Spectre Of Eternity - thundersnow.publishing
Devlog #1

When I started the journey to make SoE, I had a very clear image of what I wanted the game to be and how it would play. I also had a very clear budget on how much I could spend to create the game. As development carried on, it became very clear that the full idea wasn’t going to be possible, but I could probably make a fun bullet hell as a shell and then after release I could add on to it to fill in the gaps that were left by the budget. But after some thinking about it, in order to try and reach as many people as possible I will need to add on to the game anyways. It’s pretty hard to advertise a $2 game after all. So, while the game is in it’s infancy I will leave the price as is, but as I add to the game to make it full and complete, to be the final vision I had for it, the price will also need to increase. But I do have quite a few ideas to get there in the meantime. The updates are going to be as below.

The Boss Update

One of the last things I had to cut from my original design were the bosses of the levels. While the game has certain special encounters that come up to try and break up the waves, the bosses I want to be super challenging encounters that offer permanent upgrades to the mech that you can't find anywhere else if you beat them at the end of the level. I also don't want them to be the same for each level, so have a few that the game can select randomly. A couple of small changes to the game as well, like a new level to include, new weapons, new upgrades, and a new animation to bring the mech a little more to life. And also Steam achievements.

The Multiplayer Update

I would love to have a multiplayer mode for the game as well to try and compete against friends, and have a co-operative mode as well. I think with the dynamics that the game has it would lend itself greatly to a multiplayer format. For the competitive mode, customize your mech’s weapons and face off against a friend or random to collect upgrades through a standard amount of waves and then face off against one another for glory! And then co-operative would be exactly that. Have a short adventure mode with friends through a few short events that you can vote on to try and progress to your target boss to beat. I’m thinking something similar to the old Ninja Turtles games but allow people to vote which level to go to next like the star fox 64 select screen.

The Adventure Mode

By far it will be the hardest of the modes to build. Create a whole story to try and beat. I would like the end to be accessible from the start of the adventure, and then having to get strong enough to face the end by chasing down different upgrades while trying to survive through the world. Will need to create more levels enemies, and upgrades for this. Would be the final step to the finished game.

I think once these additions are added to the game, I would be happy to move on to another game. While I'm unsure how fast these devlogs will come, I will try to update everyone as the updates come to me. But until the next one, stay cool out there pilots!

Path of Exile - CommunityTeam_GGG
This next installment of our Divination Card Stories series comes from kx10yf, creator of Rebirth and Renewal. Discover the tale behind their card in today's post!

Hello,

I'd like to share my story behind the design of the divination card: "Rebirth and Renewal". I have played Path of Exile on and off since its Beta release in 2013. I love this game because of its depth in gear crafting and its endless build possibilities. Every season is a brand new experience for me.

Since the significant buff of the summoner class in 3.8, I have started to play some builds like spectre, zombie, and raging spirits. I always love playing summoner classes in other Action RPGs, and this buff gave me the opportunity. Unfortunately, the summoner class has been balanced several times along the way after 3.8, but it is still lots of fun. Inspired by some forum patrons (Kay, for example), it is exciting to find some new feasible spectres, to incorporate new uniques into the builds, and to refine the builds by delving into major seasonal contents.

I have purchased several supporter packs, including the Exalted supporter pack released way back in 2013. Yet I never considered designing a divination card, as this is expensive for me. During the pandemic, I had more time to play video games, thus I decided to support and involve myself in the development of the game that I love and have played for so many years.

The name of the card, "Rebirth and Renewal", mirrors my playstyle as a summoner, which brings the undead army back to life that fights for me. While I designed this card, I thought of Gandhi's enlightening words: "Each night, when I go to sleep, I die. And the next morning, when I wake up, I am reborn." Every day is new to us, we should embrace life with enthusiasm and passion.

Scarabs are an important item in-game to modify maps, and in ancient Egyptian myths, it is also a significant symbol for resurrection. The name, the flavor text, the reward, and the art all match the theme of a summoner build. This pandemic has had some adverse impacts on people's daily lives. I hope everyone sleeping in misery could wake up without pain and grief.

