CU1, which stands for Content Update 1, is the major update in the Arbury Island cycle. It's packed with features, each one of them bigger than the next, with some of them being highly anticipated. Although we will, as usual, provide in-depth explanations when the update launches, here's a reminder of some of the exciting stuff coming your way with CU1, in case you'd missed it:
Trade House
If you've tried to enter every house in Temtem, you must've noticed some buildings described as Trade Houses or similar. These places are currently marked with a WIP sign, and are inaccessible, but this will change when CU1 hits.
The Trading Houses are the market-oriented locations in the game, where players will be able to post and receive offers without the need to directly interact with anyone. They will act as a bulletin board where everyone will be able to post their offers and requests and others will be able to sort through all these listings. All trade houses are equal and provide access to the same trading network, meaning you can simply drop by the one that's closer to you, or the one you find the most ~aesthetic~.
Dojo Wars
Each island in the Archipelago will hold a Club Dojo (so, six in total), which players will be able to conquer and hold. Clubs will be able to challenge the current Dojo leaders each week by participating in in-game tournaments and facing the rest of participating Clubs. These matches will take place in different time windows during the week, with it being on different days depending on the Dojo you're aiming to capture. This means there will be some Dojos that are super convenient for you, and others that are less so.
You'll need a minimum of 11 players to take part in Dojo Wars, and you can designate your participants with the future Dojo Warrior role. Once a Club has conquered a Dojo, they will be able to decorate it and obtain Pansuns for their Club during the time they hold it. And that's not all! Dojos conquered by clubs will also house the mysterious Dojo Park, of which we shall tell you more when the time is right.
Mounts
Mounts are a staple feature in any MMO and we didn't want to miss out on it! Although Matter Transfer Drones are very convenient and cover most of the Archipelago, Mounts will give you the possibility of taking in the scenery with the added bonus of speed and preventing untamed Temtem encounters. We're only adding a couple of mounts for now, and will include others in the future.
And —you guessed it— more!
As usual, we're not spoiling all our surprises just yet. There is a couple more features, QoL changes, balance and bug fixes, even some new Gears! Stay tuned to our socials and news channels for the date (once we have it), and have fun in the meantime. Temtem up!

The CoA designer has even given rise to a CK3 Heraldry Reddit board! If you want to check it out, here’s a link: https://www.reddit.com/r/CKHeraldry
We also want to show some of the fantastic CoA creations we’ve seen over the past weeks right here in the DevDiary, of course! Feel free to check a few of them on our forums.
In the team, we’ve been hard at work on the upcoming 1.5.1 update - there’s a lot in it (check out the changelog below)! We’ve been following your reports and listening to your feedback. We’re addressing many issues, and we’re even adding some more content! Here are a few examples of new stuff we’re adding:
▲ Firstly, we've spent a lot of time improving the lighting and shadows of all court scenes. Here's a sample of a few rooms (before is to the left, after to the right):
▲ We're also adding some more artifact 3D models, of which the Throne of Solomon truly towers above the rest!
▲ We're adding some new events, here's a sample (don't want to spoil everything, of course!):
▲ And here’s the changelog 1.5.1:
################### # Balance ################### - AI's will now leave factions more quickly when they are pleased with you as their liege - AI's will no longer press factions for Claimants they like if they also like their current liege a lot, with a decreasing chance at higher opinions (the AI will be less likely to press a claimant they have 80 opinion of if they have 60 opinion of their liege, for example) - The AI now considers Faith Hostility when selecting claimants - AI vassals are now more likely to offer a gift when paying homage - Added a Game Rule (Empire Obscurity) that makes empires that control below 20% of their De Jure counties be destroyed. This should solve empires sticking around forever as micro-realms. - Boosted the control gain from requesting Bailiffs from your Liege in a Petition - Corrected the modifiers of the Cup of Jamshid - Forcing same vote by using a hook on an elector will now last 100 years instead of 5 - It's now much harder to invite Inspired people to your court, and practically impossible to invite anyone who's currently being sponsored - Landless AI's will now try to equip artifacts you gift them via the interaction (depending on rarity) - Only House Heads will now demand the return of artifacts if there's only a house claim - Strategy Lifestyle bonus to Skirmishers has been moved to the Hit and Run Perk - The AI now has a 5 year cooldown towards asking to educate the players children if the player refuses - The AI will no longer demand artifacts from players they like a lot, and will no longer keep asking after you've refused once - The Chaste trait now only reduces Seduction scheme power - The Development progress from the Industrious Cultural Tradition is now applied at most once a year - The Holy Site of Qayaliq now gives Archer Cavalry bonuses - The Jousting Lists and Archery Ranges Duchy Buildings now give bonuses to camel, elephant, and archer cavalry - The Parthian Tactics perk now boosts Elephant and Camel cavalry - The Prestige gained from the Architect trait when it's boosted via cultural traditions have been changed from 50% to a flat +0.5/month - The War Camps