Hello, Steam Community!

In less than 5 hours, we'll begin a stream of our upcoming game, RackJacker!
We'll showcase the new features in the game and announce upcoming plans, as well as the Early Access release date.

Thanks!
GRAVEN - dominik
Dear GRAVEN fans,

We are very excited to share amazing news from the world of GRAVEN as the first major Early Access Content Update is OUT NOW!

The update adds two new areas - the Cruxfirth Archives and the Black House Bog, five new enemies, the Orthogonal Hymnal - a weapon capable of shredding foes with twin mana, the Swamp Bottom Swallow potion, weapon upgrades, spell upgrades and a lot more! Moreover, we have implemented numerous improvements and fixes to many bugs reported by our community!

It also marks the debut of GRAVEN’s experimental online co-op that is available through Steam. Play with other mighty priests (the lobby takes up to 8 but we recommend a maximum of 4) and roam a medieval world inspired by immersive sims and classic first-person shooters! We are confident there is a lot of fun to be had in the current state of the co-op mode and that's why we’ve decided to put it in our players' hands; but we want to re-state that it is still experimental at this stage and our team is working on improving it so it works flawlessly upon full release. Therefore we’d like to ask for your support as we improve the co-op mode and report any issues you might encounter to our team, via the Steam Discussions.

Additionally, as much of the save system has been reworked, we recommend players start a new profile. Outdated profiles are indicated by red text displayed on the profile slot in the profiles menu.

We are aware that we’ve been quiet lately and hadn’t released any new content because we wanted to focus on the game as a whole. While this update brings plenty of new features, items and improvements to GRAVEN, we’d like to highlight that the game is in Early Access, which means that there are still many things that will be added and improved until the game’s full launch. Lastly, we would like to thank each and every one of you for supporting GRAVEN so far and helping us identify issues and improve the game. And again - in case you encounter any bugs, please report them to our team through the Steam Discussions.

🌻 Community Feedback: We highlight items that we have implemented based on community feedback or suggestions. We look forward to your feedback in our Steam Community Hub or on our Discord server.

Changelog 1.0.1b
    UX Improvements
  • 🌻 Added "Fast Load" button to loading screen
  • Added "Load At Once" option to settings menu (this makes fast loading even faster, but freezes the game and causes it to become unresponsive until loading is completed)
  • Challenges can be pinned / unpinned by clicking their ingame icon

    Bugfixes
  • 🌻 Fixed creative mode loading getting stuck in games transferred from classic mode
  • 🌻 Fixed challenges getting registered multiple times and not getting unregistered when switching between savegames. This could result in challenge fulfilled effects being triggered multiple times, but also in other faulty behaviour, like tiles not being placed but counting for score
  • 🌻 Fixed preplaced tile quests not triggering immediately when directly fulfilled or failed while the preplaced tile is connected
  • 🌻 Fixed issue caused when undoing a turn where a new challenge was unlocked
  • 🌻 Fixed #9999999999 being displayed as leaderboard rank when starting the game
  • Fixed "Clear Progress" button
  • Fixed autosave screenshot in Save Games screen not being set up correctly
  • 🌻 Perfect placement ratio is no longer displayed in stats while loading the game, which had caused it to use wrong values for calculation and display percentages over 100%
  • 🌻 Fully completed challenges are no longer displayed ingame (only during the session in which they were completed)

    Other
  • Improved loading time & memory usage for maps with large tile stacks
  • Added key rebinding for Creative Mode > Generate Matching Tile tool
  • 🌻 Undo now also resets the tile rotation, so it no longer breaks the Heavy Weight challenge
  • Added experimental "Highlight Groups" toggle to Settings > Other to evaluate group highlighting performance issues

💛 Once again, we would love to thank you for helping us testing these changes and providing lots of feedback!

💛💙 Stay Safe!

Rise of Humanity - Szalage
Not too long ago we released our first update, and since then we’ve been working hard to bring you a bunch of new content. Now, the second update is here WITH A 20% DISCOUNT! Here’s the full list of what’s in it.

