This is Waku Waku Games.

Ketchup and Mayonnaise (or Ketchup Mayo for short), the RPG featuring two best friends in a spectacular and slightly weird adventure, has been officially released today!

Given it is being released as an early access version first, this version contains around half the content that the complete game will. If you liked the world, characters, and battles in the previously released trial version, we're sure you'll love the early access version that's out today, as well as the new content to be rolled out in the next year or two.





We'd like to share some words from the game's creator, Tatarabani:

Hello, I'm Tatarabani, the producer of Ketchup and Mayonnaise. Finally, the game has made it to the release of the early access version.

Ketchup and Mayonnaise features turn-based battles which incorporate various action elements. I put a lot of effort into creating a fun game that lets you intuitively enter commands to perform moves, dodge attacks, and defend yourself. In particular, I focused a lot on how characters are modelled, the worldscape, and the story. I hope you enjoy the slightly chaotic nature of the game, in which you can't be certain what it'll throw at you next. If unique visuals and a fun atmosphere are up your alley, I'd be grateful if you'd give it a try.

While we haven't set a concrete completion date yet, I can say that we plan to implement a major update sometime to expand the playable area. By that time, we hope to cram in our many ideas, such as new characters, battles, boss battles, and regions. But we need your support to get to that stage, so please do not hesitate to contact us with your feedback and comments.

I began working on this two and a half years ago, during which time a lot of people patiently waited for it, so I'm beyond happy now that it's finally taking its first steps into the world. Of course, you don't need to know any history of it to dive right in now. Just know that I'm glad I got to make exactly the game I wanted to make. So, if you enjoy playing Ketchup and Mayonnaise, don't be shy! Let us and everyone know! And most importantly, thank you very much.

A small update with bug fixes and a visual improvement:

  • Fixed a bug that prevented bug meat from being applied again after its effect ran out.
  • Fixed a bug where player could switch weapons while moving (without using up 1 turn).
  • Fixed a potential game freeze due to explosive chain reactions.
  • Smoothly fade out finished sprite animations.

GAME FEATURES

• Game Action - The game contains intense space warfare action, it is very explosive and strategic, with wisdom for the player to use their items and evolve their ship with technology from other planets.

• Gameplay – The game contains dynamics of precise and fast movements to accompany the pilot's agility, with a shooting scheme that the player does not need to release the button to shoot or use as he sees fit to attack enemies, a gameplay with accurate and compatible controls.

• Your Weapons – The ship's asthma can absorb the technologies of the ships destroyed in space and manage to increase its power, it has several types of weapons that you can acquire during the game, one of them that is very cool, are the guided missiles.

• Destruction
- Destroying enemy ships is something pleasant, with a feeling of victory with each achievement, defeating the masters of the stage is difficult and requires a good skill for the player, but with your weapons and resources your mission is fine.

• The Planet - Your planet needs you very much, if you let the ships from other planets reach planet Earth, your mission will fail and they will chase you even in your dreams until you play again and destroy them all.

• Achievements – STEAM achievements are well earned for each specific stage and mission, earn them all by being a good Pilot, the game contains 14 specific achievements.

• Graphics – The game has very beautiful and eye-pleasing graphics, with minimalist details, the player will enter a whole new universe and very full of battles.

  • The hotkey "R" now does not toggle the research menu when you try raising a road
  • Decreased park and stadium traffic
  • Fixed a bug that caused schools to not spawn any traffic

Big update to look and feel of entire episode 1!

Campaign mode: tweak pacing and level design, shotgun may now be obtained on level 3
Arcade mode: shotgun may now be given by rng earlier than level 4

Special Rooms
  • Special Room's voxel map may now spawn rotated making level more random
  • Add new special rooms
  • Remaster old rooms
Remaster room links:
  • Room links / connections / doorways (however you want to call it) now have procedural size and offset, making levels more WIDE
  • Links in outdoor maps now don't have silly link ceiling
  • Add more variations of locked doors (size)
Outdoor map rooms now have correct wall size in relation to neighbors

Add procedural 'doors' to doorways to hide ugly room loading (and somehow help indicate maze direction?)

Tweak AI processing

Difficulty tweaks:
  • "Arena" rooms have 1.5x base difficulty because they're more open by nature
  • Enemy projectiles have more lifetime before de-spawning
  • "Chaser" moves a little faster
  • "Big B." will not attempt to shoot hurting and spawner projectile at same time (so less friendly fire)
Minor bugfixes / tweaks
  • Fix dialog to pickup powerup not appearing when player opens treasure chest by hand
  • Enemies spawned dynamically (during boss) autonomically free their slots, allowing boss to spawn more enemies again
  • Enemies: fix walking animation not triggering when loosing line-of-sight to player
  • Rename option "Legacy Campaign Generation" -> "Do not randomize campaign seed" to avoid confusion
  • Update some wording in manual

Super Sky Arena - Ikrus
  • New Challenge Maps:
    1. Dash Ram to Glory - Only the Dash Ram ability as available. Kill 3 enemies to win.
    2. Firestorm - Endless Firestorms rage on the surface of Molten Core. Speed from safe zone to safe zone and avoid enemy fire to survive 3 minutes.
  • Storm events: All maps now have infrequent storm events (Snowstorm /Firestorm). All ships take damage while outside the safe zones.

New item: Cultist Robe. (It can have prefixes)
New item drop list to Skeleton Cultists. They now drop cultist items in addition to normal skeleton items. (Technically, if you have a high item drop boost, you can have one Skeleton Cultist drop three items at once.)
New furniture: Recycling Bins. (It's a container.)
To avoid accidentally losing items in the container, you will need to empty the content of a container before you can pick it up.
Please be aware. When you leave an unowned location, any furniture you previously dropped in this location disappears. So do the contents inside.

Made a usable container system that can store/retrieve items. (In theory, it shall be smart enough to do the auto-merge. To achieve such goals and cover all cases, the code is quite tedious, 226 lines.)
A UI for retrieving items will likely be added later. (For now, it just dumps out all items in the container.)

Both 18:20 and DNSAT, ver. 2 is less limited with Workers production rates while ver. 1 present more challenge and takes almost every second of that 5 stars time limit. Terraforming hidden with trademark terrain design and colouring, try both out today and explore solution choices and train routing puzzles, make new advances in organic computing systems production :)

10 minutes, no wrong deliveries, 6 coal hoppers is enough, and quite a number of suitable sites for bridge construction :) Many ways to complete, many possibilities to pursue, LPT'ed with many solution videos and a great deal of fun.

Short enough to restart, complex enough to need restarting. DNDATT, 8 minutes and a slower start leave enough computational power for finding efficient routes, then building around scenic ones and still delivering on time. Don't forget that bridge :)

Planning around that captured station and for making at least 5 wrong deliveries is refreshing, keeping the cities running by gathering materials and mining ores never gets old. Stay safe, keep the gold safe, keep some seconds unused on that 13:30 timer.

Engine limit, DNRT, 16 minutes-a picturesque train valley welcomes our construction and locomotive crews with stagnating industries, untamed canyons and many delivery quests.
