Inventory Rework and More

This week we’ve been busy in the backend, reworking the Inventory system! We’ve completely rewritten it in both the Java and C++ clients, so it’ll be better suited to all our future content.

We’ve also improved the Wiki integration feature, so it’ll now direct you to more accurate pages. In addition, we’ve removed the line-of-sight requirement, so you can now look stuff up from your Worn side panel!

Lastly, there’s a couple of Steam Client improvements we want to talk about:


Anti-Drag Options

We’ve reworked anti-drag! When active, dragging an item won’t register as a drag until the specified delay has passed, at which point the item will jump to your cursor and be dragged around as normal.

You can configure the following settings:
  • Anti-drag: toggle the feature on or off.
  • Drag delay: How long, in milliseconds, you have to drag an item when anti-drag is active before the drag is registered. By default, this is set to 500 milliseconds.
  • Enable key: If set, you must hold this key down to activate anti-drag. Options include Always On, Shift (default) and Control.
  • Disable key: When this key is held down, anti-drag will be deactivated if currently active. Options include None (default), Shift and Control.

More Examine Info

Examining an item will now give you the Grand Exchange and High and Low Alchemy values. Items which are untradeable will not show the Grand Exchange value, and items which cannot be alchemised will not show the High or Low Alchemy values.

You can adjust this feature in the settings.


The team is hard at work on future updates for the Steam client, including Clue Scrolls! We hope to have more info to share soon.

We’re aware of the following issues:
  • The UI appears too small on devices that use a 4:3 aspect ratio.
  • Collapsing the Minimap on mobile can cause the Multiway Combat Icon to disappear behind it.
  • The Gauntlet Timer displays incorrectly on the Side Panel.
  • Interfaces displayed in the top left ‘dodge’ the Side Panel when Chat is closed.
  • Using the Chatbox to DM other players or search the Grand Exchange or Bank can cause it to become unusable.
  • Some loading screen elements display incorrectly.
  • Minimap icons do not appear after going to areas which use LinkBelow.
  • There is misaligned text in a cutscene during A Tail of Two Cats.
  • Using the Entity Highlights feature causes large FPS drops in God Wars Dungeon instances.
  • Grid lines can appear in multiple places.
  • Inventory UI shifts slightly on some devices.


Deadman Finale Re-Run

Last week we mentioned the Deadman Finale Re-Run was finally ready, with the first beta going live Thursday, April 21st.

Unfortunately, we are having to postpone the beta once more until Friday, April 29th.

On March 30th, following our usual game update process, we quickly became aware of an issue that caused a small number of core systems that support both Old School and RuneScape to behave unexpectedly for a short period of time. These systems are the same ones we use to control our live architecture and manipulate configurations for things like Leagues, Deadman, the PvP Rota and the worlds used for our betas.

While the root cause is still being investigated, we are refraining from using these systems to avoid the issue occurring again and potentially causing further issues in-game.

We apologise for the delay and appreciate your patience as we work to ensure the issue is resolved so we can configure worlds to be used for the first Deadman Reborn Re-Run beta on the 29th.



Other Changes
  • Removed some trees between the Revenant Caves’ south entrance and exit.
  • The Book of Darkness (or) is now recognised as a Zarosian item.

Squads

  1. A squad fails to sign up according to the requirements.

Players

  3. If a player's account receives a ban during the course of the tournament, their participation qualification will be revoked. However, their squad may still continue the tournament.

Signup Requirements

  1. The squad should have between 15-20 eligible members.
  2. A squad with members that do not meet the requirements may still partake in the tournament as long as they have between 15-20 qualified members. However, the players that do not meet the requirements may not partake in the tournament.

  • Choose a squad name containing between 4-32 English characters.
  • Choose a squad abbreviation of no more than 4 English characters.
  • Names may not contain derogatory or insulting content. If so, the squad will have their participation qualification revoked.

While Phantom Treasure Coins will no longer drop after the event ends on Apr. 24, 24:00 (UTC+8),
the event menu will remain available until May 2, 0:00 (UTC+8), during which time you can hunt for treasures with Phantom Treasure Coins or Sovereigns.

3. Limited-time Warden Quests
This time around, the Warden's quests will be ending on Apr. 21, 00:00 (UTC+8).

- Added artilleries to the wall and adjusted the renewable artilleries on the 2nd floor of the monastery (next to the main city) to be unrenewable;
- Added some destroyable barriers and barricades outside Point A to the path leading to the shallow.





III. GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS

The [Poem Collection] and [Heroic Epic] items granting Glory on use can now be used at level 10.
The [Secret Vault] will now only appear in the result screen for those with a hero level of at least 25.
Added fast access to the [Activities (O)] Sign In menu. If you press on a premium reward while not having an active premium account, you will be taken to the relevant store page.