Check out our brand new trailer for Update 2:

New playable character: Danny

Danny might look like a punk, but he's actually a former acclaimed showman that excels in illusions and manipulation. His cards are tailored to divert the enemy but also to manipulate the deck of his allies!

Let's look at two new cards:
  • Shadow Clone - Deploy a holographic copy of yourself and use him to divert enemies or even attack them! Be warned: one Crusher attack and your clone's a goner. This card has a lot of nice combos to try out, so catch them all!

  • The Great Unveil - Ever wanted to play an enemy card? Now you can! With Danny's The Great Unveil card you can take a look at an enemy's hand and use one of their annoying moves against them!

New enemy type: MARV!

The MARV - or the chicken with a bazooka as we like to call it in the office - is the first ranged enemy in the game, which means it will shake up tactics quite a lot. No more hiding behind turrets or walls, this thing comes straight for your soul.

Let's look at one of the MARV's cards:

  • Vigilance - This is a reaction card, meaning the MARV will use it as soon as it sees you move in a 2 hex radius around it. Then of course, it will reward you with some explosive presents.
...and many more new cards!

The Warehouse, a new environment to play in!
We also conjured up the Warehouse, a magical place made for bot-clobbering. This abandoned multi-floor jungle of walkways and vines creates the most claustrophobic experience in Rise of Humanity yet. The level features a more narrow layout compared to the already existing levels. This also makes the Illusionist shine!

New Daily Challenge Missions!

The daily challenges just got more challenging! More enemies - yes, including the MARV -, more demanding mission goals, more tension in general.

Four challenge types will possibly get you into full-on nail-biting mode:

ESCAPE – Be a sci-fi Houdini and make your way to an ever-changing escape zone while dodging robot raids. All heroes need to escape, so make sure to bring some elbow grease.

DESTROY – Airborne AI shuttles dropped some deadly bombs that eradicate your whole team if you’re too late. Get going and wreck them all before time runs out!

SURVIVE – The robot horde has spotted you, but help is on its way. Can you stand your ground for long enough without getting annihilated? Pro defense tactics are required.

KILL THEM ALL – Classic mode. Just wipe out every robot and claim victory. Simple as that.

A brand new animated limited edition card
Our community over on discord voted on the Deploy Turret card to be turned into an animated one. So here it is! Make sure to play the game between March 31, 2022 and May 31, 2022 to claim your animated Deploy Turret card.

Tweaks and Fixes
And of course a lot of bugfixes and tweaks based on your reports and suggestions! Just to name a few:

  • Polish language added thanks to our community member
    vito74m / A100N
  • Quality-of-life improvements of the gameplay camera
  • Fixed numerous bugs that would cause the game to not respond

...and much more smaller bugfixes and tweaks!

Confident of your robot-ravaging skills? Try to get first on the monthly leaderboard! There’s a new challenge every day! Don't forget there is a 20% discount active for a limited time!
Crystal Project - River Running Games
Crystal Project has finally been released! It's time to explore the Land of Sequoia while you find Crystals, unlock classes, learn abilities, and create a party capable of taking down the world's toughest bosses. Or maybe you'd rather just stick to looking for secrets. The world was made for you, and it's up to you to create your own adventure.

Ruinarch - Marvin
Hello everyone. As we mentioned last time, we took a break from Ruinarch for the entire month of February. Aside from rest, we also spent some time working on a new game to get our creativity flowing. We'll give a short preview of that at the end of this post.

We are all now back again developing new content for Ruinarch for all of March and April and will do testing, tweaks and balancing on May. We plan to have the next update released around the 3rd week of May.

Here's what to expect from it:

Reworked Archetypes
This is a significant rework. Essentially, choosing an Archetype will still provide the player with a different starting loadout, but each time they upgrade their Portal, they will learn a couple of fixed Powers but will also now be given a few choices from both their Archetype's pool, as well as from other Archetypes (but from a lower Portal level). This is intended to make each Archetype more well-rounded as well as to make repeat plays more interesting. Even the same Archetype could feel vastly different depending on the choices made per Portal level.

