreat to create distance between themselves and any pesky foe who dares to enter their zone.
The Dimachaeri do not possess shields, and are therefore exposed in ways the Myrmillones—their gladiator peers—are not. Defence is not their strong suit; they are best deployed for frontal assaults rather than holding areas or defending their leader.
Just the facts: Dimachaeri (3-Star)
Formations
Dispersed: The unit spreads out to avoid the effects of ranged attacks and artillery.
Hawk: The gladiators arrange themselves in a formation useful for launching a concentrated attack.
Unit Traits
Bread & Circuses: Leadership cost is reduced by 10 points while the Colosseum Season is active.
Nimble: Will quickly back away after attacking and maintain their distance from the enemy.
Bypass Block: Siccae swords can go around shields and deal damage that ignores Block. When using normal attacks, there is a chance the units will use its siccae sword.
Unit Orders
Siccae Lunge: Dimachaeri quickly unleash two unblockable siccae sword stabs, then pull back to maintain their distance.
Siccae Torrent: Upon engaging the enemy, Dimachaeri lunge at the enemy and unleash a powerful attack that deals a relatively large amount of damage and inflicts Dazed on soldiers. Afterwards, they unleash multiple powerful strikes.
The Dimachaeri are now available to unlock via Unit Challenges!
NOTE: The above information is correct as of the time of publication. Please check in-game for the most up-to-date Unit information.
