The holiday season is a time of surprises. And what holiday treats do fellow Commanders enjoy the most? Brand-new vehicles, of course! This year’s Large Boxes will feature three formidable Tier VIII Premium tanks, each with its own unique advantages, so you can find a cool tank that best fits your individual playstyle. These vehicles will be available for the first time in the game, and they can all be yours! Let’s take a look at each tank and its gameplay.

The M-IV-Y: A Versatile Brawler Featuring Unique Mechanics

This is a Premium representative of the brand-new Yoh branch in the American Tech Tree. If you missed the Developer Diaries announcement about the brand new Yoh mechanics, check it out here.

The M-IV-Y heavy tank is a classic front-line brawler with a well-armored turret and a comfortable, high-penetrating 105 mm gun with 360 HP of alpha damage. It also features short aiming time, low gun dispersion, and high accuracy.

Its hull resembles that of the T110E5, but its turret is something different—it’s oscillating, cylindrical, and features a protective "skirt" that’s not a screen! The turret’s armor is up to 279 mm thick in the frontal projection and 241 mm on the sides, so your opponents will have a hard time trying to penetrate it. The weak point is the commander’s cupola, which is rather large, but not easy to hit from a distance.

The M-IV-Y’s gun has great elevation and depression angles (–10/20 degrees), allowing it to take advantage of terrain irregularities on any map. Thanks to the short aiming time, you can roll out into a firing position, fire a shot, and quickly pop back into cover. While the enemy is aiming at your commander's cupola, you will already be back in position. Even if the opponent shoots, your tough turret will be able to block most of the shots.

The M-IV-Y is moderately maneuverable but has a good top forward (45 km/h) and backward (18 km/h) speed for a heavy. The armor penetration value of the M-IV-Y’s standard AP shell is 220 mm, while the penetration of the special APCR shell is 251 mm.

Finally, like other high-tier vehicles of the Yoh branch, this Premium features a unique mechanic, namely, a pair of smaller reserve tracks in addition to the main ones. If the main set of tracks is broken—one or even both—the vehicle won’t stop and can continue to move, but at a reduced speed. If you lose another track, the speed will be reduced further. But the tank can still turn or move forward or backward. To immobilize the M-IV-Y, you need to destroy at least one reserve track in addition to the main one.

Repairing tracks also has its nuances. The reserve track is repaired first. As soon as this is done, the repair of the main track begins. The vehicle can move at this point, but a penalty is added to the repair time. If the tank remains stationary, there will be no penalty. A Repair Kit will repair all tracks at once.

The Caliban: Large Caliber With an Unusual Autoreloader

This unusual British Tier VIII heavy tank features a 2-shell autoreloading system and a menacing 152.4 mm gun that fires HE shells as standard, dealing 850 HP of alpha damage with 180 mm of penetration. The Caliban’s special AP rounds cause less damage (600 HP) but have a higher penetration value (292 mm). However, the Caliban is primarily a tank for HE-based gameplay.

The reload time between shells is only 3.75 seconds, so this tank will be a real menace in close-range combat, no matter what shells you fire. But for big alpha, you have to pay with poor accuracy, and massive reloading and aiming times. When firing this gun, you’ll need to aim carefully and seize your moment to hit the opponent. But once you get used to this gun and catch the enemy at the right time, you'll be dealing maximum damage time and time again.

Considering its firepower characteristics, the Caliban performs best on the front line or from the second line of fire, trading HP at a high rate. Its gun depression reaches –10 degrees and can take full advantage of hilly terrain. The thickness of its frontal turret armor is up to 250 mm, but in battle, the Caliban is better off relying on its destructive firepower.

The tank has a top speed of 33 km/h, so you’ll be able to take key positions at the same time as other heavy tanks. This speed can be further improved with equipment to make the Caliban faster and more maneuverable.

The Bofors Tornvagn: The Viking With a Bulletproof Turret

This versatile Swedish heavy tank features a turret of an unusual design. It is narrow, rectangular, and has no vulnerable hatches. Its armor thickness in the frontal projection is up to 280 mm, so there’s almost no point in targeting it. Hitting this turret is not easy, and it’s even more difficult to penetrate, so don’t waste your time—try to flank the vehicle instead.

