NecroBouncer - G_Gene
Creating NecroBouncer was definitely a long process. You wouldn't believe it now, but this actually started as a much simpler mobile game idea, more similar to clicker games than anything else. Luckily for the game, I was able to convince everyone at Alchemy Sheep that making this a roguelike would be so much cooler. The task was in fact pretty trivial since I am the only member of that particular studio. This of course brought with it a great undertaking of rebuilding most systems from the ground up, but in the end, it was all worth it!

Since I didn't have a super clear vision for what the game would be in its final stage, I let the development process shape the game. All of the small and big changes were made because of countless testing sessions, feedback from friends and strangers, ideas from long showers and car rides and it all just nurtured and grew the game to be the most horrifically hard experience you can imagine! But thankfully, people besides me started trying out the game as well and I started to fix that issue.


Creating the first boss

Even though the development started in 2017, the actual design of the game, as it stands today, started fleshing out in late 2019. The game got its first cover art, a bunch of in-game visuals were greatly improved and the game started to look more and more like it does today. Because of Mari, the artist of that cover art, the necromancer even got a tie around his neck and the dungeon club was joined by his faithful NecroCat.

There were a lot of challenges for a solo indie developer, but slowly and surely, the game started to take shape. At the beginning, the necromancer used to be a ranged character, and a lot of early ideas were bound to that mechanic, but like a lot of other things, this too got changed drastically after finding better and more entertaining ways of making the game challenging and fun.

After finishing up most of the basic systems, I added a bunch of relics and even in the first 30, some really insane combinations popped up. Now at the current number of over 200 relics, 4 combinable power gems and 3 uniquely cool outfits, I can safely say that there is a lot more to discover than ever before.

In late 2021, I finally created the steam page for the game. Soon after that, the awesome people from Ravenage contacted me about publishing and I am super happy to say that from that moment on, they are helping me make this game as good as possible and we also set up a release window in Q2 2022.

I am pleased to announce our partnership with publisher Ravenage – a team of very talented and experienced professionals, whose portfolio includes many projects that have won many international awards and nominations.Their team will help me to bring this game to a larger audience and let everyone know that it is nothing like spending your night in a bar with NecroBouncer.

I've been on spring break, & so I patched all the known bugs and added some needed polish to the game. I'd like to thank you all for the support, constant bug reports, feedback and content you've all been putting out!

Anyways, here are the patch notes:



Bugfixes
  • The map select menu now properly shows player counts
  • Fixed a bug that caused the chat to be spammed when killing bots
  • Fixed a typo in a joining message
  • Fixed a bug that caused you to remain scoped if you switched weapons from the sniper while scoped
  • Fixed an issue that caused the player to clip through some walls
  • Fixed an issue that caused the game to break when the save file was corrupted (from a BSOD or crash mid-game)
  • Fixed a bug that caused really loud music to play when leaving games (oops)


Map Improvements

Factory


The ceilings of the spoon factory map are taller now to allow for cleaner movement. Also added more cover and some cool details :)

  • Improved FPS on the Dunes map by 5-10%
  • Improved FPS on the Dragon Valley map by 4-7%
  • Added more spawn points to the Spoon Factory map


SFX
I've teamed up with my friend Vern Carson to make some awesome new SFX for the game!

Here's whats new this patch:
  • Improved AK + Frenzy reload sounds
  • New bubble grenade sounds
  • Audio feedback for sliding :)


Grapple Changes
  • Grapple hooks now sync over the network



Cloud Save
  • Your save files are now synced over the Steam cloud! (Works cross-platform too)


Lmaoo all these fixes make it seem like the game is so buggy— the game should be (almost) bug-free this patch.

So, what is Paper Cut Mansion in a nutshell? As said, it is a horror roguelite game that offers exploration, detective work, dimension-hopping, combat, puzzles and more. You will explore the titular mansion floor by floor, solve puzzles, battle enemies and complete quests as you unlock new abilities to aid you on each run and seek to solve the mystery behind the mansion.

You play as Toby, a police detective who arrives on a road leading to the eponymous old mansion. You will put those detective skills to the test as you seek to unravel the story behind this bizarre place, with each run giving you the opportunity to collect another piece of evidence to be tacked on the Evidence Board.

