It's been just over a year since Rail Route released into Early Access here on steam... and also nearly a year since this curated list started up! Not since we've started doing these highlights, of course, but it's still pretty mind-blowing to see how far the game's come in just a year's time.
With all this time behind us, why don't we take a peek back in memory lane and see some of the oldest levels in the curated list?
Bridgeport
This is the second oldest map in the list, being released all the way back in December 2020! The other, Central, has a version of it - titled "Iron falls" - in-game. Though that map does have more history to it, being in the first version of the game EVER, its inclusion in-game means it's already got its fair share of recognition.
Bridgeport is the second original map created by, well, the person writing this article. Arguably one of the most influential community members of all time, but I won't compliment myself to the point of narcissism. The reason this point is important here is because of the map's release date - December 2020. This was a period where two maps being published in a month was a miracle, and the game had only eight maps, seven of which have since been scrapped.
In the midst of all of this, one creator found their creative spark and honed it in HARD, not just figuring how to make good maps, but specifically why those maps were "good" in comparison to others. It wasn't a process that happened overnight - Rome wasn't built in a day - but this was one of the first maps that really pushed forwards the quality of levels created for this game, both officially and unofficially.
...Yes, not quite the first. Sue me! Two of the prior maps are already in-game and the third is similar to one of the other two, and this just seems more interesting.
Dunstable
When the game's steam release was approaching, we hosted a couple of external contests - One for playing levels, and one for making them. The first was a giveaway where two lucky winners got the game for free after proving their serious interest (by beating 10/10 official levels at the time), and the second was a mapmaking contest where the winners would get their maps into the game.
Dunstable actually got first place in that mapmaking contest... but it didn't get into the game. There were several metrics which these levels were judged on, and while Dunstable got the popular vote, it had plenty of flaws that limited its inclusion in-game. There was one massive thing that held it back: Its size.
For what it is, there's not much going on, yet you need to zoom in pretty far due to the map's sprawling track layout. Unfortunately, the distances between stations aren't right for autoblocks to fit in in most places, and redesigning the level to fit on one screen would have hindered the creator's original vision. Part of this contest was involving the community directly in the game in an engaging way, and by altering the level too much, we would have ruined the creator's original vision, disconnecting their involvement with the level's creation.
Don't get me wrong - the level won the popular vote, rightfully so, as it is a fun map - it just wasn't quite up to the in-game standards visually, and restoring it to that standard would have ruined the creator's connection to the map. In the end, though, you're still capable of playing it here on the workshop, uploaded by its original creator!
DHR Mini
Honestly, I'm surprised we haven't seen more maps that utilize switchbacks. Like, seriously, it's a really clever way to create conflict for a map. Kinda a shame creators haven't tried the idea out more.
This map was made by a creator who used to be prominent in the community when the game first came out. Their creations were often a bit experimental - for example, the switchbacks on this map mixed with the ridiculously slow train speeds - but often entertaining regardless. A small selection of their maps are available here on the workshop, though most of their legacy is kinda lost to the old level sharing methods.
DHR mini is a great representation of their creativity, with an entirely single-track route littered with switchbacks and weird loops, representing the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway as it climbs back and forth up the mountainsides. The limited speeds, single-cab trains, and short station platforms really help sell the region.
We've also added some new levels - yes, new, not things around a year old - to the curated list:
Smorac
Century Avenue
Blairfort & Millings
San Corbo
NEC New York Penn - AM Rush
And last month's weekly contest seeds + maps were:

A new update for General Practitioner 2 is available to download!
Meet Daniel, a patient concerned with his own health as he asks for a sport certificate of well being. Daniel will be intrigued by Dr. Andrew, and you're going to choose if you want to pursue a relationship with him, despite being a patient.
Introducing new storyline with Julie who eventually opens her pediatric clinic and starts receiving little patients to care for, the very first being Jennie, who will return to the clinic more than once for a strange illness.
In the new update for the videogame, you will be able to visit Terrie, an inmate at the local State Prison. Terrie told the judge she's unfit for prison life and asked for a full medical examination. Dr. Andrew will visit her at the local jail, with a female guard always present.
You will choose what to do with Terrie: will you ask for house arrests for her or you'll rather listen to the cop saying she's faking an illness in order to escape from jail? You will be able to continue Terrie's story throughout the game, if you wish to. This is an amazing addition to the game that will allow you to fully immerse yourself in the story.
Another story branch you will be able to play is Nyarai's. If you hired her as a Nurse, you will meet her in the relax room and start to know her better. Her story will unfold differently with Andrew and Julie, so be sure to choose the character you wish her to befriend the most.
Thank you for your support on this game!