I believe we will come across each other in-game in due course, and I hope that this new card would give you some joy and help you find some good items in maps. Stay healthy and prosper, Exiles!

NeoTerra - BlackStarForge
MAJOR UPDATE for ROGUE EARTH Playtest
Builds 0.2.2 - 0.2.4 containing:

1. VISUAL ASSETS OVERHAUL - I have made new designs or reused my older versions to assure there will only visuals assets which I made myself, and also to distance from Kurzgesagt's style (funny story).
These visual assets changes include:
  • 8 redesigned or new buildings
  • 10 redesigned nature and terrain objects
  • 5 UI and other redesigns and several minor changes
  • new temporary logo

2. BUG FIXES and MINOR CHANGES - There have been couple of minor bugs and bigger annoyances I have found since last testing, some of them coming or been uncovered by visual changes. And also I have added or changed few things in game:
  • Adjusted building costs, resource production and build times to make the game more challenging and each building construction more important
  • Adjusted some of the UI text and image panels to fit better
  • Fixed roads placement replacing terrain even if loaded
  • Fixed trees prefab changes to proper types
  • Disabled animation rotation transfer between prefab switching before I fix it
  • Disabled huge mountain generation since there is no image for it anymore
  • Added gradual temperature changes based on days of game passed matching seasons
  • Added timed event after 365 days to end playtest
  • Added social media links to main menu, if you wanted to give feedback on game
  • Added credits on main menu, mostly to due to legal need to credit music tracks

3. MUSIC REPLACEMENT - I have replaced three original music tracks made for the game with selected 7 music tracks from several authors (under commercial use copyright).
It is hard to replace something custom made, but I have searched through many tracks to find some good fitting one, and I am content with how it turned out.

FUTURE
Rogue Earth is in strange living dead state, where I will make polished as possible for the playtest during August, but at the same time I do not plan to continue its development in serious manner. Or unless it reaches some good traction and lots of wishlists on Steam.
Thank you for reading this update, hope you will enjoy playtest when it arrives to you.
RealFlight Trainer Edition - Redbeard
We are pleased to announce RealFlight Trainer Edition version 1.00.025! This update adds new HobbyZone AeroScout training content as well as our first Steam achievements! These achievements target the beginning pilot. See below for more details on these and other changes.

Features
  • Added training lessons featuring the HobbyZone AeroScout S 1.1m
  • Added achievements for each of the following:
    - completing all the AeroScout training courses
    - completing all the Apprentice training courses
    - completing all the Habu training courses
    - accruing 2 hours of total flight time
    - accruing 4 hours of total flight time
Improvements/Fixes
  • Fixed an occasional crash when changing aircraft
  • Training lessons are sorted into tabs by vehicle
  • Integrated controller-related improvements from RealFlight 9.5S, including:
    - New radio profiles (see footnotes 1 & 2 below)
    - Better Spektrum DXS support
    - "Deadband Percentage" defaults to 0 (see footnote 3 below)
    - RealFlight displays a reminder to turn off your transmitter on exit when using a Spektrum WS1000/WS2000 dongle
How to Get It
Steam will detect the new version and automatically update RealFlight when it thinks your computer is not very busy. You can trigger the update manually if desired by completely restarting Steam. Right-click the Steam icon in your system tray and select Exit. Once everything closes, run Steam again, and the update should complete.

Footnotes
Note 1: One of the great things about the NX series radios is that they can connect directly via USB cable without the need for any additional hardware. If you are connected this way, select the new "Spektrum NX series (Wired USB)" radio profile in the Select Controller dialog. (RealFlight will automatically default to this profile if it detects an NX transmitter.) On the other hand, if you connect your NX using a Spektrum WS1000/WS2000 dongle, select the "Spektrum Receiver (NX Series)" radio profile.

Note 2: Mode 1 users should also change the radio gadget display mode. From the main menu, select Gadgets -> Radio Mode (gadget only) -> Mode 1.

Note 3: This setting will not change automatically for users who have run previous versions of the software. You will need to change it manually if desired. (Resetting everything to defaults will also do it.) From the main menu select Simulation -> Settings... Then in the Settings dialog, select Controller in the left pane and adjust Deadband Percentage as desired.
