Hey there everyone, welcome to another HUGE UPDATE for Let's Build a Zoo! The team have been wanting to add water for a little while but wanted to make sure it was special, not just another floor tile for you to use. We're all super proud of their efforts, and with this new patch, your animals will be able to take a little dip, have a little splash and be thoroughly entertained and enriched by any water features you add to their enclosures!
Here is what's new, including some fixes and lots of new content. Bear with us, it's a long list!
Patch Notes for 1.1.9_4
Made a new water system – Animals will need as much as 90% less enrichment if they have access to lakes! (Some animals like water more than others do, but you get to figure that out)
Made animals jump in and out of water (enjoy!!)
Fixed a broken quest line for Kathleen and added the unlockable Final End News to the Newspaper Journal
Fixed the number not updating for the population manager building UI when a pen is destroyed
Fixed visitors using several subway teleports in a row
Tweaked pathfinding to give better pathing
Fixed a pathfinding memory leak (this time for good!)
Fixed the pen builder trying to build through subways
Added a nice forest below the zoo
Added a ‘back’ button to the character select/ zoo naming screen
Fixed the prices changing for pens – no more weird profits!
Added zoning for Farmers and Crop Pickers
Added a red/blue outline in Animal Selection to easily show gender
Added arrows to cycle through CRISPR and Breeding buildings
Added a highlight around variants being bred in the Breeding Management screen to highlight different variants easier
Added a Pen Summary View showing ALL your pens – Access it by hitting the Y key!
Added a checkbox to apply salary changes and bonuses to all employees of that type
Added a gender icon to animals in the Pen > Animals list
Changed text when moving farms – it no longer calls them pens
Fixed the population manager showing a pen not in your lists – it now also does partial donations if you’re missing the money to donate them all!
Lowered the time it takes to hire a geneticist, and converted the time into days if over 24 hours
Added sorting in the Animal Selection menu – you can now sort by Age, Gender and Variant
Cleared up the quest stamps
Set the nutrition building to auto-order food as soon as the first one is built
Fixed a crash where moving a farm would put trash out of bounds
Added a small info panel on zoning maps for pens
Fixed the Sewage Recirculators – these were not counting properly
Edited the utilities panel to make Sewage Recirculators and Electricity Siphon’s use more clear
Fixed the ‘apply to all’ checkbox that wasn’t applying extra ingredients across shops. Also fixed it not applying settings to new shops built.
Fixed the water heat map – it was getting confused when moving water troughs and then cancelling the move again
Cancelled heat maps if you’re building – this should make placing bins much easier!
Fixed the undertakers not picking up corpses from edited pens
Fixed an issue where the abattoir worker would get stuck and wouldn’t know which direction to go in
Fixed up the light calculations (hopefully no more silly numbers - e.g. if item 1 is 40% and item 2 is 10%, item 2 would have counted as 50%, making the total 90% instead of 50%!)
Fixed a bug where ratings (light, deco and facility) were one step behind after destroying items
Fixed the Choco Vending Machine not giving facility points
Removed frame saying ‘+0 animals space’ when converting pen to robot animals
Added Lake category to the research tree
Fixed an inconsistency in going backwards through the enrichment menus
Added notifications on the left for battery and nursery animals that have stopped production
Fixed item descriptions when building through the pen menus
Added a Water Decorations category when building pens
Updated the building counter in the collection summary
Improved logic for choosing breeding pairs in the nursery – we’ll be avoiding pregnant animals and prioritising lifespan from here on out!
Fixed where ‘Arctic’ is misspelt as “Artic”
Made night-time slightly less dark (and have banished the terrors)
Allowed click out of building mode for pens more easily
Fixed the French translation sometimes showing * in places
Fixed transport sometimes not unlocking properly
Clamped ‘cash held’ display in the save summary
Changed the building code for rotations – offset snap/jump is now fixed!
Changed the way the pen builder blocks the mouse when trying to build over a pen or farm
Fixed an end of week camera lock bug
Phew, that was a lot! There are a lot of changes in there that we know folks were looking for, and the team are excited to start work on the next update that may be smaller, but it is something you've wanted for a while!
Let's start off the year with our new feature: Growth Mode!
Join me as we dig in further on how this new feature works.
Once you login, you'll get a Growth Mode package for free.
The Package includes the following items:
These items can be used as a head start for everyone.
Character Growth
What is a Character Growth Mode?
Similar to our Training Mode before, Character Growth Mode is a new feature where ballers can play automatic matches and get additional attributes and special motion skills.
Let me guide you through the other features.
UI & Functions
Match Play, Character Info, Character Switch, Coach Management Features are located in the Main Page.
You can also check the ongoing matches, events, daily rewards as well.
Then, shall we go check each feature one by one?
Growth mode can be accessed through the Lobby, at the lower right bottom of the screen or via Character Selection screen.
[Lobby Screen]
[Character Selection Page]
Character Switch
In the Character Switch Page, this is where you choose the Character you want to use in participation for Growth Mode.
Please take note that Characters switched to Growth Mode cannot be used to play in usual 3v3 Match (Normal Match)
You will have to choose a different Character if you wish to play a Normal Match while the other Character is currently in Growth Mode.
IMPORTANT!!!
Be sure to properly read this before switching the desired character in order to avoid any inconveniences.
Manage Coach
Coach Information:
There are 5 coaches in total, and they have different Coach Grades.
Each Coach Grade have different number of remaining matches and abilities.
And if the number of remaining matches is down to 0, you will not be able to equip the same coach anymore.
Coaches can be obtained from the Manage Coach section.
Find the Coach you like by using the Draw Ticket!
Coach Pack
*You can obtain Coach Packs by using the draw tickets you own. *Each Coach Pack contains a random Coach with a certain star grade. *Each Coach Pack Prices depends on the Coach Grade you want to obtain *Obtained Coach can be viewed at Manage Coach and Character Info Menu
Coach Disassembling:
You may disassemble multiple Coaches and it will give you Coach Pieces that can be used to enhance your preferred Coach.
Please take note that the Coach that has been used cannot be enhanced further.
Coach Enhancing
1-STAR -> 2-STAR Coach Enhancement
2-STAR -> 3-STAR Coach Enhancement
Coach Sub-attribute Changing
If you have drawn the coach you like, you can change the attributes by using the Coach Sub Att.
A user can only lock a maximum of 2 attributes.
Ticket requirement depends on how many Sub-Attributes have been locked.
Moreover, if you change the attributes, you won’t be able to recover the previous attributes you had. So please take note of it.
Note: Card-sub attribute price will increase if there's any locked attribute in process and only 2 sub-attributes can be locked
Character Info
Once you're satisfied on your Coach's attributes and Grade
This is the best time to equip it!
You can equip the coach alongside the character you want to use at the Character Info Page.
You can only equip one coach for each character, make the best synergy by equipping the coaches that will make the most benefit out of the Character you have chosen.
And you can also check the obtained attributes and the motion skill as well, here in the Character Info Page.
Play Match
Now, you are all set, geared up and got your coach by your side. If you're ready, Why don’t try and start a match?
First, choose the court you like!
Note:
Other court requires a certain number of Growth Mode Matches before you can unlock them.
The positions and tactics have each strengths and weaknesses.
And you can find out which position and tactic you would use in the match.
Try to set the best strategy and increase your chances of winning the match.
The more you know about the opponent’s strategy, the higher chance you’ll get to win the match.
As an example, if your opponent is using a Positional tactic, consisting of C, SF, and PG.
The current winning rate is 50%, but if you change your strategy.
The probability of your winning rate will go up
So choose your team wisely before picking your opponents!
NOW, Let's start the growth mode by using the match ticket!
The game will automatically be played and when your game ends, you can review the game record.
First, click the complete button!
You’ll be able to find out if you have won or lost the game.
In each game, your character may earn or lose attributes according to the game condition.
Let’s press the next button to check the details
The Match Details shows the game highlights, the Game Points made, and the rewards.
If you click the timeline button on the right top corner, you’ll also be able to check the specific actions performed by each Character.
Complete Growth Mode
Once your character completes the growth, you can choose to switch your Growth Completed Character back to the Normal Mode Character.
You just have to simply click the character you want to switch,
And click the Switch Button!
You have to decide whether you would want to remain the Growth completed attributes and exclusive motion or to start over with the Default Attribute.
The Growth Mode will make your character more special.
We believe that the growth mode will make you enjoy Freestyle 2 in a different way.
So this is it for the introduction of our new Character Growth Mode.

This week, we’re bringing you a wealth of improvements to Leagues III: Shattered Relics!
Leagues III: Shattered Relics Balancing
It’s been great seeing so many of you getting stuck into our third League, Shattered Relics! We’re seeing some seriously powerful Fragment and Set Effect combinations, and we’re glad you’re thoroughly enjoying the extra strategy involved this time.
We’ve also seen feedback suggesting that the few restrictions in place are too limiting, and that the best Fragments and Set Effects take too long to obtain.
We’d like to alleviate these concerns somewhat by rebalancing the Renown cost required to unlock new skills and bosses. Those of you who’ve already unlocked this stuff will have the difference refunded. By opening any Leagues interface you'll get your refunded points with the amount shown in the chatbox. Happy spending!
This means if you haven't tried Shattered Relics yet, it's definitely not too late to start now!
We’d also like to rebalance some task requirements that are not realistically achievable in the time that Shattered Relics League will be available.
Here’s some handy infographics:

Merch: Steamforged Games
Get ready to rock and roll in the wonderful world of Gielinor! After more than 21 years of being exclusively digital, we’ve partnered with Steamforged Games to bring Gielinor to tabletops around the world!
Steamforged are creating both a board game and a core book for a tabletop roleplaying game set in Gielinor. Both games will debut in 2022 – the board game will be launched on Kickstarter, but the TTRPG will be heading straight to stores.
We know you can’t wait to start creating your own tabletop adventures – but how about shaping the games themselves? Get involved by taking part in our survey!
You’ll also get the opportunity to engage with Steamforged on Kickstarter and other dedicated community spaces throughout development. For the full announcement, invites to playtests and the latest updates you can join the dedicated mailing list on their website.
The Board Game
The board game will take 1-5 players on thrilling, quest-based campaigns through Gielinor. You’ll be able to craft and upgrade equipment, learn and improve your skills, cook special recipes, engage with your favourite NPCs and explore different regions, with a variety of enticing side quests to distract and entertain you on the way... oh, and did we mention the miniatures?
The Tabletop Roleplaying Game
The TTRPG will take the form of a lavishly illustrated, hardback core rulebook containing everything you need to run a campaign in the world of RuneScape! Build your own characters, explore the lush land of Gielinor, and create your own unique and exciting quests!
Both games will draw on quests, characters and locations from across RuneScape and Old School RuneScape’s history – and the TTRPG will be fully compatible with the fifth edition of the world’s favourite roleplaying game!
Additional Changes
Two issues relating to unique drops from Nex have been resolved. These issues were due to an oversight with the release of Shattered Relics:
Some players were able to unintentionally receive double unique drops from Nex. This was resolved via a hotfix shortly after it was introduced to the game.
An issue preventing some players from being eligible for unique drops from Nex has also been resolved. This was resolved via a hotfix earlier this week.
Whilst these issues were fixed immediately after we became aware of them, we do regret not spotting them earlier and would like to apologise to any players who were impacted by this.
Removed duplicate settings in the Settings interface.
The iOS Account Deletion button now links to a new web page specifically for iOS players, with a simpler UX for requesting to delete or disable their account. This will still not appear for Game Centre accounts not linked to a RuneScape account.
Players with a skill total of 1,500 or more are now allowed into Last Man Standing’s competitive modes even if they lack the 30 Quest Point requirement introduced last week.
Players with the Buff Bar disabled but the ‘Show Fragments’ button enabled are now able to see their Fragments.
Corrected a typo in The Sage’s dialogue.
Added more options for activities in the Clan Settings, including Risk-Free and Ferox Enclave.
Added in-game messages relating to filling the vessel to the spam filter.
Reduced amount of players allowed into a Tithe Farm instance from 3 to 2.
PvP World Rota
The PvP rota has moved to Period B:
560 - (UK) - PvP World
579 - (US) - High-Risk PvP World
561 - (UK) - Free-to-Play PvP World
580 - (US) - LMS Competitive
World 390 (AUS) for LMS Competitive has been de-activated with this rota.