The Bofors Tornvagn is the epitome of classic heavy tank gameplay and has everything you need to succeed on the battlefield. It is armed with a 120 mm gun with 400 HP of alpha damage. Its standard APCR shell penetrates 248 mm, while the special APCR shell penetrates 297 mm! This is one of the best penetration values for the special round, giving you confidence in any situation on the battlefield.

In addition, the Bofors Tornvagn has a short aiming time, as well as great gun depression and elevation angles (–10/20 degrees). It will fight decently in the hills and on other irregular terrain—simply go hull down, expose your incredibly solid turret, and you will triumph in any duel.

Its forward speed is nothing special, but is easy to maintain. It has no obvious weaknesses and easily realizes its high combat potential thanks to its comfortable, well-balanced gun and decent armor. You can calmly make your way to the front line, fire a shot from the hills, and then pop back into cover to reload. This simple yet effective tactic will allow you to stay constantly in the heat of battle and terrorize your opponents.

      • Added Apartment Portal. The Client has generously provided you with a piece of tech that will allow you to return to your apartment at a fixed point in time so you can hoard loot. The apartment will gain additional features as development continues.

      Key Changes
      • Items that are new to your inventory are now highlighted until inspected.
      • Weapon sets are now stored in the player menu and are no longer returned to the inventory when swapping sets.
      • Dodge now gives you (and enemies) a chance that incoming ranged attacks will only graze, reducing damage taken. Dodge Reduction reduces graze chance.
      • When using a ranged weapon, the range to the target is now displayed on the tooltip as Close, Medium, or Long range. If your weapons have a modifier for that range, it is also displayed.
      • Special ammo, grenades, and mines now increase in power with your level and have updated tooltips. Older versions of these items will automatically convert to the new type, but may retain older naming conventions (eg. Mk III) until combined with a new version.
      • Chems now scale with player level, have improved effects and tooltips.
      • The map menu now has both UI movement buttons and hotkeys. Thanks Ninjab33z!
      • Vendors now have a separate tab for item Buy Back and have decided to allow you to move inventory items & add them to the action bar while interacting with a vendor. Vendors will keep items sold to them for a while before disposing of them.
      • Unbroken doors that have been opened and can be closed again now highlight the cursor when mousing over their frame.
      • Some enemies will now attempt to avoid hazards they can see, depending on their type, intelligence, and general bravado.
      • Removed hidden hotkey for Feedback tool. Feedback can be accessed from the System Menu at any time.
      • Removed Energy damage dealing x2 damage to Shields. Currently, no enemies have Shields, so this would only disadvantage players.
      • Cleaned up the apartment (you might have friends coming over) and tidied up the tutorial.
      • Pet Slime now logs stat gains from Xenobiologist ooze jars.

      Key Fixes
      • Fixed map & flashlight hotkey being active during an event.
      • Fixed Slime Phials appearing as dice when in inventory.
      • Fixed an issue with Wrangler armor meshes not disappearing when collected.
      • Fixed an issue allowing enemies to attempt to hide inside of bonus contract crates.
      • Fixed an issue with abilities that target items (Mod It Better, Integrate, Reaper Rounds, etc) from locking interaction with the item if the player cancels the ability use.
      • Fixed an issue causing camera traps to highlight the cursor incorrectly even though out of range to interact. A future update will allow “disarming” of camera traps with a ranged weapon.
      • Fixed Loot Hunter Lucky Find causing container items with locked rarities (such as Ammo) to change their rarity incorrectly.
      • Fixed an issue with items dropping from Maglock safes to be disconnected from the map.
      • Fixed UI scaling truncating presets on character creation menu.
      • Fixed an issue where keypad nums would fail when used as hotkeys.
      • Fixed skill tier previews failing to show ability cooldowns.
      • Mobs that are stunned / unaware when attacked should no longer forget to draw their weapons before entering combat.

      Known Issues
      • Bonus Contracts Crates may now always clean up their minimap markers on contract completion. They will clear after a save is loaded.
      • Pets catching up to player may teleport into occupied spaces.

      As it was announced at the beginning of the week — today we will tell you about the planned balance changes and give you the opportunity to test them on a special test server.

      We remind you that all the new features described in the “Developer blog” are not final and may be changed before they are introduced into the game or may not be implemented into the game at all. You can familiarize yourself with all the planned changes in detail on the special test server!

