Last Epoch - EHG_Jozef
Hello Travelers!

Today is an oddly special day for Last Epoch: World Bee Day.

On the 20th of December, 2017, the UN General Assembly officially declared May 20th “World Bee Day” in observation of the role bees play within our world’s ecosystem as a pollinator. This day of recognition aims to increase awareness of the critical part they play in everything from food production to medicine production, and to provide information to help protect these critical creatures from the decline they have been facing.

While this is an important topic in general, you may feel it’s odd for a game company such as ourselves to be talking about and promoting it. However, those who have been with us for a while may have recognized that bees have found a special place within our hearts, game, and community. As such, today is a day of celebration.

To our Community
Eleventh Hour Games started its days as a single post on reddit, asking “Who wants to make an ARPG?”. This thread brought together a number of hardcore fans , who then got together after work to produce a demo late into the night (part of the reason for “Eleventh Hour” Games). With this Demo, they went to Kickstarter to try to get funding to make the ARPG they wanted. From this Kickstarter, EHG has continued to expand, to date releasing 18 major patches, and numerous smaller patches, with a vision for a long continued life cycle for Last Epoch.

All of this is thanks to our community. From those that directly backed the game, to build guide creators, content creators doing showcases, and members of the community simply having conversations in chat, on discord, and on the forums all help to build the community to what it is.

As the original founding of EHG started with hardcore members of the ARPG fan community, we intend to always keep that close to our hearts as we continue to create the game we’ve always dreamt about building. We strive to be open and communicative with our community, to listen to our community’s feedback and incorporate it, and make sure we prioritize our community; as we are all members of that self-same community. Many of our expanded team members even started out as dedicated members of the Last Epoch community specifically, including myself. So to all of you: Thank you for all of your support up to today, and we hope to continue our great relationship and community as we keep going into the future of Last Epoch (or any other timelines that it may take).

Bees?
Now, this post may raise the question of “why bees?”. Well… we honestly don’t know. We know where it started. Early on in Last Epoch we released Keeper’s Gloves and Keeper’s Idols. These were the first (and to date only) methods of generating bees as minions within Last Epoch. However, there was a couple of bugs with these bugs, which allowed significant quantities of bees to be summoned. This was corrected in subsequent smaller patches, but the legend of the bees carried on.

Though we’re not quite sure why it grew into what it is today, I know I for one fully embrace our new bee overlords. The community attachment to bees is certainly something we intend to support so long as the community desires it. On that note: We have a couple of items we’d like to share today.

We’ve had two of our backers recently finish working on their Unique Designs with our production team. These Uniques are both aimed at increasing the diversity and availability of bee related builds, and have some really exciting opportunities.

Bloodkeeper’s Nest
The first Creator Unique we’d like to show is the new “Bloodkeeper’s Nest” created with Hunter. This unique Primalist relic focuses on directly buffing bees to use them as a primary source of damage combined alongside other Spriggan Form abilities - primarily Thorn Shield.

Hive Mind
The second Creator Unique we’d like to show is the “Hive Mind” created with K1ngisback. This unique Rogue helm focuses on hybridizing the rogue’s specialty with throwing skills, poison damage, and adding more bees to the build, allowing either a focus on minions, or using the bees as support. With this unique, you’ll also convert your Decoys into Beecoys, causing them to generate a swarm of bees when they detonate, keeping the swarm strong.

Make sure to hold onto those Keeper’s Gloves, and Keeper’s Idols, because both of these new Uniques will be released with the next major update! I know I’m very excited to have more bee swarm viability. If you’re interested in World Bee Day initiatives, you can find more information here: https://www.un.org/en/observances/bee-day and https://www.worldbeeday.org.

As with every Friday, we’ll be hosting our dev stream Today (Friday the 20th) at 3:00PM CDT. Mike might have also something special prepared for this stream as well for this day. So if you’re interested in asking any questions about the game, watching a developer play the game, or just hang out with some of the developers, make sure to swing by for the stream!

Thank you once again, to all of our amazing community members, and may the bees be with you!

Ready or Not - Kaminsky
Welcome to the first in our series of monthly newsletters, dedicated entirely to community creations and contributions to Ready or Not! This month, we’re focusing on popular, well made, and unique mods to take your gameplay to the next level. Let us know if you’ve already experienced one of these in the comments!

Community Spotlight – Mods of the Month

1.) In-Game Menu by TheRareKiwi

For many players this will be one of the first mods they download, and often the first they are recommended. The simply named ‘In-game menu’ offers users more granular control over their lobbies in both single and multiplayer. The mods feature set includes a proto-server browser, user limit changes, a map selector, and even a simple mod management and identification interface, to see what mods you have loaded at any given time.

2.) The Fairfax Residence Remake by bmatthew9342

The Fairfax Residence is a map that features many veterans of the Tactical Police Action genre. It’s a faithful remake of the old SWAT 4 map, and faithfully maintains both game’s high level of environmental storytelling. Most present is the slow feeling of dread from the compact map, the well decorated environment, and its sparse use of NPCs.

3.) Old Wenderly Psych Hospital by WasabiParty

Old Wenderly’s claustrophobic corridors, and high density of both civilians and suspects, lend themselves very well to the short, furious firefights that test all players' target acquisition and identification skills. The only downside to the map is the lack of decoration, but given the map's size combined with how hectic the action tends to be, it’s very easy to overlook its missing flair.

