Hello, we hope that youโ€™ve had a fantastic New Year and are all set to venture under the Dome in the company of your faithful companions. Today's issue will be short but very important.

Development update



We know we promised the patch in late December but unfortunately - due to technical reasons - we had to postpone the release until January. But this month we will definitely have new content waiting for you. The extra time of development allowed us to polish new locations and mechanics, as well as fix some bugs.

New locations and completely redesigned cars



One of the main changes of the patch will be the new locations; the Fallen Fortress and the Mysterious Caves. Here you will find new enemies, equipment, treasures and mysteries of the wastelands.

And you will be able to drive away with those riches on completely redesigned transport: you can repair or blow up any vehicle under the Dome and these repaired cars can be used as a personal vehicle. There will be a place to park them in each location.

Additional settings



Players with large monitors will appreciate the new contrast mode and the long-awaited ability to change the font size. You no longer have to strain your eyes to read any text again. Another change - which will please owners of gamepads - is that we fully adapted the interface and added support for hotkeys.

And weโ€™re always in the market to hear your suggestions to improve the game; weโ€™ll try to add what we can.

We're back with the first devlog in 2022 and some good progress, hoping to release alpha 9 for our gold supporters next week.

Plan your business hours ๐Ÿ•—
Based on user feedback, David#NaN and Jonas#1 have spent lots of time finishing a new UI for the business schedule.

Before, it was split into two screens: One for adjusting the business hours, and another one for setting up the employee shifts. Now it's all in one screen where you can easily set the business hours, add or remove work shifts and assign employees.

New business type: Office ๐Ÿ’ผ
Many of our gold supporters asked for office businesses - and finally, we've got there! Jonas#1 implemented the new building type for office space and everything required to use it.

Mr. Scott will be happy to provide you with everything needed to furnish your business. He opened up his office supply store next to the existing furniture store.

The first office business available to set up is a law firm, employing lawyers. We all know that making big money starts with a good lawyer suing all competitors out of business!

Jonas#2, assisted by Jonas#1, has implemented a new POI system. Finding your way should be more convenient now with those nice-looking icons. On Voogle Maps you'll additionally see a marker indicating your current position.

Rotate the camera as you please ๐Ÿ”„
One of the most frequent complaints was the camera rotation, which felt inverted to many players. Jonas#2 added a setting allowing you to choose your preferred style.

TMI! ๐Ÿท๏ธ
Currently, name labels are shown for every single item. This can look pretty chaotic at times, particularly when they overlap. Most of the information won't be needed anyways - I'm sure you recognize a mop even without a label.

In alpha 9, labels will only be displayed for relevant items - those containing additional information or buttons. Just in case you need all of them, you can still activate them temporarily by pressing <Alt>.

Are we in London, or where does all this fog come from? ๐ŸŒซ๏ธ
We didn't like the "world border" just showing an empty area, completely ruining the immersion in the game. That's why Jonas#2, assisted by 3d artist Paul, added buildings, roads, and the famous "fog of war". The city now seems to continue, simply keeping you back by roadblocks. No big city without road construction!

Now you can pack just everything! Eager to move into a new, bigger, more luxurious apartment? Stuff your bed, fridge, and everything else into a box - and off you go!
Besides, to make life easier for newbies, boxes placed on the floor can be picked up through left-click as well. Of course, right-click still works just as well but didn't seem to be very intuitive for new players.

