Greetings Everyone,
We would like to thank you very much for all the feedback so far, both positive and negative. The development team has been hard at work, and we initially had a re-balancing patch scheduled to be published today, that would alleviate many of the issues most frequently mentioned here in reviews, discussions and on Discord.

Unfortunately, at the very last minute of testing, we uncovered some very unpleasant technical issues and at this moment, we have a more balanced, but less stable build. And since the lead developer was struck with Covid this week and is unable to work, it was not possible to fix the problems in time. Rest assured that as soon as humanly possible, we will release a patch bringing (at least) the following fixes and improvements:

Balancing
  • Abyssal Hunter, Mutant, Entity of Torment, Observer, Slither, Abomination - decreased damage dealt.
  • Observer and Ygolak - decreased maximum health.
  • Increased amount of Rocket pickups in early to mid-game levels.
  • Increased amount of all pickups in mid to late game levels.
Levels
  • Treatment Plant - fixed invisible enemies.
  • Improved Ship, Crystal Cave and Mines levels in terms of enemy variety.
  • Cult Hideout - pressure plate runes now only light up when pressed.
Weapons
  • New designs for some weapons.
  • All explosive weapons - increased blast radius.
  • Shotguns - rebalanced audio levels.
  • Rusty Vito and upgrade - increased damage per bullet.
  • Melee weapons - made knife hitboxes more forgiving.
  • Noller - increased damage per bullet.
  • Des Goules and upgrades - increased ammo consumption.
Enemy Tweaks and Fixes
  • Boss 2 - death barrier reverses directions less frequently in the second phase.
  • Boss 2 - death barrier now takes longer to change speed and direction.
  • Boss 2 - fixed idle animation not looping after shield regeneration.
  • Boss 3 - sinking islands now also shake the screen when it is sinking, and the player is still standing on it.
  • Yellow Cultist - improved homing projectile behavior.
  • Yellow Cultist - decreased homing projectiles’ lifespan.
  • Yellow Cultist - homing bullets now dissolve when the owner dies.
  • Yellow Cultist - new particle effects when homing bullets disappear.
  • Abomination - improved pathfinding.
  • Abomination - fixed idle sound playing on level load.
  • Dark Bane - killing it is no longer required to get 100% kills for level stats.
  • Entity of Torment - several bug fixes.
  • Patient - fixed idle sound playing when killing the enemy during sitting animation.
General Fixes
  • Fixed achievement Voodoo from Hell can’t be unlocked.
  • Fixed Journalist’s cigarette skill causing frame drops.
  • Fixed player camera under certain conditions staying tilted for the rest of the level.
  • Fixed Numpad movement bindings networking on some levels.
  • Energy Booster and Energy Catalyst - fixed animations breaking when using skills while shooting.
  • Fixed weapon switch sound playing at the start of the level.
  • Fixed weapon idle sounds playing when using skills.
  • Fixed audio glitches with light skills when pressing use during hiding animation.
New Features
  • Added Portuguese Brazilian localization

We are also working on improving the XP and levelling curve, re-balancing the Experience gain skills, and an ability to change some already purchased skills. This may or may not be possible in the first upcoming patch, since it requires a significant amount of testing.

Last but not least we are investigating and working on a fix for the crash issues some of you have reported.

Once again, thank you everyone who submitted any kind of feedback, we appreciate it and we pledge to continue working on the game until it is in the best shape possible and all of you can enjoy it to the fullest. We will keep you posted on further development, stay tuned!
Yuki's Tale - Male Doll
We’re so excited to reveal Yuki’s Tale visual update is now available. A LOT of improvements have been made, so watch its trailer.