Editors Choice

4.) ODST RONMOD by Sierra107

I really think the name of this mod speaks for itself! Though given the in-universe talents of the ODSTs and the incongruity of placing them in a reasonably modern space, it doesn’t mean that Absiv didn’t hit it out of the park with a modern version of the ODST battle suit and aesthetic. The cherry on top of this mod, is that HoltDT also contributes voices that sound like they’ve been passed between helmet comms, as well as two weapons provided by Unselles! The headliner is the venerable M90 pump shotgun, whose sheer imposing presence makes it an absolute joy to use. The other is the MK50 Sidekick from Halo Infinite, whose replacement of the USP is quite a fitting choice.

All round it’s a wonderful package, with more tweaks and firearms on the way!

Addendum
I have miscredited several creators in the above post, this has been fixed:

Both Unselles and HoltDT have authorised ODSTRoNMOD to utilise two mods separately uploaded on Nexusmods - these mods are;
*.357 Bonanza, M90, and MK50 by Unselles
*Trauma Team style voices for SWAT by HoltDT
*ODST Armor designed by https://www.artstation.com/abisv

Closing

Going forwards, we can’t WAIT to see what else the community brings to the table as we update the game and to give modders more functionality to play with and improve their own works.

Interstellar Space: Genesis - Adam Solo
A small update to the 1.4 Beta is now available in the 'unstable' branch. This is version 1.4 Beta 4.

These were the changes:

Version 1.4 Beta 4
  • Captured ships were still being reported wrongly in some specific instances. This should be fixed now.
  • The birds in the Human colony view are now a bit smaller, the ones on the top left that sometimes appear behind the UI.
I remind that the 1.4 Beta update is not yet available for everyone. To play the '1.4 Beta 4' version you need to opt in for Steam's Beta branch. On the Steam client go to Games -> View Games Library -> Right-Click on Interstellar Space: Genesis -> Choose Betas tab -> Select the "unstable" Beta branch. The game shall start updating to 1.4 Beta 4.

Team's Thoughts
While the bazaar marked the beggining of the transition of the game from roguelike to roguelite, we noticed that we had two conflicting ideas about how to handle out-of-game progression: Unlocks and Bazaar. Our current plans are to unify them. To achieve this goal, unlocks were temporarily removed so they can be reintroduced later as bounties, generating fruit instead of simply giving you a mutation. We also want to keep exacly 100 mutations in the game as it starts out, so we moved a few mutations from the starting pool to the bazaar.

Additions
    Bazaar Mutations
    • You can now unlock new mutations in the bazaar.
    New mutations
      Seasonal Fires
      • Allows you to set your tree on fire once per year.
      • Fire no longer destroys stem tiles, instead, it increases their cold resistance
      Energy Interests
      • Every turn, you gain 1% of your current energy as energy
      • Triggers after the turn happens
      Fashion Coat
      • All stem tiles gain 0.1 cold resistance for every 100 flowers spent after getting this mutation
      Cold Storage
      • Increases stem capacity by their cold resistance
      Energetic Aquifers
      • Aquifers also generate energy
      Deja vu
      • Consumable
      • Go one season back in time
      Time Loop
      • 50% chance of triggering every on-turn mutation every turn
      • Can trigger itself
      Energetic Bloom
      • +10% energy generation
      • You can click this mutation, spending flowers and buffing its value
      Summer Sale
      • Shop prices are halved during the summer
      Energy Credit
      • You can click this mutation to fill your capacity with energy
      • It takes every new energy you generate, you can use it again as soon as you pay it back
    New Elixir
      Elixir of Genetic Variety
      • For the duration of the run, all random mutations from the shop are free
      • Winner of the discord poll

Fixes
  • Shop mutations no longer go away after purchasing the first one
  • Configs are now saved properly
  • All buttons on the menu should properly show up
Daydream: Forgotten Sorrow - bitchcoin
Every story has a beginning…

The story of these two began deep in Griffin's childhood, long before the events in Daydream: Forgotten Sorrow…

Griffin was born in a family of a brutal man, who was engaged in not exactly legal affairs, more specifically, he hunted rare species of animals, and a housewife.

Mom and Dad were always busy, Griffin was mostly taken care of by nannies and teachers, Griffin was home-schooled and did not go to school, as his parents believed that modern society could only harm the growing up boy. This led to the fact that Griffin was unable to make friends.
And though he was constantly surrounded by attention and care, he always felt isolated...

Griffin's only friend was his teddy bear, Birly. It had, in Griffin's opinion, the most valuable quality - he was a good listener. And Griffin always found a glimmer of sympathy and compassion in the teddy bear's black eyes made of glass.

The boy had other toys: a toy train that rode the railroad across the mansion, a wigwam where Griffin could hide from his father when he was in a rage over a failed bargain, a miniature knight... It stood outside the wigwam as if guarding it, and never left his watch.
Griffin`s mother was unable to protect the boy in moments of father`s rage: she was completely dependent on him and it made her feel absolutely powerless… Meanwhile a statue of a knight standing in dad's cabinet always scared Griffin.

Like any other child, our little Griffin had his fears. He was afraid of an angry father, of the spiders he would occasionally find under the ceiling of their huge house, afraid of being home all alone and of the vault standing in his dad`s cabinet, because Griffin has always been wondering what is there inside of it… His father would never reply to this question and this mystery made the boy fearful.

But remarkably, Griffin was never afraid of the dark. It always intrigued him, as if inviting him to see what it held.

Griffin began to spend a great deal of time in the dark in search of solitude and answers to his seemingly childish and naive questions, and one day Griffin went too far in his search...
And eventually he woke up in a Daydream.

And, what a surprise! Teddy bear Birly comes to life and becomes Griffin's teammate and partner on this amazing and dangerous journey.

Will they make it out alive? Will Griffin find the answers to his questions?
We'll find out together…
