Hello everyone!

The summer approaches and so does our next update – stay tuned for various quality of life improvements to coincide roughly with our 3rd Steam anniversary. Before that, though, we’ve one more thing to release in connection with the previous update: the official modding documentation.

Along with the modding refactor included in the Urban Expanses update, we promised more comprehensive documentation about modding Barotrauma. This documentation is released only in English to keep our workload manageable, and it is semi-automatically generated and in places quite technical. Even then, we’re hopeful many of you, particularly the more ambitious modders, will find it helpful.

In addition to the more finicky details, the new documentation includes the pre-existing Character Editor and Submarine Editor guides, and the latter has also been updated and expanded a little bit. In other words, all our official modding guides will now be found in one place: here on GitHub.

Without further ado, take a look and let us know what you think should be added. The guide continues to be a work in progress and we’ll be happy to improve it further!
Dead Event - SourJ


Greetings Creatures,
In this update Dead Event really got straightened out it's not perfect but it's getting there one miracle at a time. Big shoutout to Chaotic-Reaper_ from the community for finding a issue that was unknown and severe with the server. So turns out when I upgraded the server through the server hosting company to give us more memory, something happened when they migrated the data and all of the files and data got corrupted and the server wouldn't start, it was just ruined beyond fixing. I stayed up for almost 2 days straight trying to not wipe and fix it. But no luck even a few server engineers couldn't make it work again. It is what it is... but we did plan on a wipe eventually anyways. So while it's still early access I decided to do the wipe now considering it's nowhere close to release. But don't worry, with this event ALL previous events activated by Alkazair so you will be able to get all that exclusive event loot +200% Growth Experience Bonus. With the new recent changes to max level from 1000 to 32000 AND your Heirlooms from buying the game in early access, leveling to level 1000 is faster than ever! So take advantage while you can! Event ends 7/11/2022. This was a good time to wipe because I switched hosting providers to provide a clean start and we will be gaining lots of new players during the event. There will be no wipe before full release everything will carry over at that time. I want this to be our last wipe ever. I plan on adding over 100+ playable creatures, more dungeons, colony wars, ranking system and new maps and more to make the game better. Event Details:
Event named after one of our community members Alkazair for coming up with this event idea. Thank you so much for supporting the game and creating an item. (You can create your own item by supporting the game on Patreon)
The all powerful Alkazair arrived on the planet, carrying the crystalized flame. Alkazair's Crystalized Flame is so strong it opened portals to the past and let all the past events back into the world.
All previous events activated by Alkazair. Partake in exclusive loot, quests, cosmetics and +200% experience bonus and Alkazair's Crystalized Flame super rare item drop chances are increased from 1% to 5% from boss monsters and regular dungeon monsters.


Alkazair's Crystalized Flame Item gives great stats and a cosmetic aura:



Update Notes:
  1. Placed a cooldown on creature creation to reduce data usage - make a creature - play for a little bit - you'll be able to make another creature by exiting back to the creation. If it wont let you make a character just play a existing creature and go back into the menu and try again or exit the game and retry. I might change this later its a beta test.
  2. Reworked the sky to be better.
  3. Reworked the lighting to be not so dark.
  4. Reworked the fog to not be so foggy.
  5. Changed training dummy's in town from giving 1 to 25 experience per damage (less effective than normal damage).
  6. Changed the day and night cycle from 30 mins to 60 mins for a full day.
  7. Fixed a bug with the sky flickering when day changes to night.
  8. Buffed all dungeon monsters and the boss significantly.
  9. Reworked hitbox for Crystal Sorceress dungeon monster.
  10. Reduced the damage of Haalk skill "Slam".
  11. Smashed a bug that was not applying Haalk armor from it's passive skill.
  12. Smashed a bug with Koh dungeon weapon.
  13. Smashed a bug with Fungus dungeon weapon.
  14. Smashed a bug that made player storage not the right amount of slots.
  15. Made it so the dungeon monsters don't respawn until you restart the dungeon.
  16. Optimized the dungeon better removed a lot of unnecessary stuff.
  17. Fixed the dungeon warps to the correct destination.
  18. Went thru old configuration from when I first started game development years ago and updated everything.

LEAP has been a true passion project three years in the making. Over that time, the game has gone through many iterations and we are finally ready to open things up to a wider audience.

While the game has been in development for a while, we know that the journey is only just beginning! We have tons of additional content planned and in the works and we look forward to sharing an Early Access roadmap soon.

LEAP Beta Test Coming May 20 - 22!

You heard it here folks, we’re running one more beta test right before the EA launch happens, and a huge thank you to our friends at Gportal for hosting this beta! So get those grappling hooks out, and your PV’s all charged up because it’s time to strap in and LEAP into LEAP’s beta!



How Do I Participate in the Beta?

If you’ve participated in our last playtest (May 6-7) you’re already good to go for the beta. Anyone who does not have the ‘LEAP Playtest’ client in their Steam Library will need to request access on our Steam page. Check the image below.



How Long is the Beta Open for?

LEAP’s beta will start at 1pm EST on May 20 and will end at 9pm EST on May 22.