  • Yuki’s concepts art has been redrawn - including the battle one;
  • Maze Blue and Might has received concept art;
  • All H-Scenes have been rewritten and redrawn;
  • More than 10 new skills have been added;
  • Battle System has been updated: now you can store 8 skills for the battle within a list of more than 20;
  • A new side quest has been added;
  • A new h-scene has been added;
  • New items have been added and they will be found only in the new area;
  • The game ending has changed so that the story ends without the possibility of a cross-over;
  • A new achievement has been added and some old ones have been updated;
  • All achievements images have been updated;
  • All monsters' sprites have been updated to our own;
  • All relevant characters have their own pixel art sprites;
  • All tilesets and sprites have been updated to our own;
  • Feedback presented on Steam reviews has been considered and some skills have been improved. For example, Meditation is now a buff that recovers part of your mana during a few turns instead of being a skill in which you spend your mana to recover part of it;
  • Some previous monsters have been rebalanced;
  • Minor bugs have been fixed;
  • The game guide has been updated;

Dome Keeper - René - Bippinbits
Hello keepers of the dome 🙂

PAX
We are entering a hot phase now in April! We'll fly over to Boston to be part of the great indie game conference PAX East https://east.paxsite.com/en-us.html
We'll show and reveal a lot of cool things then. For one, we have a shiny new trailer, that should give a good impression on how the game feels now. We will also reveal the name change, which we planned for so long. Dome Romantik was really only a pun that lived much longer than anticipated, although i appreciate that many of you actually like the name! On our booth there will be a few stations where the current version of Dome can be played, and where we'll hang around and chat. There is another big reveal about to happen there, which i won't spoil yet 😄

Demos
I can also tell we'll be part of the Steam Next Fest in Summer, in which you'll get your hands on the new demo. That demo will look and feel more like the Steam Release we are working on, and not so much like the (expanded) game jam version you've been playing as a demo so far.
With the start of PAX, we'll also finally take the current Demo offline on the 17th ofApril. Initially we announced to only keep it up 3 days, not 60. So there will be no Demo for some weeks, until the Next Fest rolls around. This is because we think some people might see the game on PAX and the new Trailer, and then might look for the Demo, which doesn't fit anymore. We'll do some playtests here and there, organized over on our Discord - come over and hang out, it's a lovely community!

the wtf part
Exactly 2 months back on the 14th of February, when we were still young and innocent, we put the Demo of Dome Romantik live on Steam. We decided that on a whim, spontaneously a few days before the Midweek Madness Event Games from Germany started. This Demo had been sitting in our hands a few months already, and we were happily working on it in our spare time - we were hobbyists back then. We had a good time and were testing the build with our small but amazing community. We expected a small bump from that event. But oh boy, we had no idea.

Fast forward to today and 75.000 people spent a combined 224.000 hours in the demo. On some days, over 5000 people played it. Our Discord exploded from 270 people to nearly 4000. So many fantastic youtube channels and twitch streamers covered Dome, that we couldn't even keep up watching it.
Sometimes we still stop, look at each other and ask ourselves: How insanely awesome is that? That our little game jam entry finds so much love with you? You wouldn't believe how much that powers us to push and push, to make a worthy game, to make this the best we can. In January we switched to working full time one Dome, and i like to think: if we could make something you liked that much in our spare time, what can we do when we can focus on it 100%, when it's not in the late hours after an exhausting day at the offices?

Anyway, i'm just feeling so thankful and happy to be able to work on this with all I got, and i know the team feels a similar sense of fullfilment.

The second half of our 2.2 patch is finally here! The update is now feature complete and will be heading to the main branch once we iron out the remaining issues.

We would like to remind you that if you have mods installed it might be best to uninstall them, since they're probably incompatible with the current version of the game. This can cause issues in-game. We suggest waiting until your mods get updated by their creators.