  • Added: Load multiple prefab files. You can now select multiple .c3dp files in the file select window.
  • Added: Load multiple tileset images. You can now select multiple image files in the file select window.
  • Added: Move crosshair to mouse position relative to the invisible plane. Press Space+C to move.
  • Added: Select Edge Loop action. Located within the Edges sub-menu when you right-click the 3d scene while in Edit mode. You must have at least one edge already selected for it to select connected edges.
  • Added: An option for deselecting everything when clicking on nothing. Go to Edit > Settings > EditMode > Deselect when clicked nothing.
  • Added: "Combine Instances" action. This combines the selected instances into a single Object. It will also replace the instances in the scene with a new instance of the new object. The "Combine Instances (Object only)" action will simply create the new object without replacing any instances and won't add any new instances to the scene.
  • Added: Added flashing indicator when trying to move crosshair when grid rounding is set to 0.
  • Added: Apply UVs action now randomizes tiles if a Tile Palette is selected. Use Alt+Left Click in Draw mode to apply uvs to existing tiles. Eyedropping a tile with Alt+Right Click will deselect any selected Tile Palette.
  • Added: Apply random tiles to a selection of faces. The "Apply Tilebrush UVs to Faces" option in the Edit mode context-menu will choose from the selected Tile Palette.

  • Fixed: UV Unique On/Off tooltip wouldn't display correctly when starting application.
  • Fixed: When exporting .obj via right-clicking in the Scene panel, the .mtl file could contain spaces in its filename, which would cause issues when importing it. It now will replace spaces with _.
  • Fixed: Was able to inadvertently select edges behind Objects/Cameras.

After hanging around in beta for quite some time, the Italian localization is now available for everyone!

(Also not sure if I should to apologize for (deliciously) reducing Italian to ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ•. But forget Michelangelo, Galileo, Leonardo, and folks -- pizza is where it's at! Especially ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ• #teampineapple.)

Anyway, this patch is a smaller maintenance & fix patch with the usual bunch of improvement and tweaks. The performance (as in frames per second) should be up to 30% better as we've been optimizing the game and the engine for lower-end hardware. For other changes, see the full change list below.

- Italian localizations.
- Performance optimizations.
- Option for player indicator circles to tell co-op players apart more easily.
- Green dot indicator for gear you can afford to upgrade.

CHANGED
- UI tweaks.
- Allowing using larger windowed resolutions but hiding the window title bar and using thinner frames in those cases.
- Decal tweaks and sharper sources graphics.
- Player no longer receiving damage during cutscenes (prevents you from dying to poison puddle while you can't move).
- Launchpad tunnel doors are now always open if the player has finished the game.

FIXED
- Localization fixes.
- Player death position set properly for both of the players (using position for whoever dies the last).
- Acquiring map happens right after you leave the first link tower even if there are notifications queued.
- Showing built structures like turrets in the map before loading the actor type assets.
- Fixed quest items in "Hot Head" not returning to destructible when they should.
- Walking animation does not get stuck anymore during "Warm up the engine" main quest phase.
- Saving now works correctly when exiting the game while sitting on the campfire.
- Clicking special tool icon now correctly changes the special tool instead of the primary weapon.
- Mouse and gamepad controls now use the same minimum and maximum camera tilt values.
- Usual open world fixes to visual glitches and some objects.


Up Next

We're still working on releasing the game on pretty much all the meaningful platforms out there. The new content will be available after everyone gets the 1.0 version, so it may still take some time. The estimate for the first content update is still Q1 (this year).

We may or may not release another fix update before that. Basically it depends on if we're able to fix enough of those smaller things you've reported. There are lots of minor bug reports waiting, but we simply don't have the resources to fix every single one of them. For example we know that if you enter a tomb with all the slots filled with materials you can't drop (such as fuel cells or mana stuff), you're not able to pick up the tomb reward nor leave the tomb. You're stuck, so you have no choice than to restart the tomb, go and store your materials, and do the tomb again. Ideally there'd be a more elegant solution to this, but as this doesn't get you permanently stuck, it's fine for now.

How to better start the year than with a brand new Playtest version? We have been delaying this new version as we wanted to do a major update with polished content before collecting your thoughts about it, this new version includes:
  • the Red barrens (second world of the game) with new enemies / challenges
  • 5 new bosses to face (Virgo, Leo, Sagittarius, Lupus & Pegasus)
  • 3 new room types to discover
  • 2 new hub NPCs to meet with new progression systems
  • 10+ new Auras
  • 13 new spells to use
  • and plenty more...

You need to have the Playtest app unlocked on your Steam account, if you already have it the new version will update automatically, if you do not have it already:
  • Join our Discord Server and follow our Kickstarter Assistant instructions in the #kickstarter-rewards channel to get your backer Discord role.
  • React in the #playtests-register channel to get the Playtester role.
  • Welcome to the #playtests channel where you can ask for a key.
  • Use the key in Steam.


Can I keep my saves from previous Playtest?
Your last playtest saves will be saved if they were from 0.21.10 or more, if you lost your saves you can now press LB and RB while launching the game to skip the intro tutorial.

We have improved the game a lot thanks to your previous feedbacks so thank you if you take the time to answer it this time again. The second world of the game is now content complete, we have recently added new traps that will appear on the explorations room to make those rooms more dangerous and lively. We did not want to add traps at the beginning of the development but we love how it turned out.
You'll see that they also are tools to deal damages to your enemies.

We have also added new traps in the Fragmented Plains (first world), these elements only appear in the Exploration rooms to make them feel more unique and more rhythmed.

New unique auras - new gimmick effects
For some time, we felt that Auras lacked funny and gameplay-changing elements, we decided to work on this giving unique gimmicks to work with and create combo with other effects! There is plenty of new Auras to discover and new interesting combos between the Auras or between Auras and Gambits, we hope you'll like them as much as we do!

We have also added new content to the main hub: Two new NPCs have joined the cast!
The first one is a familiar face, Sieur Bapy from the Kickstarter stretch goals has finally arrived at the hub and will now keep track of your achievements and even giving you extra rewards to help you during your journey.

The second one is a mysterious and ancient being that everyone named Dragon for obvious reasons. You will now be able to get access to new auras to unlock during your next adventures!

World balancing changes and Salvage mechanic
One of the main changes we have made since the previous version is changing the structure of the runs:

  • Fight rooms will now exclusively give keys - merchants became much more important
  • Higher tier loots are rarer than before - collecting gambits became more interesting
  • Exploration rooms have been shortened - experience is more dynamic all around
Those changes implied a lot of changes on progression during runs and, if you try the new version, you will see that it's quite different from what we had before, all of your feedbacks regarding thoses changes are welcomed!
Among the progression changes, we decided to add a salvage mechanic to the game, giving you the possibility to salvage unwanted spells/gambits and tranform them into quartz to use in the next shop, you can also salvage Auras into difficulty stars.
It is now always exciting to find these rewards because if they are not fitting your current build you will still get currency to invest in something you need for your build at next merchant.

Welcome to our weekly Devblog!

tl;dr - as promised, the new, improved Prologue 2 is coming!

This time we would like to share with you some news about the changes that will be implemented in the free version of our game - Builders of Egypt: Prologue. We follow our social networks on a regular basis and often. We read all your comments and very carefully the reviews you give us after playing the current version of the Prologue and we have very good news for you!

A while back we promised to expand Prologue's content, and of course, our plan is still the same. Obviously, we're very focused on working on the final version and this is naturally our top priority right now, but we also want to interest new players and, above all, to inspire those who have already played!







The Prologue's relaunch will take place just before the base game's release. We don't have a specific date yet, but that time is getting closer and closer! What you are probably most interested in at the moment is the content - primarily the improved tutorial. We know many of you have had difficulties with errors in the tutorial - we saw a lot of that in our reviews ;) - and we apologize for that. The new version will certainly be more readable and without reported description bugs. We plan to add new content, which will not be accessible in Playtests and was not available in version 1, and to update the previous one as well.







After the premiere of the first Prologue, we've received a lot of feedback and it made us apply many user-friendly changes, gameplay solutions, and most important, players' ideas. We want version 2 to contribute to the improvement of the reviews and that everyone who felt that something was missing could rediscover the charms of Ancient Egypt once again. We also plan to announce in advance the exact missions with a short guide, especially for those for whom the first edition did not meet their expectations. We take very seriously every comment, no matter if it is positive or negative. We also value constructive criticism. With that being said, don't forget to check the news and our blogs.