Run by run the game will offer you the opportunity of defining your playstyle as you unlock new abilities and discover new equipment that will give you a better chance of overcoming the challenges each procedurally generated run throws at you. Intrigue is further added through a dimension-hopping mechanic that lets you leap between alternate versions of the same location that switch up the aesthetics and gameplay.

Paper Cut Mansion's aesthetics are rendered using traditional and digital means. Each texture is hand-drawn on paper, then scanned into a computer, to be modeled into 3D paper crafts. It was an incredible amount of work, but it is totally worth it! We are a small team and have been working on Paper Cut Mansion for almost 5 years now.

Slowly but surely, however, we are turning into the home straight, and that feels damn good! We look forward to sharing more info and content out of Paper Cut Mansion with you soon!

[Important] This update is implemented only in the testing version (Alpha) of our game and will not be synchronized to stable release version (steam default one) until it is stable enough.
If you want to experience new contents in advance, you can manually switch the game to Alpha version as describe below.


Easter Themed Content:
  1. Added Easter active event: Easter Eggs would be spawned in the wild. You can get a reward after interacting with them.
  2. Added new Wonder Building: Giant Easter Egg. There will be rabbits popping out of it. Putting the collected Easter Eggs in this Giant Easter Eggs can increase citizens' happiness.
  3. Added animal - rabbit that can yield Easter Eggs.
  4. Added clothes Rabbits Ears that can be obtained by interacting with rabbits in the wild. (Valid after wearing during the event)
  5. Added 4 kinds of decorative buildings: Easter Egg. (Can be built after event)

Guides of switching to Alpha version:
  1. Switching Method
    Right-click Survival Settlement in the Steam LIBRARY, select Properties - BETAS, and choose the game version you want to participate. No need to fill in any code and the game will switch to the version of your choice after closing the window. (In some cases the game may need update and Steam restart.)

  2. Game Saves Compatibility
    In cases of major content changes or new contents, game save file in Alpha and stable version may not be compatible.
    We will try to avoid this situation as much as possible and will post a notice about save file usage in advance if necessary.
  3. Warning

Justina Gu calls upon icy energies to temporarily encase allies and herself within an icy aura. While in this state she recovers a set amount of armor at regular intervals and is able to resist all physical attacks, lasting for 3 sec.
2. [Arctic Wraith·Frostwind]
Justina Gu calls upon the icy energies deep within her soul and fires the icy sword energy in the aiming direction. The area of the sword energy will generate the icy fog that can [Freeze] enemies, lasting for 8 sec.

II. Koi of Fortune
Event Time: 04/14/2022 update, until April 27th, 20:00 (UTC).
Event Info:
1. Gain Koi Scales and event points by completing quests during the event.
2. During any mode's preparation phase (except Bloodsport), players must gather their efforts to collect 8 Koi Tokens within the time limit. If this is achieved, each player will receive 3 Koi Scales during that match's settlement stage and up to 6 Koi Scales per day.
3. Gain event points by blessing koi. Each blessing costs 1 Koi Scale and grants 10 points.
4. Gain 1 Gold Koi Gift by completing 10 blessings per day.
5. Players will receive rewards when enough event points are gained. Each player may gain up to 1,600 points as they will receive all the rewards then.

2) Combined the descriptions and logics of Frostbite Immunity and Freeze Immunity into [Freeze Immunity];
2. [Ice Core] and [Ice Core·Blink] can now be interrupted: Justina Gu may dodge and jump to break the ice earlier (1.5 sec after casting her skill).

II. Tarka Ji
Optimized the overall hit feel of [Inner Fire: Gigaflame]. Tarka Ji now hangs in the air if he casts [Inner Fire: Gigaflame] while dropping down in the air.

III. Wuchen
Optimized the performance of Wuchen's ultimate [Tai Chi Rift] and [Tai Chi Rift·Switch] when teleporting multiple Cairns. The teleported Cairns will not be stacked together now.

Souljade Adjustments
I. Buffs
1. Added [Starfall]: Players will teleport to their target upon activating Grappling Hook again whilst grappling.
2. Added [Poison Splash]: Players will release poisonous gas around them 0.5 sec after death. Enemies affected will take damage over time.

