Hello! After a few months delay, the beta V1.4 is here! This update adds three new location, and introduces the Kadan War and its mechanics. A dozen new weapons and armors are also added, along with 14 new enemies. Content is now up to about lv30(Game should be complete around lv50)

Greetings, Researchers!

I've been working on the main storyline and NPC content, but can’t share much about those yet. Instead, I'll share some of the improvements and additions to Research Story this month!

Research
Improved Research UI 📖
I’ve revamped the research UI - players can now select one research item and look at its specific tasks. The new format gives more clarity, uses larger fonts, and looks prettier in my opinion :) This also means I can have more flexibility in the types and number of research tasks for each plant/creature/fish without things looking too cluttered, which leads us to… varied research mechanics!

One of the feedback from the demo was to have more varied research mechanics, particularly for creatures. I agree that some variation keeps the game fresh. Now, plants and creatures can have different research tasks tagged to them. For example, some creatures require you to find and record their footprints! 🐾✨

Fishing
Fishing Spots 🐟
Fishing Spots can randomly appear in the water, indicated by a swimming fish. By fishing there, the waiting times for fish bites are reduced, and getting a fish to bite is confirmed. This would be helpful when players are specifically trying to find some fish to catch! The fishing spot fades away after a few catches.

New NPC reveal: Sesame! 🐱
I’ve been working on more NPC portraits - and here is one for Sesame! He’s a fisher in Shimmerbrook and is super awesome and fluffy. And yes, Sam is short for Sesame <3

I’m also honoured to share that we won 2nd place in the Colors of Indie Awards 2022! It’s a really nice boost in motivation and I’m grateful to be a part of the event hosted by Mooneye Studios. Check out the event site here!

Binko is Yurukill Land’s kimono-clad, mask-wearing guide. She is polite, and old-fashioned in her speech, yet when dealing with the Prisoners, she’s sharp-tongued and quick to ridicule. Variations of the phrase, “bin-bin,” are her trademark. Under the auspices of Yurukill Inc., she oversees the games offering the Prisoners a chance for acquittal at Yurukill Land.

As I was reading through the script for Yurukill: The Calumniation Games, with all its twists and turns and nail-biting developments, I was wondering just how it would end. Erm... "Are you gonna talk about all the unique characters?" Yes, exactly! Thanks, Binko, you're the best. "You leave this to me." Where was I? Yeah, so just like Binko said, the characters are all so unique, they're sure to steal your heart given half the chance. I really hope that players are won over by just how interesting they all are, and get sucked right into the story. How was that, Binko? "Thanks for that. Everyone! I’m waiting to meet you all in the wonderful world of Yurukill!"

The Ranking system and Special Operation Missions have now been integrated into the game. You can refer to the in-game manual for information about the new features.

NOTE: This a big update and requires you "CLEAR HIGH SCORES" for it to work properly. Sorry for the inconvenience but it will be worth it.....

Developer comment: The Forest Spirit in a group can be quite annoying to deal with even more early in the game.

Developer comment: The effect was replaced by fear due to the sleeping effect being confused with the Angel's blinding effect.

The Doll Beneath - Sgt. Tan


With the release of The Doll Beneath right around the corner, I am very excited to finally get this thing out to the public. The Doll Beneath is will ultimately be a fun experience, and I am very curious to see what people think of it.

Also, keep in-mind, if everything goes to plan, The Doll Beneath might even release EARLIER than the intended release date. How's that for an announcement?

New Features:

-Added a new directional indicator when taking damage.

-Sharp objects should now stick into NPC’s bodies when they are impaled with them.



Bug Fixes:

-Fixed a buggy ladder in Undermined.

-Fixed a glitch that caused the use prompt to appear, allowing you to “pick up” weapons off your own back after respawning.

-Fixed over a dozen obscure areas where the player could get stuck/soft-locked.

-Fixed glitch that caused the Tier 1 card not to work on a particular door immediately after you pick it up.

-Fixed a bunch of typos.

-The prompt “Hold E to Skip” should no longer get stuck on screen after skipping through dialogue.

-Uncapped frame rate should now actually work.

-Fixed a bug that was causing a quest hint to still appear after that quest was completed.

-Fixed a glitch that caused Berserkers to deal far too much damage to the player with one sword hit.

-Fixed a bug where exiting a secret level would cause you to always respawn at the same point after loading a save.

-Fixed bug where you would sometimes not retain ammo after swapping a weapon out for another that shared that ammo type.

-Fixed messy collisions with rock walls in Bridge Too Far.

-Added option to cap frame rate at 240 fps.

-Custodian Terminals will now draw more attention to themselves during the quest.

-Lowered the health of Conflux Servators and increased their hit-boxs.

-Made a puzzle element in The Breach easier to spot.

-Adjusted the timing of an enemy spawn in Cathedral so that it felt better paced.

-Put something in a hard to reach spot in NecroPol.

-Retooled the Merc Drone to be more aggressive.

-AI will now agro on suspicious noises if already alert.

-Made an important element of progression in the level The Zone easier to spot.

-Added a missing physics volume to the water at the bottom of The Cistern.

-Reduced reflectiveness of Reflex Sights when aiming.
