As part of the transition to a full release I've been looking into the achievements system and how I'm going to handle it going forward. Because of the 100 achievement limit on Steam I've had to change the way some of these were implemented.

Some achievements will be removed, while others will be slightly changed and range of new ones introduced. I know how annoying it is to have achievements updated or reset but I need to structure these correctly so going forward once the game is released there will be minimal changes.

Here's a summary of the changes

  • Achievements that tracked a specific resource (e.g amount of bread created) will be removed and replaced with achievements that represent a category e.g Collect 500 raw agricultural resources (wheat, millet, barley etc)
  • The achievements for specific scenarios will be addressed. Currently they refer to the number of the scenario e.g Beat the 1st Roman Scenario. I'm going to be changing the wording on these as i'll be adding new scenarios in-between other scenarios so having them numbered is problematic
  • Update achievements to put more focus on Gaul and African industries and goods
  • Create achievements for upcoming game modes (ensuring there's free space for new ones going forward)

While I'm doing all of this I'll be removing some of the debugging settings I've left in the game such as the ability to lock and unlock scenarios at will. Now that all of the scenarios are released and balanced you should no issue progressing through them.

I'll be resetting all the scenarios back to their locked state and then checking your achievements to determine which scenarios should be unlocked. This change is required to fix an underlying issues with the scenarios that's prevented me from adding in new scenarios in an existing campaign. Once all of these charges have been rolled out things will be in their final state.

Hopefully the next update will actually be the final game like I said it would be a few updates ago. However I wanted to get a good patch on some fixes first

Fixes : Tutorial doesn't force you to walk up to the book to read how to walk. It starts off telling you how to do so
Changed how the text box works on the inside, to hopefully limit bugs.
Made the light guardian blocking box bigger ( Just a small fix )
Gave the sapphire forest bandits a higher chance to drop Kenestrium ( Super rare and powerful material )
Moved the skip intro button so the Steam popup doesnt block it ( Although you could also just disable the intro in settings )

Changes :
No more skip text button! Now you gotta read >:D
Made the text scroll faster so not having a skip text button doesnt affect you as much
Clarified the umbranox dragon fight text stuff

Hey everyone! We've received some good bugs and feedback already, so here's a quick update with a few issues fixed and some new Encore ranks to try out! Please let us know what you're thinking of the new stuff using the in-game feedback report button or in our Discord.

To join the beta branch:
1. Right-click on the game in Steam and select Properties.
2. Select the BETAS tab and enter the password supersecretbetabranch
3. Select the beta branch from the dropdown.
4. It should update right away! You will know you’re on the beta build if you see a new version number in the lower right on the Roundguard title screen.
5. After you start the game up, if your save files don't copy over and you'd like to keep playing with your main game save progress, you can go to C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\LocalLow\Wonderbelly Games\Roundguard and copy/paste the files from the "saves" folder into the "beta" folder.

  • Added Encore Rank 5 and 6 to unlock! We're hoping they will really put your skills to the test. Let us know if they seem way too easy or way too hard. (Though they should be very hard!)

  • Fixed a soft lock if you save/load at the wrong moment during a certain Druid quest.
  • Fixed rare crash with logic for one of the new boss variants.
  • Fixed issue with the Druid's winter event costume.
  • Fixed some quests not triggering completion when they should.

## Changes in this version:

- Many bug fixes, with priority given to crashes.
- Slight adjustments to the scoring system, which produces different outcomes.
- New look/touch flavor texts in previously unfinished rooms.
- Tweaked some writing to better fit the story context.
- Opening theme plays without stuttering.
- Graphics/text/cursors no longer overlap on black backgrounds.

## What isn’t changed:

- Just about anything graphical, UI or otherwise asset-related. These changes would almost certainly break saves or create new bugs, so I’m holding off for this round of testing.

## Known Issues:

Gameplay:

- Various clipping and walk-behind issues, particularly in Winter. (But please keep reporting, if you haven’t seen it before!)
- Characters following Mara will not pass between Hotel and Simon’s House.
- Some music may still skip (please report if you encounter!)
- Hovering on walkable edges won’t always produce an arrow (please continue to report these where you find them!)
- Mara changes costumes while gardening.

UI:

- Money counter is difficult to read.
- Still able to walk while Save/Load UI is open.
- Maxing out Saved game slots doesn’t allow new saves, produces no warning.

Photo Lab:

- No way to reduce or cancel the timer.
- Items disappearing or duplicating after film has been developed.
