Zen World - cartboardgames

A new game mode called Adventure will make its debut in about a week! It is a rogue-lite-esque series of levels where one mistake may mean that everything is lost, but on the other hand you can save your best placeable tools until the hardest levels.

Testing this week
It is not yet completely ready but we want to let you play it early, and help us find bugs and balance the new mode at the same time. You can access it on a "testing" branch of Zen World found in a betas menu (right click the game title in your Steam library and go to "properties" to find it) right now!

Any feedback on the new mode is highly appreciated, but keep in mind that it has quite a few bugs right now and not everything is implemented correctly.

New Daily Season
On the same day as the new mode goes live, on June 28, a new season of Daily Challenges will begin!

All Daily Challenge Champions points will be reset, and champions at the top of the leaderboard will receive a permanent medal, forever displaying their achievements during the last three months.

The new season will last for 1-2 months, after which the process will repeat - new champions will receive their medals and Champion points will reset again.

Limited Daily attempts
Also, the next season we are going to try limiting Daily Challenge attempts. It will most probably be 2 attempts per day, but let us know in the comments if you have a strong opinion of what it should be instead, there's still time to change plans.

ATTENTION
Attention Republic soldiers,
In this first Incursion Dev Report, I'd like to share some short-term & long-term plans for the game, as well as outline some of the known issues.

LAUNCH
The game launch so far has been a mixed bag but overall positive. By far the biggest feedback I've received so far has been that the game needs more content. This is definitely the best kind of feedback I could expect as it means that people like what's there, that it's a solid foundation, that it's fun, it just needs more stuff. This is great to hear, and it was great that with all the new people playing the game, no major game-breaking bugs have been found. There have been some refunds, which seem to have issues with the game crashing / not starting. Unfortunately, no one suffering from these two problems has joined the Discord or anything so that I might diagnose and fix them. So if you are suffering from the game crashing on startup, please don't hesitate to get in the Discord so that you might help me fix it!

The game itself feedback I'd consider positive since the main feedback is adding content, which I can do over the course of time. The reason the launch is a mixed bag is that, although people find the game fun, it seems the total playtime isn't that high which would indicate that there's not as much replayability as I'd like. The sale numbers have also fallen short of my expectations, which I think mainly is due to a lack of marketing as well as not having the Steam page up to gather wishlists long enough. This is my first time releasing a paid game and I'm a little too used to the "free players" that comes with free-to-play releases which get tons of players just from the new list on Steam's exposure. So now that you know all that, lets talk about moving forward.

Moving forward
I'd like to lean more heavily on studying & references moving forward. Really take notes and pay attention to how other games have their menus setup, how they encourage long-term progression, replayability, etc.

I also have some big decisions to make in terms of the graphics. I'm looking into doing a massive graphics overhaul, but the current system was heavily influenced by focusing on optimization & supporting low-end PC's as that was a lot of the audience who came to this game from my previous game. But it might just be the case that going after higher-fidelity is necessary, I haven't quite decided yet.

So overall, moving forward, I'm going to be working on adding content, particularly looking into how to achieve greater replayability, and if I think it'd be the right decision, moving toward higher-fidelity graphics. It's a big challenge ahead, but over time I'm hopeful we can get there.

GAME BANS

Due to a small number of players cheating, a ban system has been added.

For Steam, the Valve Anti-Cheat system (VAC) is now enabled.

Examples of cheating include:
  • Manipulating saved games, souls, character levels, and memory values using an external application.

  • Submitting illegitimate leaderboard scores.
If your account receives a ban:
  • Information will be listed in your Account tab.

  • Your game will no longer submit scores to the leaderboards, and existing scores will be removed.

  • You will not be able to play online.


FIXES & IMPROVEMENTS

Doors:
  • You must now be facing a door to open the door.
Online Co-op:
  • Added handling for unknown message IDs.

  • Improved handling for invalid object data.

  • Improved handling for malformed JSON strings.
Treasure Chests:
  • Fixed particle streaking issues during loading, especially for Elite Chests.
Logging:
  • Fixed a crash that could happen if "Verbose Stats & Achievements" was enabled.
POLYGON - NODARYN
Hey friends,

At the beginning of May, we showed you new models of sights that will be added in the next update. Since then, we have worked hard to make the game better.
Initially, we did not plan to make this update so large, but it turned out that way.
Today we will tell you about these changes that are waiting for you in the global update - 0.6

Let's start with the main thing - the Loadout system in battle.
Now you will be able to change weapons, as well as configure modules directly in the game session. You no longer need to leave the server and go to the main menu to change your loadout.
You can just choose another weapon before deployment.



We have made 2 different interfaces for loadout: Compact and Full.
In the compact, you can quickly select any weapon from the inventory.
In this mode, you can also view the connected modules to the selected weapon.
Thus, it allows you to change the current weapon to another, so you can quickly change your playstyle. For example, you are using M16A4 and decide you want to start using a sniper, just select the M24. The attachments you had used last on the gun will automatically be equiped.


In full mode, you will get full customization of weapons and, in the future, your character.
At the moment, here you can choose another weapon and install any of the modules you have on the weapon.
This viewing mode will be improved in the future.


In the last major update, some weapon models were updated.
In update 0.6, we updated the rest of the weapon models. Now every weapon in the game has an improved model.
We will show you some of the new models now, and the rest at the release of the update.

Let's start with Glock. Last time we showed you the updated Glock 17 model.



But we have improved the model even more. So, look at the final result.



Colt 1911. This is the very first gun that every new player gets. And of course we had to improve it, because the first impressions of the game matter greatly.



AK74M. This versatile rifle has long required an upgrade to the model, finally we can show you an improved version of this weapon:



And the last updated model that we will show today is the Mk14 (formerly the M14) - everyone's favorite Marksman rifle. Just like the others, it got a greatly improved appearance:



These are not all the changes that are waiting for you in the 0.6 update

About the release date: At the moment we don't have an exact date. We have already started closed testing.
