  • Fixed a bug where the Counting texts for Items were scaled incorrectly if the UI Scaling setting for Items was set to 50% or 75%
  • Fixed a bug where buttons and hyperlinks in the Options menu could sometimes be clicked when not visible
SCP: Secret Files - 小球球
An unexpected rainstorm near our studio recently brought heatwave temperatures back down towards normality, and we suddenly realised it had been over a month since our last proper update!

I guess we did disappear for a while. On the one hand, wishlists for SCP: Secret files have risen to over 180,000, far exceeding our expectations. We are very honored to have so many players supporting our work, but this level of trust and expectation also places more responsibility on our shoulders and makes us more focused and cautious. On the other hand, we are constantly collecting and absorbing feedback from both players and the media as we try our best to improve many aspects of the game.

Like all members of the SCP Foundation, we are willing to work silently in the dark to create a better and more vibrant world.



However, perhaps due to the gameplay style showcased in our Steam Next Fest demo, or maybe because the most popular SCP games tend to lean heavily on horror, we have discovered that a considerable number of players believe that SCP: Secret Files will be a 100% horror-focused game.

Allow us to clear up any confusion - horror is simply one element of the SCP: Secret Files experience.

Unlike some other SCP games that focus on a specific gameplay style (such as first-person shooter, survival horror, etc), our aim was to bring SCP stories to life in a more diverse way based on our understanding of SCP fiction and mythology. Of the various anomalies depicted in our game, some will be benign or even friendly, while others are grotesque and highly dangerous. We are eager to tell their stories from different angles and styles, and in the process highlight the interesting and varied world of SCP. As mentioned on the Steam page, through the course of the game players will:
investigate a mysterious hydroelectric power plant,
immerse themselves in an uplifting fable,
delve into a bizarre, retro-inspired world,
and much more besides!

All of these adventures are tied together through a framing narrative that has you take on the role of a rookie Foundation researcher. Are you ready to become the newest hire at Site-105?



Finally, let's talk about everyone's favorite plague doctor - SCP-049. You love him, we love him - apart from "the pestilence", everyone loves him! However, as we approach the launch of the game and the finished story comes into view, we've had to make a tough decision regarding 049. Originally slated to play a role in the main game, we'd decided to instead focus an entire section of DLC around this character. We want to do justice to SCP-049, and it became clear that this wouldn't be possible if we tried to incorporate him into the story as it now stands. Development of this DLC chapter will begin while the main game receives pre-launch polish, so you won't need to wait too long to see what we have planned!

Slap It Together! - Mattabulous
Hello contestants!

It's been a while since we previously posted a devlog. Reason being, we've had an incredibly busy few months ironing out bugs, adding new features and adapting to a new workflow!

Firmer Art Direction

Throughout our prototype's development, we had used a screen-space shader to outline all objects. We didn't have much control over this behaviour and it wasn't adding anything to the game's art style.

Lighting was another big issue for us, and we knew something had to be done to solve the lacklustre art direction.

Now that we had solved this glaring issue, we needed to revamp our hub area (AKA 'The Pit')


Revamped:


Our goal with this was to really hammer home on the lore of the game. The Pit is supposed to feel like a super-happy place with an underlying evil. To do this, we believed that making the players feel watched would communicate this to a degree.


Rooftop Drones

Whilst still in active development, we've been implementing a new addition that'll further enforce the gameshow feel. Drones will float around the levels and watch you intently..



Build Zones

A massive issue with our Insomnia 68 demo was that progression was dull. Whilst still not perfect, we've implemented 'Build Zones'. These zones require certain items in order to complete which results in any change us developers wish. For example, building a wooden bridge will allow players to walk over to another location. Or allow zombies to walk over to you!

● A "sea of stars" has appeared at Terrmian Beach.            
- Plankton riding the tides of Terrmian Beach have formed a "sea of stars," the movement of the waves causes a bioluminescent effect.            
- You'll be able to enjoy the incredible view of the "sea of stars" brightly shining come nightfall.            
- An aurora will appear in the night sky of Terrmian beach. We hope the aurora in the night sky brings good luck to our Adventurers.

- The following region quests will be automatically accepted upon entering the specific monster zone with a character from Lv. 61. (Once per Family)
- The following quests can be viewed in the Monster Zone Info UI.

My Time at Sandrock - 样
Howdy builders,

Sandrock Multiplayer Closed Alpha will start this Friday (Aug. 5th) and we can't wait for players to experience the world of multiplayer with fellow builders!



The multiplayer version shares a separate timeline from the singleplayer story, where the story of Sandrock is compressed into relatively short gameplay. Players can experience historical events that happened in the town of Sandrock and meet familiar faces from singleplayer storylines.

During the livestream, the devs will try out Multiplayer Closed Alpha gameplay, play with friends and get a feel of the multiplayer ourselves. We'll also explain future milestones and plans for multiplayer in future updates. Additionally, just like our previous streams, we'll cover some Q&A in the chat in case players have questions!

Appropriately adjusted shields' ability to absorb damage from explosives and flamethrowers.

2. Mediator MG
Increased basic damage for single shots from 44 to 46.

ADJUSTMENTS & OPTIMIZATIONS
1. Players will have longer-distance audio visualization prompts after ACE time starts in Battle Royale Mode. At the same time, added audio visualization of enemy pilots within a certain range for players who are controlling mecha.
2. Optimized the League Pass display effect, and now you can click the card to switch the display character or mecha. In addition, League Pass will be used for the loading page display of Team Deathmatch and other modes.

This should fix any issues with ports not appearing when loading from a save game.

This update also includes a slight change to the ocean rendering so that it is a bit more reflective and less clear in the distance. This stops sharks from looking like they are flying when seen at a distance while maintaining water clarity close to the player.
