Suzerain - hopppi

Citizens of Sordland!

We hope you have all started the year well. Our team was able to enjoy a short winter break and we are now back with new energy.

First things first: One of the projects we have been busy with has been finalised and is ready to be launched. You can read about it here.

On the other hand, work on the unannounced project progressed side by side with the mobile from September until the present, but now that the majority of the work has been completed all of our studio resources are focusing on it at full capacity. Here we have made massive strides in finalizing the art direction, starting the character pipeline, adding animations, spatial audio, narrative design updates as well as other design developments in gameplay. We are currently in a very fast-paced development environment focused on developing a core product.

On other news, we finally have an official launch date for our merch store, the 24th of February. The items available at launch will be:
- Stickers
- Map of Sordland
- Flag of Sordland
- Torpor Games mug
- Suzerain art poster

Join our newsletter if you would like to be notified on the day of the launch.

We would also like to congratulate The 167th Yes Voter for winning the anthem contest. The Dawn March has been chosen to go along the new anthem of Sordland.

Our nation's official linguist Pyry Paavola is currently working on the Sordish translation and musical arrangement for the anthem, which will be shown to the world upon completion in the upcoming weeks.

The overall quality of the submissions is astounding and these anthems deserve special recognition: on 2nd, 3rd and 4th position we have O Sord, The Velchord March and Light of Sordland respectively, as they received the highest amount of votes on Discord, where all of the lyrics have been listed.

Here's a snippet of the winning anthem:

At the end of 2021, Making Games magazine issued an article about Torpor Games, Suzerain and the indie gamedev journey, you can find the article online here.

Finally, on the 16th of February at 17:00 CET, Ata will be talking about the development of Suzerain and running an indie games studio with games:net Berlin Europe, more info here.

Suzerain - hopppi

Citizens of Sordland! Suzerain is coming to mobile, in the first half of 2022. An official release date will be announced in the upcoming weeks.

Our mobile project started in late June 2021 and we have reached completion in January 2022. Lots of effort went into making the game more optimized for the mobile platforms including smartphones and tablets both in performance and user experience. Towards the end of the development we entered a quick iteration process, polishing as much as we could to make the experience feel close to native to the devices as well as fixing dozens of bugs. We are glad to be at the end of the process. Special thanks to Daniel and Juan who focused the most on the mobile project so far.

For this, we are looking for people who can help us playtest. If you are interested, join our Discord and follow the instructions in the News channel.

The Riftbreaker - voidreaver
Hello Riftbreakers!

Thank you for sending in all your ideas for the Skill Design contest. Just like in the case of the Weapons Contest we have read through all of them and created a shortlist of the best suggestions. Now it is time for you to decide which one we are going to implement in the game!

Here are the candidates that we have preselected. The descriptions are just to give you a general idea of what this skill/consumable could work like in the game. They do not represent the final design, as that is likely to change during development. Take these descriptions as an ‘artistic vision’, rather than actual descriptions. As always, please take them with a grain of salt - we might not be able to implement them in this (or any) form, but we will do our best!

Up first - Decoy - suggested by: Arun, Ravick, Space Jesus, Sage - Blindpsyco, frognik, Stephan Burczymucha

This skill would allow Mr. Riggs to leave behind a device (a holographic projection, a cardboard cutout, you name it) that would take the enemy creatures’ attention away from The Riftbreaker and their base structures for a limited time. There is a lot of potential for upgrades here - we could make the decoy explode at the end of its lifecycle, or add a small tesla generator that would deal energy damage to creatures that get too close. The Decoy has the potential to unlock a lot of variety in combat, giving you the ability to divert groups of enemies.

Next idea - Directional Shockwaves - suggested by: Arun, Diminutive Jerrymson, Bonegrinder, Sage - Blindpsyco, Kaldo

Let’s say that you’re equipped with a Flamethrower and a Plasma gun. You’re peacefully exploring and researching a new area of Galatea 37. All of a sudden, the ground starts shaking and an enormous hostile alien emerges from underneath the ground. You start blasting, but alas - it turns out that the creature is resistant to fire and energy damage. The situation seems dire, but luckily, you have another trick up your sleeve! This new activated skill allows you to launch a directional attack imbued with the element of your choice, acid, for example. You press the button. KA-POW! It was super effective! The day is saved. Adding an easily controllable elemental attack that you could equip would help you prepare for creatures of varying resistances, making it an interesting choice.