The next step which will be added on a different update, is to separate the Victory Condition from the Portal Upgrades. There are a lot of exploits to produce Chaos Orbs easily which right now makes winning the game sometimes a matter of tediousness. We are still discussing how best to approach Victory Condition but we are currently leaning towards providing the player Archetype-based goals or challenges.

New Powers
With the reworked Archetypes System, we also needed to introduce more Powers to round out all Archetype's Upgrade Path options. There will be 8 new ones available. We also intend to improve some existing ones to make them more useful and interesting.

Grudges
Villagers may now develop Grudges towards other Villagers. A Grudge affects a Villager's behavior, they may quit a Party if they have a Grudge on its Party Leader, they won't assist a Restrained or Unconscious Factionmate they have a Grudge on and they will harshly punish a Criminal they have a Grudge on. The player can also eventually consume a Villager's Grudge using Trigger Grudge (one of the new Powers) to make them perform a deadly action against the Grudge target.

Improved Emotions
We're taken a second pass look at Share Intel and Emotions. We want Share Intel to have more useful effects when used by the player. Since it gives the target various Emotions, our approach is on making the effects of these Emotions a bit more intense.

Manipulating Mood
There will be more ways for Players to exploit a Villager in Critical Mood. One new approach for players will be to turn a Villager's Mood to Critical and then activate Exploit Mood on it. This will provide the player with a few choices randomly available based on the situation. They can make the Villager go berserk, murder a Rival, leave a Faction, etc.

Sound Effects
Finally got to add more of these to the game!

Nona's Game
Nona's Game will be the second game coming out of Maccima Games! During the height of the pandemic, one thing that kept us entertained are streamers playing multiplayer games like GTA RP, Raft, and most significantly: Among Us. Now that the Among Us craze has died down, we wanted to develop something that could potentially take its place without being another clone of it. This is a complete departure from Ruinarch's genre so we do think there may not be a lot of overlap in terms of audience but it is refreshing to work on something very different for a change. We'll discuss more details about the game soon!

So that it will not distract from development of Ruinarch, we've hired a full second team to work on Nona's Game concurrently. Aside from me who also works as the game designer, there is a tiny but complete team working on it separately.

It's quite risky taking on multiple projects at the same time but we do feel that there is a void left by Among Us for Streamers that we want to possibly occupy as soon as possible. We're hoping revenue from Ruinarch could continue funding both teams but we do expect there will be months (like March) where we go into negative and draw from savings instead. Something that players may not be aware of regarding revenue for games is that the dev team gets only around 30-50% of the base price due to tax, chargebacks, discounts, cheaper price on other countries, revenue sharing with Steam and publisher (even though our Publisher has already closed, we still have revenue sharing ongoing with them). The good news is that we do get some sales bump whenever we go on sale and usually that should be enough to sustain us for that month. We hope our sales continue as they are now at least for the entire year and we should be able to develop the two games in parallel without too many financial worries.

We'll leave you with a Promo Art for Nona's Game:

Tips System
When our new Community Manager started playing, she thought that using the Camera would give you a photo of the human beneath the Terror… and misunderstandings like that can impact how people play and enjoy the game. We see players forget to finish objectives, collect items they’ve unlocked or what to do with fuses in day and night, so we’ve introduced the new Tips system.

The Tips system will be shown to new players in game, or you can toggle them on or off in the Settings in the Main Menu.

Ranked

We know you’re keen to hear more about Ranked changes, but instead of rushing some changes we have decided to take more time to listen to the community and talk through any changes we might want to make.

So over the next few weeks, we’ll be discussing a number of things in #ranked-chat on our Discord. If you’re interested in the changes to the Ranked game mode, please join the conversation.

Today’s update means the Ranked season has been reset.

Keep an eye out for something special dropping on our socials later today, and we hope you enjoy the Anniversary Event, and we will see you in game!
