We're ecstatic to announce that the full game is now released!
That being said, this is not the last you'll hear from the Ornbjorn team. We already have some updates in the works, so make sure to keep an eye on the announcements if that sounds interesting to you.
As this year’s Capsuleer Day event comes to a close, you’ll soon be able to wrap up the party in explosive style with an exciting new Proving Grounds!
With 19 years of EVE’s space saga under our belts, the next FFA Proving Grounds features a very fitting set of special conditions:
19% increase to turret and missile damage
19% increase to ship velocity
19% increase to sensor strength
19% reduction in ship signature radius
The ship of choice this time? The Sunesis, making this one party where everyone’s invited! The Meta Level requirement is 0, but the usual restrictions apply. When planning your fits, keep in mind that the following modules are banned:
Sensor dampeners
Weapon disruptors
Shield boost amplifiers
Shield rechargers
Shield power relays
Shield flux coils
Core defense field purgers
To liven up the party further, the arena itself will also add some explosive new features. Expect a number of Nexus objects scattered throughout the combat area. Approach them and you’ll gain a 19% buff - or debuff - to your weapons and mobility.
This second of two special Capsuleer Day APGs will run from 20-23 May. Start optimizing your fits for a suitable send-off to this year’s celebrations!
In our last character spotlight we took a look at the skills and abilities of David Douglas, but in case you missed it, here’s a quick recap on the story so far in Curse of the Sea Rats!
The year is 1777, and you are imprisoned aboard the HMS Barfleur on its journey back from America to England where you will face trial. In the ship’s brig is a vicious crew of pirates and their notorious Captain, Flora Burn, who rumour has it, possesses a mysterious magical talisman. One stormy night, Flora seizes the chance to escape by casting a powerful spell which transforms everyone on board into rats! She frees the rest of her crew and kidnaps the Admiral's son in the process.
Having run aground along the rugged Irish Coast, the Barfleur’s crew and remaining prisoners make their way to shore. Here the Admiral begs you to bring back his son in exchange for a full pardon.
Accompanying David Douglas in his mission is the fierce Cheyenne hunter, Buffalo Calf, who was captured and thrown into chains for sneaking into a British encampment and releasing the horses while the soldiers slept.
Flying Daggers
Buffalo Calf’s weapon of choice is the humble dagger, of which she owns many! At close range Buffalo Calf is a lightning fast combatant, wielding two daggers with great speed and proficiency. To compensate for her lack of reach at mid-range, she also possesses the unique ability to be able to throw her weapons!
Whether crouching low to the ground or jumping in the air, Buffalo Calf can utilise her daggers to perform ranged attacks. From a crouched position she can project a blade in a straight line forwards, catching enemies that lie within its path. Attacking while jumping will allow her to launch three small daggers in a downward arc, covering a large area in a deft fanning motion. These airborne daggers can be fired upwards, downwards, or straight ahead using the directional buttons/keys.
Unleash the Thunderbird
Progressing through Buffalo Calf's skill tree will unlock a variety of long-range attacks. One of her very first abilities, Knife Throw, sends two magical knives dead ahead to deal some serious magical damage! This skill can be buffed with Lightning Knives, adding bonus shock damage to enemies for 5 seconds.
If that wasn't enough, Buffalo Calf can also launch Piercing Storm, raining a shower of deadly knives down from above.
With enough spiritual energy she will eventually be able to swap her knives out for much stronger and deadlier Tomahawks and call upon the mighty Thunderbird to jump in any direction and deal magical damage to all enemies in her way.
Keep an eye for our next post where we’ll be shining the spotlight on the musclebound brawler from Barbados, Bussa!

First of all, we wanted to thank you for the support and the love you've sent us since the release of the Early Access. It's a huge step for us after over 3 years of work on the game and we're so happy to see how many players enjoy playing Astral Ascent. 🌟
We have received some feedbacks about crashes and bugs related to performance issues. We are really sorry about that, we know that's is a major problem right now and we are working hard to fix this: for the next major update, the game will be ported with a new game exporter, much more optimized than the one we're using today. This change should solve most of the issues encountered and the game should run way smoother across the board.
While waiting for this update, we suggest you to take a look at our common issues guide. You'll find some temporary solutions to avoid crashes. This guide is updated each time a new solution is discovered. For example, recently, some players noticed a major performance boost by installing the game on a SSD. It turns out it helps a lot of players who had performance issues. So feel free to add a comment if it doesn't work or if you find a new solution.
If you encounter any more issues, you can join our Discord server and send a message in the #bug-report channel or in the thread of the common issues guide.
In the meantime, we are working on a small update that should come in the next few weeks. Some minor changes will be made there and you'll be able to play Astral Ascent in Japanese!
Thank you for everything and have a wonderful day, - The Hibernian Workshop Team ✨
We have some tiny, but really important update. But first, we'd like to ask you a question: what Tiny Island and Michelangelo have in common?
