Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki has said the launch of the game is "not a very pleasant time" that's made him anxious.

The comments were made in an interview in the latest issue of Famitsu, translated by VGC.

"It's the same for all past titles, not just this one, but it's not a very pleasant time," he said. "I'm sure I'm relieved, but I'm more anxious about it. I never get used to it."

EA has successfully overturned a €10m fine handed down in October 2020 by the Court of The Hague, which ruled FIFA Ultimate Team packs broke Dutch gambling law.

The ruling slapped a €500k fine on EA for every week it did not comply with the court's demand that it pull FIFA packs from its most recent games, up to a maximum overall fine of €10m.

At the time, EA said it would appeal the decision, and did not pull FIFA packs from sale - signing itself up to incur the full €10m penalty.

Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley, a new musical adventure based on Tove Jansson's much-loved series of children's stories, just got a first trailer - and it's looking very lovely indeed.

Melody of Moominvalley is being developed by Norwegian studio Hyper Games and promises to take players on a "cosy" adventure in which they'll need to harness the power of music and their trusty harmonica in order to restore nature after the Park Keeper and his minions build hideous parks all over Moominvalley.

Moominvalley itself is presented as fully explorable open world, rendered with a wonderfully appealing storybook art style, and is said to feature a "charming" cast of characters for players to encounter as their adventure unfolds, each with a story to tell and quests to complete. Expect musical and environmental puzzling with a bit of stealth thrown in.

Fall Guys has rolled out a new game mode, Sweet Thieves, which is available via a limited test now.

The offering, detailed in a new trailer below, has shades of Capture the Flag. One team must sneak in and steal candy pieces from the other team's base - but there's a stealth element at play also.

If a thief (who is invisible) gets grabbed, they are sent into a jail area. Thieves can then choose to devote time to unlocking the jail, at the expense of going after more candy.

The US Justice Department and SEC are investigating potential insider trading connected to Microsoft's $69bn buyout Activision, the Wall St Journal has reported, and specifically the large bets placed on stock by three men, just days prior to the deal becoming public.

On 14th January, the men spent more than $100m on Activision stock options priced at just $40/share, underneath the company's then $63 price. In effect, they were already making a profit.

Four days later, on 18th February, Activision announced it was being bought in a deal worth $95/share. If and when this deal is ratified, the men stand to make more than $100m in profit.

Bubbling lava oozes over the once-green surface of Svartalfheim, snaking past its proud, towering Tolkien-esque statues and mountains of gold. Molten fragments now fill its sky, and bear down ominously from above. This dwarven realm has been torn apart by fiery invaders while Odin, supposed protector of the Nine Realms, did not care to intervene. Now, finally, the Norse god has arrived to tackle the marauding Muspels - but only in pursuit of those who have captured Baldr, a beloved son.

It's been some time since I last wandered Valhalla's dreamworlds, the game's mythology-inspired areas that weave a companion tale to its main Norse narrative. (I will try my best to avoid spoilers here.) For most players, Asgard and Jotunheim were a fun diversion from Saxon slaughter, a chance to sightsee some of the bigger names and places in Viking/Marvel Cinematic Universe mythology. For Assassin's Creed diehards, they were also a window into the franchise's longer-running story threads. Here, Dawn of Ragnarök serves up a more expansive mythological storyline that's still grounded and approachable enough for all players, even as the expansion immerses itself fully into fantasy, and layers on a fresh set of systems.

Svartalfheim is a land where, playing as Odin, you finally feel like a god. Through a new power system and fresh abilities, with supercharged gear and across dramatic scenery, Dawn of Ragnarök emerges as a mighty expansion which builds upon the current Valhalla gear endgame with a further array of fireworks, while centring its version of Odin and letting players delve a little deeper into the mind of its mysterious star. Its story, set after the main game's mythical sections but before the much-prophesied Ragnarök itself, fills in more details of Odin's life and motivations. Several faces - some expected, some not - pop back in to accompany you along the way. And there's also a bit more from Eivor herself, in a handful of scenes which neatly cap off the main game.

This piece contains spoilers for a few Elden Ring bosses.

For the first few hours of Elden Ring, I was miserable. I'd embarked on my journey into the Lands Between with a preconceived notion in my head: that I would be a serious swordswoman, sticking to the straight and narrow with my fighting style. I would use my powers of dodging, rolling and occasionally landing a hit to grind down my enemies' health bars. Nothing fancy, just good old-fashioned, no-nonsense melee combat. That's the way you're supposed to play a Souls game, right?

After repeatedly butting my head against the game's first few bosses, I began to despair. My sword-and-shield combination wasn't getting me anywhere, and it felt like I'd never walk through the gates of Stormveil Castle. As a hardened Sekiro player, this felt like some sort of personal failing. I trudged out into the wilderness, in search of something, anything, that could turn my fortunes around. And I did, with the help of a rather unexpected item. I found a whip.