IV. BUG FIXES & IMPROVEMENTS

  • Fixed some issues with the [Banner Guards]' Plant the Banner skill description.
  • Fixed an issue where the hero would also be affected by Unwavering Heart when the [Claymores] used skills.
  • Fixed an issue where some [Golden Treasure Orders] and [Silver Treasure Orders] couldn't be right-clicked in the inventory.
  • Fixed an issue where the button when interacting with multiple units would under some circumstances remain in other menus.
  • Fixed an issue where Warlords logging off near a fief on the World Map, would under some circumstances appear in the wrong location when they logged on again.
  • Fixed an issue with cooldowns for the World and Announce chats.
  • Fixed an issue where not all units could be displayed in the results menu when using more than 5 units.

V. EARLY-GAME IMPROVEMENTS

We have made a series of changes to [Hero's Path] and adjusted the [levels at which some features become available] to improve the early-game experience.
[Hero's Path]
  1. Added more chapter content to Hero's Path.
  2. Improved the rewards available in Hero's Path.
  3. Added a [Go To] button to Hero's Path quests. Click this button to access the relevant menu or start pathfinding for that NPC.




Those who have previously activated Hero's Path will be able to fully experience all its content again and receive rewards for doing so after the maintenance.

*Please notice that you have to claim those rewards for completed quests before the adjustment, or you’ll be unable to claim them again.

  • Added project template section to the Game Manager with options for blank project, bare bones project, default example game, and a new example game based on Kenney's 1-Bit assets
  • Added new models to the Asset Library that are based on Kenney's 1-Bit assets and are used by the new example game (21 tiles, 19 objects, and 3 characters)
  • Added "Fixed Vertical Axis" setting for billboard sprites to the Model Tools panel that keeps the sprite vertically upright regardless of camera angle (best suited for first-person)
  • Added "Controls" tab to the Gameplay section of the Game Configuration dialog for specifying which control types (mouse/keyboard/controller) are enabled for movement and interaction

  • Fixed issue with grouping in the Voxel Editor where groups were being created for all frames of a model instead of only the current frame in some cases
  • Fixed "invalid get index" error that would display in the console when using the "Set Entity Model" function to change an object's model

Here are the latest update details for Black Desert Online on April 20, 2022 (Wed).

Items

As Black Desert has been on our adventure together with our Adventurers for a long time, there has been numerous items added into the world of Black Desert through the weekly updates. Therefore, this made it difficult for new Adventurers that are starting out to figure out what the items were for and whether or not they should it them or use them. So, we will strive to improve the item descriptions so that it is easier for new Adventurers to decide if they want to keep, collect, or use them.
● Improved the item descriptions of 316 items. It will clearly state how they can be obtained and what they are used for.
- More items have their descriptions improved in future updates.

Before

Black Stones, Memory Fragments, Hunter's Seals, Gold Bars, Node/Conquest War items, and many more items would naturally pile up in our Adventurer's Inventory and take up a significant amount of weight. However, this will be changed as 344 items had their weight reduced. We hope this will help our Adventurers take off on their adventures, lighter than before.

● Decreased the weights of Gold Bars, Seals, Black Stones, and other stackable items (a total of 344 items).


Quest & Knowledge

We increased the contribution EXP rewards for the regular quests in Balenos and Serendia. The regular quests are optional in the world of Black Desert, however, we felt that new Adventurers starting out and taking the time to explore the world should have enough points to rent storage and activate production nodes.

As announced during CalpheON Episode 2, the processing stones were combined. We searched for a way to combine these stones together as many of our Adventurers have requested this change. Now, Adventurers will be able to mass process a variety of items with a single processing stone. We are also currently working hard on developing the Life Inventory and Lightstone Inventory.
● Combined processing stones that were differentiated by types.
- As the processing stones were combined, Shaking, Grinding, Chopping, Drying, Filtering, and Heating can be mass processed with one processing stone.


● Due to the consolidation of these items, the pre-existing processing stones will no longer be sold by the vendors. Instead, you will be able to purchase the new Loggia Processing Stone and Techthon Processing Stone from the same NPC vendors you purchased the pre-existing processing stones from.

The pre-existing processing stones in your possession have all been replaced with "Sealed" processing stones. If you would like to use the processing stone as an item, then you can equip it after using it with Simple Alchemy (L).
Otherwise, you can sell all the extra processing stones for Silver to NPC vendors at the highest price that they were being sold at on the Central Market across the world.
● The following changes were made to your pre-existing Manos, Techthon, Loggia Processing Stones you have in your possession:
- All of your Processing Stones were removed from your possession and Sealed Processing Stones with the same enhancement level were sent to your Mailbox. (e.g.: +13 Manos Processing Stone - Lake → Sealed +13 Manos Processing Stone)
- Sealed Processing Stones cannot be equipped. You can either sell them to vendors for silver or use Simple Alchemy (L) to make them into processing stones that can be equipped.

- Improved to display the skills that are not yet learned by the mount.
- Improved to display which courser skills the mount has learned or has yet to learn when mousing over the horse icon.