and Hunting Grounds buildings now give Horse Archer bonuses - Tweaked various factors in the war for England, in order to reduce the chances of Harold winning - AI now moves capital to London on victory in Norman conquest, if possible - Northern Lords legacies can now be gotten by dynasts of any culture descendent from Norse as well as Norse culture itself. - Sacred Childbirth now grants piety each time a child is born and considers Pregnant a virtuous trait - Rebalanced artifact gift opinion gain - Tribal Kings and Emperors can now access the Royal Court, but it plays differently: - The 'Expected Grandeur' is always the same as their current Grandeur level. It cannot be above or below. - All Amenity Levels except the first two are blocked if playing Tribal - Amenity Costs are greatly increased if tribal (it was trivially cheap) - They only have access to one Court Type: Tribal. This one can be kept if feudalizing, but it doesn't give many benefits, and the AI will switch out of it fairly quickly. - All Tutorials and Game Concepts now mention Tribals and the differences they have - Several events that were ill-fitting for tribals will not appear for them (i.e. founding new City holdings)
################### # AI ################### - A unit stack wanting to resupply will spread out its subunit stacks into neighboring provinces even though said provinces might not allow resupplying, in order to try and avoid attrition. - AI should take player units into account for supply situation when selecting target province. - AI stops to raise levies with very small amount of troops - Allow units to ignore hostile attrition as a last resort when moving to a target in a neighboring county. - Added missing check for if a unit is moving or not when calculating troop strength for supply. - For combat evaluation, only count available subunit stacks if they are close enough. - If the main subunit stack is already moving, then don't deny being available for order because some units are still technically sieging. - Desperate AI will be more bold when selecting targets near enemy units, or when engaging enemy units. - Ignore non-castle provinces when giving extra score to province targets near the war goal area. - In Great Holy Wars the AI will be more focused on fighting about the war goal and less likely to shy away from confrontation due to numerical weakness. - Instructed the AI to adjust its court amenity spending in a more responsive manner - AI will no longer go to war for artifacts that are below masterwork, cursed or that it cannot use (like toys). - Lowered the AI cooldown on Pay Homage to 2 years from 3 - Blocked the AI from overspending in Hold Court events - Fixed an issue where AI's could get stuck and never go home after a raid

That’s it for this time, we hope you’ll enjoy the changes we’re making in 1.5.1!
Today is an auspicious occasion for us at Team Teal. We are starting a kickstarter campaign to raise money to fund Galactic Frontier, a game we have been working on alongside Damascus.
To celebrate this we decided to create an event in Damascus, with the items that get dropped having a space theme to them. The event is simple. Around the world are 3 types of enemies of various levels and killing them will drop the cosmetics.
But we didn't stop there. Because we felt you deserved more so we actually created a 4 level dungeon which is actually a bunker, a lost remnant of a world long forgotten. Here you will encounter 4 kinds of robotic enemies, the likes of no one in Damascus has seen before. And at the end of the dungeon is Decimus of the Machine Plague, a multi combat boss with some spicy mechanics and juicy drops.
We'd really appreciate the support with the Kickstarter. We love what we do and getting Kickstarted would allow us to dedicate more time to making games.
+ Started the Galactic Frontier Kickstarter Event. It will run for 2 weeks. + In celebration of the event every person who logs in will get the first pet Brobot deposited in their Wardrobe. + Jimbos have been added to the game. Their combat level is 4 and they attack with melee. + Babooms have been added to the game. Their combat level is 19 and they attack with melee. + Claw Bots have been added to the game. Their combat level is 102 and they attack with melee. + Injectors have been added to the game. Their combat level is 138 and they attack with psychic. + Decimus of the Machine Plague has been added to the game. He is a multicombat boss. His combat level is 730 and attacks in 2 stages. The first stage is range and the second stage is psychic, with a special psychic ability that can hit up to 3 players from distance. + A Bunker has been added to the game in the north west of Dominia. This is a multicombat area and has 4 levels to it. All enemies are aggro. Enemies also have a 1 minute respawn time (excluding boss) in the Bunker. + A Dungeon Crate has been added just outside this bunker. If you die in the dungeon your items will be transported to the crate and players will have to pay the alch value to get them back. DIMs do not have access to the crate so if they die in the dungeon their items will be dropped on the floor. + Add the Ray Gun to the game. It requires level 80 to equip and is a range weapon. It has a 1 in 300 drop chance from Decimus. + Added Energy Cells to the game. They are the ammo required for the Ray Gun. All enemies in the Bunker drop different amounts of these. + Added the Psy Sabre to the game. It requires level 80 in psychic to equip. It has a melee attack distance. It comes in 5 different colours. Each colour Psy Sabre has a 1 in 1500 drop chance against Decimus which equates to a 1 in 300 chance to get a Psy Sabre. + Added Focal Lens' to the game. These can get used on a Psy Sabre to change its colour. They come in 5 different colours. Using a Focal Lens on a Psy Sabre will consume the Focal Lens. + Gave all dungeons slightly brighter lighting.
