As of today, the Steam trading cards for "Magic Potion Millionaire" have been activated! It was a long time ago that we made them, but we are finally able to put them out there.
Those of you who've already been playing for some time will get them soon enough!
I decided to dedicate today to trying to optimize the game a little better. Optimization is a difficult and endless struggle, so it's not going to be perfect, but you should have better FPS, even if it's just a little bit.
That said, everyones PC setup is a little different, so it's my hope that nothing behaves incorrectly for anyone. Please do let me know if it feels like performance has gotten worse.
With this done, I'm going to be working towards Part 2 of the Major Update. Thank you for your patience!
Here's the changes:
Enemy pathing has been reworked for better performance. As a player, you shouldn't notice anything different.
The method used to flash the player (and enemies) when taking damage has been changed. You might notice this is less bright and visually impactful, but it was a big FPS save to do it in this new manner.
The maximum amount of allowed damage popups has been decreased from having no limit to 80. Once you start having a ton of skills firing off all over the place, this really started to eat up the resources. This number will be adjusted if it's deemed as being too low, but if you have some instances where you're hitting tons of mobs all at once and some don't have damage numbers pop up, this is why. They're still taking damage, though.
Energy Wave no longer has an afterimage effect. Due to how this sprite could get so big, this resulted in a costly performance hit whenever you had the Size Doubled Relic for this skill.
Patched a memory leak involving Lightning Strike. If it felt like your FPS was slowly getting worse and you leaned heavily into Lightning Strike, that's why.
Thanks again for your continued support, everyone. As usual, let me know if there's any bugs.
Greetings, warriors! We’ve made some optimizations and fixed a series of bugs in v.1.12.6.
OPTIMIZATIONS *You can revive once during a run by consuming Soul Stones. Unlike the mobile version, the Steam version of OWL did not offer the revival option of watching ads, and because of it, players had to spend Resurrection Cards which is a paid item in the game. To compensate for that, we’ve added this new option that allows players to trade Soul Stones for a revival chance. *Weapon Enhancers are available as rewards for reaching 80 Activity Points. *Added the volume adjustment option on the Settings panel. *Dodging animation speed is affected by the hero’s movement speed *Added a button that helps you find and receive undelivered orders. If you have paid for a product but the order is not delivered, you can request the delivery by using this button. *Optimized the issue that pressing the Back button would close the drink menu panel when a drink was being consumed.
FIXED BUGs including: *Dialogue window was repeatedly triggered if control was switched between keyboard and gamepad during the interaction with NPCs. *Some buttons didn’t function in the co-op mode. *Hayfa’s stealth mode, when canceled, conflicted with the effect of power items that grants invisibility. *Stuck in the monster duel room if Beast Tamer (a Power of Animal Realm) was activated.
We are happy to announce that Prince of Suburbia - Part 1 will be released TOMORROW at 5:00pm PDT (May 11th) for its Steam debut!
As a reminder, this will be a game with two parts. Part 1 has been planned from the beginning to be free for players. As it is in early access, we plan to polish it as time goes on to include things like polishing the GUI and making the art more consistent. We can't wait to see what you think!