The third one - Core Overcharge - suggested by: SenorRagequit, Beta_Krogoth, adder007usa, Denizan11, frognik

POWER… OVERWHELMING… This skill would allow Mr. Riggs to boost his Fusion generator, sending his sophisticated circuitry to absolute overdrive, temporarily increasing some of the weapon stats, such as rate of fire and damage. This skill would have a lengthy cooldown but might give you an edge while facing a horde that turns out to be stronger than expected. Cool visuals included.

Up next - Temporary Barriers - suggested by: Mirado, hebeach89, Darklight

This one goes out to everyone whose first reaction to the incoming flood of alien creature horde was to stack sandbags and seek shelter. These consumables would allow you to set up sizeable barriers that no one could pass through, increasing the complexity of the battlefield and giving you more options to outsmart the attackers. For example, if you see a horde trying to get through a narrow passage, you could block them off with a couple of well-placed, temporarry barriers. Simple, but effective!

The last one - Bioscanner Turret/Drone (TBD) - suggested by: Ravick, YamiryuuZero, Oddux, SenorRagequit

Exploring and gathering information is an important aspect of the mission for a lot of Riftbreakers. The necessity to drop all activities in order to go scanning the fauna and flora discourages a lot of more action-oriented pilots. These consumables are the solution to that problem. Just drop one of these devices in the field and it will automatically try to scan all the species within the radius of operation. This way, you can still gain research samples and the bonuses that come with them, while not giving up on other activities on Galatea 37. Win-win!

Which skill/consumable would you like to see implemented in the World Expansion 1? Vote here: https://forms.gle/PTf6ungtoAgeEwWg9

Voting ends on Monday at 11 AM CET.

We hope that everyone will find something interesting in this selection. We believe that all of these would benefit the game greatly, so everybody wins regardless of which skill gets chosen. Plus, we are planning a lot more skills and consumables of our own, so stay tuned for more information on that!

Cheers,

HereSphere VR Video Player - HereSphere
  • Tag search and sorting features now work with playlists. Clicking on the "Generate Categorized Tags" button will also generate tags for the currently visible playlist. The order of items in the playlist cannot be changed with dragging and dropping unless the sort method is "None".
  • A tag search of "-" (by itself) will remove any videos containing any tags, showing just the videos with no tags. A tag search of "+" (by itself) will show videos with any tag, removing videos that do not have at least one tag.
  • When shuffling (or using the open random file keybinding), a file will not be repeated until all the other files have been played.
  • Added a "Prefer Fisheye" toggle that makes fisheye (instead of equirectangular) the default projection mode when a SBS VR video is detected.
  • A countdown will now be shown when pressing the reset orientation or recenter position button on the menu (using the key bindings is not affected).
  • Fixed an issue with streaming from download links that require a popup window to retrieve the actual download link.

SCP: Nine-Tailed Fox - Vane Brain
The time has come! SCP: Nine-Tailed Fox is finally available on Steam for free! It took us a bit longer that we thought, but that's something that is usual to huge game mods ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The progress went really far compared to how the mod looked in 2015, as originally it was just a small gun addition to SCP - Containment Breach!

We want to thank everyone for support, ideas and testing of the game!

Meanwhile we also want to point out that this is not the final version of the game! There are some bugs still in the game that you might encounter.

The game freezes at loading screen when I started a new game!
This can happen due to some issues in the map generation, causing the game to get into infinite loop. The solution for this is to try another map seed, while reporting to us the bugged seed.

I roamed the whole facility! Is there a way to finish the game?
Currently there are no endings in the game. However this is for sure planned for the future!

Some players are invisible in the Multiplayer!
This issue is currently investigated

Some events in Singleplayer are broken!
We are currently working on updates to fix this issues

In any case feel free to make a bug report and we will see what's going on!

Thank you, and enjoy the game!