II. Longsword
Removed [Assault·Longsword] and combined its effects into the new Souljade [Assault•Smolder].

III. Melee
Added [Assault·Smolder]: Burns enemies you hit with melee Grappling Strike, causing damage continuously.

IV. Bow
Added [Switch·Bow]: Players will pull away and shoot upon switching to Bow during a melee combo.

V. Cannon
Added [Switch·Cannon]: ▪Players will fire a projectile upon switching to Cannon during a melee combo and knock themselves airborne.
Match Adjustments
I. Omni's Nightmare Adjustments
1. Added the Ballista that needs to be unlocked with Dark Tide Coins, which will be usable after unlocking.
2. Added the new Soul Lantern gameplay: A certain number of Rattans are set surrounding each Soul Lantern. Evil-Ents can use Axes to destroy the Soul Lantern and the surrounding related Rattans. After Heroes have repaired the Soul Lantern, those Rattans will appear again and will be updated once all of them are picked up. The status of Soul Lanterns can be distinguished by icon colors on the map: purple ones are broken Soul Lanterns.
3. Adjusted the positions of some Soul Lanterns.
4. Optimized the move of Evil-Ents’ combo. Now they can throw Axes continuously through vertical strikes.
5. Expanded the default bag capacity to 12 slots. Removed the Bag Upgrades for items at Rift Dealer and Morus' Blessing.
6. The armor will be restored to full after heroes are revived.

II. Controller Adjustments
1. Radial Menu Optimization: Added Weaponry Chests to the item Radial Menu. Changed the weapon Radial Menu from 8 slots to 4 in The Survival modes to keep it consistent with the Weapon Bag.

III. Hero Selection
Added the feature 'Swap Hero with Ally': In The Herald's Trial, players can request to 'Swap Hero with Ally' on the hero selection page after both have selected their heroes.

IV. In-Game Optimization
1. Optimized the size of the special icon above protected targets during Bodyguard quests.
2. Optimized the performance of dead characters' Cairns and the looting time.
3. Optimized the pick-up and purchase: when the bag is full, Souljades III & IV will automatically replace their I & II counterparts.

V. Turned off the Team Info checking feature in the preparation phase
In The Herald's Trial, the Team Info checking feature in the preparation phase is turned off. However, players can still check it through the shortcut during the match.

Out-Game Adjustments
I. Cultivation Quests
1. Adjusted all the quests “Attain victory in The Survival modes 3 times” to “Attain TOP 5 in The Survival modes 3 times” at [Yin Yang Mastery] stage.
2. Adjusted Justina Gu’s Cultivation quest “Freeze 3 enemies with a single Arctic Wraith” to “Achieve a Victory Blow” at [Deific Presence] stage.

2. Fixed an issue where the scene would sometimes disappear when Wuchen hit his target with [Spirit Blades·Blast].
3. Fixed an issue where Tarka Ji in his ultimate form would not be affected by Wuchen's ultimate and stagger.
4. Fixed an issue where Wuchen's ultimate would sometimes mistakenly teleport him to the previous registered teleport point.
5. Fixed an issue where the Cairns would be trapped in the terrain and cannot be rescued when Wuchen teleports the them.

II. Weapon-related Bugs

Lawless Lands - Corrosion

Hey everyone!

This update is a free improvement update for owners of the Smoking Sands DLC.

So, last night a user messaged me on the forums bringing up a good point. Firearms didn't have any special techniques that could be learned aside from the two weapon-granted skills such as hip fire and overpowder.

This update aims to fix that.

I've added two new learnable firearm techniques called Gut Shot and Point Blank which require the firearms proficiency in order to purchase.

Update 2.4.1 Change Log:

Bug Fixes:
  • None needed! Woohoo!

Changes & Additions:
  • Added Gut Shot firearms technique (+80% Chance to cause bleeding on use, costs 2 skill points and requires firearms proficiency)
  • Added Point Blank firearms technique (Ignores enemy armor, -60 init on use, +40% stunned chance on use, costs 2 skill points and requires firearms proficiency)
  • Added some attack new animations for the new skills
  • Added the new firearms techniques to all human class lists for characters and companions (They'll be towards the bottom, so scroll down)

NOTE: You do NOT need to start a new game. The update will be available shortly.
