We are now 18 days into our Kickstarter campaign and we are still blown away by all the support we are receiving! It’s humbling and uplifting at the same time. And seeing the number of backers who pledged our game is also insane - in a good way of course (not the Cthulhu kind of insane). We thought that today might be a good day to tell you more about Dr. John Watson, Sherlock’s “other half” so to speak. After all, you will be spending quite a lot of time together in The Awakened, so you might as well get to know him just a little bit more.
Sherlock Holmes The Awakened begins at a time when both Sherlock and Watson are already living together in London at 221B Baker Street. They aren’t close friends; more like roommates that are living together out of necessity. Sherlock isn’t the famous detective that we all know him for. Those big and famous cases aren’t coming in just yet. Right now it’s more like small, petty investigations from people around the neighbourhood. Watson is a war veteran, who recently returned from Afghanistan. To make ends meet, he decided to open a medical practice. The business isn’t exactly “booming” - he only has a handful of patients and he occasionally works as a substitute for other more famous doctors in London.
His work is just that - work. However, he does have a passion that’s keeping his inner-flame alight. That passion? Writing. While in Afghanistan, Watson kept a diary to help him cope with all the negative emotions that war threw at him. Since coming back from Afghanistan, this journal helps him deal with the stresses and nightmares that he still sees in his mind ever since the war ended. And this writing bug really dug deep into him. He now wants to share his writings with the world. Sherlock’s little investigations become his inspirations. Watson is someone that believes that magic and the supernatural exist, as sometimes there are things that logic cannot explain. Perhaps he is the best companion that Sherlock could ask for, as there will be events in The Awakened that will test even the most skeptical mind.
We hope you like the sound of our Watson. There is a lot more to him, but we thought of leaving some mystery around him so there’s more for you to discover later on. Once again, thank you from the bottom of our collective heart for all the support! We’ll be giving you more details on Sherlock Holmes The Awakened as our Kickstarter campaign evolves, so stay vigilant! We’ll be talking to you real soon.
Added 6 new languages to the Demo: German Simplified Chinese Traditional Chinese (was not announced before) Korean Japanese (was not announced before) Finnish (was not announced before)
Added the SUPPORT UA button in the main menu with links to key charities that directly support Ukraine. These are the funds that are trusted by the people of Ukraine. We will keep the page updated to make sure that only the most reputable and effective funds are there. As we said from the very beginning, we do not profit from the project and no money goes through us. However, some players suggested making a page with a reputable funds list for the convenience of those who want to support Ukraine in these difficult times.
We have great news! Volunteers from different countries agreed to help us with adding new languages to the project. We are really thankful to everyone who participated in the translation and proofreading.
This means we now have at least 3 new languages that were not announced before, where we already have good progress in terms of localization, so now they are available in the Demo:
Japanese Chinese (Traditional) Finnish
Big thanks to the new volunteer translation teams:
