Project Voidcraft - astoriah
Hi everyone! Welcome to our first update for Project Voidcraft. Special thanks to everyone who participated in our very first Alpha test. In the spirit of listening to and acting on feedback, we've already made some changes based on it. Many of you complimented our music selection on the radio and wanted to know the name of the songs, which is why we have now added the station name and song name to the radio - so you won't miss out on any good songs you encounter on your space journey. Along with this, we have added a new cockpit and fixed the issue with the re-spawning ship and character! Please check out the whole list of features below.

Major Features:
Gameplay
  • Docking is now possible at the UNN Midway Station. Approach the dock and press "z" to initate.
  • Asteroid mining is now possible, find several already plotted with a purple marker in the navigation hud. Default mining laser requires 100 meters operational distance. Simply approach the asteroid, click it and when the mining operation is done, you are able to loot its ore.
  • Re-Fueling ship is now possible. Open inventory by pressing "I" and clicking a fuel icon to re-fuel ship
Minor Features:
General
  • Steamworks integration & Achievements
Radio
  • Added station name and song name to radio
  • Small quality of life fixes to radio interface
UI
  • Escape now closes main menu if it was open.
New Gameplay Elements:
  • Mining asteroid (Remember to arm the weapons platform by selecting the mining laser icon in the skillbar)
  • Collecting loot
  • Re-fueling ship (Open inventory by pressing "I", and clicking the lightning bolt to re-fuel
Check out the new gameplay elements in the video below!

We're super excited to be sharing the journey with you as we develop the game and plan to do so every Friday from now on! Attention Pilots!

Our first Developer Diary of 2022 is here and it includes our first of two heavy bombers that are coming to FC2 – the mighty Gotha C.V. is up and flying! She’s a big bird that terrorized its enemies and foretold the future of heavy bombing in later conflicts. She’s a pusher design that is not so easy to fly, but in the right hands is an effective bomber. Load her up with your friends and multiplayer sorties become a whole new experience! We think you’ll like her and she’s coming soon to Flying Circus – Vol. II. The Handley-Page O/400 is also being worked on along with the Sopwith Triplane.

In Normandy news, we are developing some new and varied runway surfaces for our airfields and tweaking some existing ones. There were quite a few different types of surfaces used in this theater. Everything from asphalt to steel to wood chips mixed together with tar were utilized to build runways and taxiways. These pics are early WIP so may change before final, but we thought they are interesting to show you what’s in the works.

And we are also adding the British C9/B with 40mm Bofors to the BON vehicle collection. She’s looking nice.

We continue to push to finish BON and FC2 and so many things are being worked on at the moment. Several twin-engine planes, two collector tanks, two big maps (Normandy and Western Front) and new GUI features are in development along with some small, but welcome improvements like adjusting Navigation Lights to more realistic visibility. The new Fuel Systems modeling is also finally coming back to beta along with drop tanks for several 109s as a start. We’re also taking a look at some other FM related issues like propeller modeling where some old issues exist. We continue to research how to improve our sky even further, not to mention the continued implementation of Tactical Codes and Dynamic Visual Damage to all our airplanes. Career mode development for Normandy is also under way and Flying Circus Career work will begin just as soon the new map has enough of it ready. And I almost forgot, Alex has built a new Spit XIV Scripted Campaign for the Rhineland map called His Majesty's Griffons. It will be free to all who own both BOBP and BON and will be in the next update. So, 2022 is off to a very busy start and it will be a huge year for the Great Battles series!
Great Houses of Calderia - Firesquid Games
🔔 Ding ding ding 🔔

You, players, are important in the creation process of the game and we want to give you the opportunity to participate in the development of Great Houses of Calderia. A few months ago, you were able to vote for the names of the married couple characters. You chose the names Bast and Camilla. Then, we created a trailer including them.

If you missed it, here is the first trailer we made featuring these characters: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REWrEpqnsLo
Last week we opened a vote session for three other trailer protagonists: the Mistress of Coins, Camilla's mother, and the Duke. You had the possibility to vote in our Discord for these new characters' names. We decided to give 4 choices for each.
  • Mistress of coins: Taiel, Penelope, Ola, Amara
  • Camilla's Mother: Dedra, Petronilla, Letizia, Maria
  • The Duke: Jarlan, Maximilian, Cervel, Carlos
All of the names here were proposed by the community and have a special significance related to the characters' state of mind, job, or look.

And here are the results:

Amara is in the Igbo language, spoken in Nigeria and other parts of Africa, meaning “grace”.
Letizia is coming from the Latin name Laetitia, meaning "happiness" or "gaiety".
Maximillian is derived from the Latin Maximus meaning "the greatest".

Greetings!

Hope you all had a great holiday and came into the New Year safely. The first major announcement we have for 2022 is in relation to the Third-Party Integration which is part of our Roadmap this year.

Our very first Third-Party Developer team, Mercury Arts, will be releasing their Maleme map on January 26th as a part of their Chapter Mercury community chapter.

Chapter Mercury by Mercury Arts
Available January 26th

Chapter Mercury itself focuses on the Battle of Crete in June 1941. The first map, Maleme, pits the Fallschirmjäger of Gruppe West against the New Zealanders of the 2nd NZ Division, as they battle for control of a crucial airfield on the island. Additional maps and factions are planned for the chapter, with the Greek 5th Cretan Division, Australian 16th Infantry Brigade and eventually the Italian 50th Infantry Division, all still to come.

Mercury Arts has been working on bringing this exciting project to the Post Scriptum community for almost 2 years and soon it will be here in its first release. But that is not all that Mercury Arts has to bring for 2022. Below you can find their roadmap outlining their plans for the foreseeable future.

We will be covering their development going forward in future news posts, but if you are interested in following their development closer on a day-to-day or week-to-week basis, you can join the Chapter Mercury Discord here.

Mercury Arts Third-Party Announcement

As part of our plans outlined on our roadmap for 2022, Third-Party Integration is something we have been working towards since the initial release of the Post Scriptum SDK.

With a lot of work going into the feasibility of releasing and helping our modding community bring their content to the core game without the need for the workshop. This process is one that has been ongoing with plenty of challenges both logistically and legally.

The Chapter Mercury team recently rebranded as Mercury Arts under our recommendation in order to help brand them under a name that is sure to be a household name under the Third-Party agreement.

Mercury Arts has been instrumental in helping us set up the processes and procedures to introduce modded content into the game as a part of the main game installation, the biggest benefit to the players is the need to install a workshop mod prior to joining the server is removed as the content will always be available to our players.

For Mercury Arts, the addition to the Third-Party Program means that we can give them the tools and knowledge they need to bring their content to the Post Scriptum community and bring their content in line with the quality that players expect from us.

“We are hugely proud to release Maleme to you as the first Third Party team integrated into Post Scriptum. Releasing Maleme as Third Party Content means more players will be able to experience what we have produced, while we retain control over the direction of our project. We are grateful to the PG team for their support in this and hope it paves the way for other modders in future.” - “Katz”, Project Manager

Mercury Arts being Third-Party means that they will ensure that their content is updated and bugs are fixed, they will also be continuing the development of their content going forward under their own direction, but with the assistance and tools provided by Periscope Games. As such Periscope Games has very limited input into what Mercury Arts will be creating.

How do I become a Third-Party Developer?

The process to become a Third-Party Developer is one that we review and deal with on a case by case basis since every mod is different, we want to ensure that we give each mod the utmost care in how we review and decide upon the possibility to become Third-Party content.

In order to qualify as a Third-Party, we outline a couple of requirements for any potential developers.
All Developers must be over the age of 18. This is due to the Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) that is associated with being a Third-Party Developer.
You must own the right to use your content including in a commercial product. This means we may deny mods that fall under intellectual property, trademark & copyright protection.
Developers are responsible for updating and maintaining their own mod, we will provide the infrastructure and assistance in this.

Periscope Games ultimately reserves the right to deny and/or remove Third-Party Developers from the program, but Third-Party Developers will always own their own content and we will always remove Third-Party Developers’ content at their request or on removal.

Additionally Third-Party Content is not available in the SDK and as such, no content created by Third-Party Developers can be used by community modders via the Post Scriptum SDK unless specifically requested. Third-Party Content is also never sold by Periscope Games as a part of any deals or DLC content, Third-Party Developers always own the full rights to their content.

If you would like to inquire about becoming a Third-Party Developer, you can send an email to thirdparty@periscope-games.com and give us a pitch with what you would be interested in bringing to the game as part of the core game.