Here is our selection of the week! It's a map of a Dog created by @Grobi. The map is available on World of Mines Creator's Edition Workshop. Thank you @Grobi for creating a cool map!
Our next map of the week will be featured July 4th!
It's the day you have all been waiting for! Time to grab your swords and staves and take on the Lord of Chaos himself in the Legacy of Zamorak!
Are you ready to fight a God? Zamorak is lurking behind a protective shield in the Wilderness, trying to establish his own corrupted Edicts, and you need to stop him! Fight through the Zamorakian Undercity, use the portal to reach him and finish this - once and for all.
This is an experience built for anybody, from Story Mode with 90% damage reduction and safe deaths all the way up to near-unlimited Enrage Mode! Head in solo or as one of up to five players - the experience will scale with you and your team.
For the first time, you can also earn some of the new rewards in Story Mode. Naturally, the rewards will be much less likely to drop and there will be significantly less loot overall, but this is a great way to build your experience and gain some cool stuff.
For the experienced boss-bashers, meanwhile, Normal Mode is the base experience of the fight - but if you really want a challenge, scaling Enrage (including in the new Elite Dungeon) is going to push you further than ever before!
You could earn rewards like the powerful T95 'Bow Of The Last Guardian', a glass cannon melee armour set 'The Vestments of Havoc', Slivers to enhance existing gear and much more!
To get started, enter Senntisten and take the crane lift down to the Zamorakian Undercity Elite Dungeon.
For the details on all possible rewards, head here.
To celebrate the launch of Zamorak: Lord of Chaos, we're making all deaths free for the next week across the game!
Free Deaths means absolutely no penalty when you die - you'll only be losing anything you consumed in the fight itself. If you've never bossed before, this is the perfect way to try it out.
Of course, the mighty Zamorak may still seem a little overwhelming, so why not try the Arch-Glacor in the Elder God Wars Dungeon to learn some bossing basics, mechanic by mechanic?
Free Deaths end on July 11th (remember, Zamorak's Story Mode always has free deaths. Just sayin’).
With the release of any major boss, it's always fun to see the best of the best battle it out for that all important first kill!
Zamorak's near-unlimited enrage system means this battle will be fought for many months - if not years - to come, as all you PvM maestros compete to be top of the leaderboard. But that first clear? That's the prize we all want.
Today, we're shining the spotlight on the biggest day one achievements with a special stream. We'll be watching for the World's First 100% Enrage across all team sizes and beyond!
Join us on Twitch.TV alongside the update launch and throughout the day as we commentate streamed attempts live, with special guest The RS Guy!
The Lord of Chaos Update also includes a brand new miniquest, continuing the story of Twilight of the Gods!
The Zamorak Boss Battle is included within the quest itself, and completion will require a single clear of Zamorak on any difficulty (which includes the easy-peasy Story Mode).
Start your adventure by talking to Adrasteia on the first floor of Falador Castle. It’s recommended you start the quest before facing Zamorak.

The Scoring Phase of the CBL 2022 Summer Tourney's Asia Division has concluded. Thank you for supporting CBL! Considering that squads may need to reorganize their roster, the top 16 squads who are entering the Knockout Stage will be able to make amendments to their rosters between July 9, 9:00 (UTC+8) and July 12, 23:00 (UTC+8). Rosters are finalized as they stand on July 12, 23:00 (UTC+8).
The steps to reorganize your roster are the same as when you registered your squad.
Whether a squad is a house squad is based on their roster during the Scoring Phase, and reorganizing the roster for the Knockout Stage will not affect this.
Scoring Phase rewards will be issued based on the roster after registration; the Top 16 rewards will be issued based on the roster used for this part of the tournament.
Notes:
Members of squads that were eliminated in the Scoring Phase can be added to new rosters.
The matchups for the first round of the Top 16 are as follows:
No. 1 of group X will go against No. 4 of group Y.
No. 2 of group X will go against No. 3 of group Y.
No. 3 of group X will go against No. 2 of group Y.
No. 4 of group X will go against No. 1 of group Y.
Groups will be decided by the draw on July 10, 17:30 (UTC+8).

The Forcefield partially blocks received damage, but the defense it provides decreases as the robot takes damage.
Skyward The robot takes off and activates energy weapons that deal damage to several enemies in front of it. The built-in guns deal increased damage against Titans.
Forcefield For the duration of the ability, the robot has protection which partially blocks received damage, the defense level decreases as the incoming damage is blocked.

Jill Summers: After the flight, Seraph repairs some of its durability
At first glance, Jill seems to be made of rock. This strong-willed woman has always strived to be the best, and the military academy and family traditions showed her the way how to do it. She tried to be the winner at everything, working towards her great goal step by step. Her great passion was to become the sword and shield of SpaceTech when her moment came. To be the perfect weapon to serve and defend.
NEW FEATURE: LEADERBOARDS
Leaderboards are competitions in which prizes are awarded for completing certain tasks. When you complete Leaderboard tasks, you get points. Upon reaching a certain number of points, you will receive Milestone Rewards. The players who took the first places will receive valuable rewards.