FEATURES
  • Shooting range added. It's a separate location that can be accessed from the Vanno base. It has multiple minigames and also you can try any weapon that is allowed on your security level for free, including upgrades and attachments. It also serves as a training facility with 2 tutorial sections unlocked with gaining Security Level.
  • New multiple hand poses for gun handling. Improves hand visuals and style depending on grip position and angle.
  • New sounds for AK74, M4, IZ81.
  • AK-like guns can have their mag ejected using another mag.
BALANCE CHANGES
  • Changed Realistic difficulty preset not to increase enemy numbers or HP.
  • Sec level 2 award is moved to a new priority mission in Bolotki Village.
  • TT bullet speed reduced to match realistic values.
  • PPSH and PPSH sawn-off have more differences in their stats. (Btw if PPSH is suddenly not shooting, it's most likely caused by not resetting the trigger all the way)
  • Changed some weapon prices.
  • Double barrel shotgun variants have more stat differences in their lineup.
BUG FIXES
  • Fixed glowing trucks. (hello darkness, my old friend...)
  • Fixed mimics not reacting properly to bullet hits.
  • Fixed lights not having shadows.
  • Fixed audio not following handheld map position when playing tapes, or Tidemeter alarm sound ringing.
  • Fixed cassettes floating after being inserted into the voice recorder.
  • Fixed Lightning anomaly doesn't play its "not triggered" state VFX and SFX.
  • Fixed Item info panel issues when a player has a cigarette in mouth.
  • Fixed enemies disappearing on player death in Ironman mode.
  • Fixed item visibility flickering.
  • Fixed delivery box indication.
  • Fixed various sounds being too loud.
  • Fixed still having yawning VFX and other rest related stuff triggering with rest removed from game.

Space Impossible - Stuffie
BETA 9 is now ready to go. This is a smaller, more technically focused update, with the main improvements being centered around ease of multiplayer sessions.

Patch Notes
Steam Networking
We have added in support for Steam Networking, a great feature Steam offers, that allows players to now host game sessions and it "just works" mentality. Port forwarding is no longer necessary when playing outside a LAN environment, so you can just fire up the game, start a multiplayer session, and have your friends join from the Steam friends list. There is also a "Join via Steam" button built directly into the game as well.

The previous networking still exists and continues to work, so joining via IP is still an option for those who choose to do so (it is still required for dedicated servers). Singleplayer sessions are entirely unaffected by these changes and will continue to work as before.

Background Improvements

Along with the addition of Steam Networking we have also added in some background visual changes that were in the works since before BETA 8, that we have finally had time to polish up. These changes affect how the background objects are calculated and displayed on screen, shifting from an "always star" focused approach to "local object" approach. It also shifts objects out of the very center of the screen, significantly improving visibility in certain situations. Finally it casts background objects in different phases of lighting, making things far more interesting than before. Also in general some tweaks to asteroid ring rendering.

There are a few general changes based on initial BETA 8 feedback as well.

Additions
  • Added Steam networking. This allows players to host games and invite friends without having to deal with things like port forwarding on the router.
  • Added "Join via Steam" button to menu

Changes
  • 📡Proximity mines and missiles will now check for faction standing before triggering. Neutral and above standing will not trigger. However, once triggered, they can damage whoever they may hit.
  • 📡AI less likely now to attempt to fly through an active beam weapon or tractor beam.
  • 📡Moved the mine field from Trader's Drift outposts to be further away than player warp in radius
  • Reduced chance of AI ships spawning in asteroid fields (from 80% to 50%)
  • Trader's Drift regions now start as "known", providing the orbit ring for easier finding.
Fixes
  • Fixed components not being loaded correctly from template if previous vessel had a mount in same location
  • Fixed an issue with disconnection messages not always being received
  • Improved handling of errant unrelated game network data being accidentally processed by the game

COMING IN BETA 10
We will be processing most of BETA 8's feedback. Questions like weapon balance, method and ease of "traveling home", and universe generation options and tweaks are some of the topics we will be addressing.

So... I made a little demo celebrating April the 14th also known as Black Day in South Korea. An unofficial holiday where people who did not receive gifts on the previous love holidays gather and eat jajangmyeon, noodles with black sauce.