Bug Fixes
+ Fixed a bug where equipping an item in the shield slot with Cursed Claws equipped would result in the player losing their charges. + Fixed a bug where players could use the actuators in their Actuator Pouch if it was in the bank. + Fixed a bug where rings would not drop on death.
Our brave dev team did a number of streams for the last Steam Festival and had a blast doing it. The Camping Builder demo had been thoroughly played through by different members of the Two Horizons family and no surprise – some unexpected and funny things occurred during the streams.
In the video below, you will see some of the best bloopers that we’ve selected from hours of video material that was recorded for the Steam Next Fest. Brace yourselves and hold on to your chairs! Also, it would be wise to not consume any food or drinks while watching this video for the sake of your screens.

In light of the recent Russian invasion on Ukraine, starting from February 24th, we have decided to donate 100% of revenue earned in Russia (also Belarus and Ukraine), towards help for Ukraine. We have considered other options but hope this one will provide help and also give the option to support Ukraine for those, who cannot openly speak against the war and Russian government in fear of their lives.
Slava Ukraini!
P.S. many apologies for the google translate! Please lest us know in comments if we can adjust anything to make more sense...
Today we want to talk about the global graphical improvements, 4K/8K game client, and artistic neuronet.
Necessary Changes
The latest War Thunder vehicle and asset models are created in 4K, or even 8K resolutions, but textures of such sizes significantly increase the size of the game client. In addition, the game has a lot of content created with textures in 2K resolution, for example, some of the aircraft with which War Thunder began its journey back in 2012. But as time goes by, monitor resolutions, hard drive sizes and internet speeds grow, so we want to make the game look better. We are introducing a new ULTRA HD texture pack that brings a higher resolution to War Thunder that meets the standards of modern games. It's time to change for the better, and we are taking this step in the next update of the game!
Game clients to choose from
To move to the new graphics with high resolution textures, we need to rebuild all the textures in the game. Three types of game client will be available for players after the update is released: minimal (minimal size, suitable for trial playing at 720p resolution), standard, with textures of the same resolution as you see them in War Thunder now, suitable for playing at resolutions up to 1080p; and improved, which will bring textures of tanks, planes, helicopters and elements of the game environment to 4K/8K resolutions, and which is suitable for playing at Ultra-HD (1440/2160p). Unfortunately, even players who prefer to use standard or minimal clients, will have to download a rather large update once, with the release of the upcoming update. This is required for the technical features of the transition to high-resolution global rendering, as well as improved technology for creating land surfaces that also requires rebuilding most of the textures of the game environment. Players who wish to upgrade to UHD textures will be prompted to download additional game data that will be installed after the standard client. The same option for selecting texture quality will be available to owners of new generation game consoles as free DLC (make sure you have enough space and 4K support). For previous generation consoles, the client with high-res textures will not be available due to lack of memory in the consoles.
Artistic neuronet
Most of the textures of ship models, tanks and up-to-date elements of the game environment do not require any modifications to go into ultra-high resolution format - they were originally created in 4K and 8K formats, and then compressed to save disk space. However, things are different with aircraft textures. The fact is that most of the War Thunder aircraft textures were created in direct relation to the dimensions of the models, which means that we do not have these files in the sizes necessary for high-quality display in high resolution. There was only one way out: redo all the textures for most of the aircraft in the game! It would take several years for our artists to complete such a task, even with the help of partner studios (one plane is at least 8 texture maps, apart from cockpit textures. Gaijin programmers came to the rescue, creating a neural network that was taught how to scale textures based on a complex analysis of the original image, and the network was trained precisely on the textures of War Thunder vehicles. The essence of the technology lies in the fact that artificial intelligence analyzes image areas and individual pixels in them and supplements the image with new pixels. The resolution increases, thus improving the quality of the final texture. The neuronet processed the textures of aircraft, helicopters, instrument panels and the interior of cockpits, as well as environmental elements in the locations - the textures of buildings, rocks, sidewalks and cobblestone pavements, curbs, palisades, and many others. Artificial intelligence did an excellent job - the quality of all textures in the game has increased significantly without loss of detail. We noticed only one aspect of the neural network algorithms in the processing of the smallest technical inscriptions on the fuselages of aircraft. These service marks for ground services were not readable before, but after processing by the neuronet, their shape became bizarre, reminiscent of the Elvish script from Tolkien's works - the neural network doesn’t know specific languages. However, all more or less significant inscriptions, marks and decals on the hulls and fuselages of the vehicles remained perfectly readable, so we consider this assumption quite acceptable. together with a significantly increased quality of textures in general. Corrections of such inscriptions will require manual work, which we will be carrying out over future updates.