      General

      All automatic shotguns
      • Now the sight of any automatic shotgun shows the current spread of the weapon.
      • Changed the format of the pellet spread from square to rectangular (now it corresponds to the scope).
      • Now turning the weapon doesn’t increase the spread.
      • The maximum firing range has been reduced from 100 to 60 m.
      Developer comment: With these changes, we would like to improve the experience when playing with shotguns. The dynamic sight will allow you to control the spread and target vulnerable parts of enemies, and the lack of spread from the weapon’s rotation will encourage manoeuvrable close combat.
      On the other hand, the maximum firing range of shotguns has been significantly decreased. Now shotguns no longer compete with weapons designed for medium range firing, and this corresponds to their initial role.

      All melee weapons
      • The damage zone is now displayed in the assembly mode.
      • You can no longer mount other parts in the area that deals damage. Crossing the area with other parts is also not allowed.
      Developer comment: This change is intended to affect builds with Borers, which took advantage of the game not taking damage area into account when checking the possibility of mounting parts.
      With the display of the damage zone, it will be easier for skilled builders to calculate the armour and ramp of their vehicle in order to maximize the potential of their melee weapons.
      We will monitor the performance of melee weapons and improve their parameters in case their efficiency will significantly decrease.


      All cabins

      Reduced the time before the car flips without using a car jack from 30 to 20 sec.

      Developer comment: The change should reduce the fatality of the overturned vehicles in some cases.
      In the future, we plan to consider different options for redesigning the car jack in order to make it more useful for different assemblies.

      Special rarity

      Revolver “Emily”
      • Projectile explosion radius increased by 7%.
      • Projectile speed increased by 33%.
      Developer comment: this revolver was a weapon that was quite difficult to use at medium range. Now its projectiles will fly faster, and the slightly increased explosion radius will allow you to “graze” the opponents a little more often with an indirect hit.

      Rocket launcher “Pyralid”
      • Perk bonus increased from 12% to 15%.
      • Perk duration increased from 5 sec. to 8 sec.
      Developer comment: “Pyralid” was a rather weak weapon. The following changes will simplify the use of the weapon’s perk and increase its efficiency.

      Automatic cannon “Median”

      Projectile speed increased by 17%.

      Nailgun “Summator”

      As the shot is charged, the weapon’s rotation speed increases.

      Developer comment: The change is intended to facilitate agile close-range combat while using “Summator” in charged shot mode.

      Explosive “Boom”

      Explosion radius reduced by 10%.

      Developer comment: Reduced explosion radius will reduce the extremely high efficiency of this weapon.

      Epic parts

      Cannon “Elephant”

      Perk’s effect duration increased from 3 sec. to 4 sec.

      Developer comment: Now, with skillful shooting and a properly assembled armoured car, the owners of “Elephant” will be able to constantly use its perk.

      Drone “Yaoguai”
      • Module durability increased from 173 pts. to 223 pts.
      • The length of the first drone burst when attacking is always equal to the duration of the perk.
      • Drone activation and targeting times have been significantly reduced.
      Developer comment: these changes will simplify the game using the drone’s perk and increase its overall efficiency.

      Grenade launcher “Thresher”
      • Projectile speed increased by 33%.
      • Maximum spread is reduced by 17%.
      Developer comment: similarly to “Emily”, “Thresher” is quite difficult to use at medium range. Reduced spread and faster projectiles will facilitate this process.

      Plasma gun “Quasar”

      The cannon reloads for 0.5 sec. faster (5 sec. instead of 5.5 sec.).

      Developer comment: We think that many players will agree that in a direct firefight, even a split second can decide the outcome of the confrontation. A slight increase in the reload speed will allow the owners of “Quasar” to keep up with owners of other weapons with long reloading times.

      Nail gun “Argument”
      • Damage increased by 8%.
      • As the shot is charged, the weapon’s rotation speed increases.
      Developer comment: the situation with “Argument” is almost similar to the one with “Summator”. These changes will make agile melee combat easier, and slightly increased damage will allow it to be more competitive against other epic parts.

      Cabin “Favourite”

      The cabin’s perk still prevents the heating of mounted weapons and modules, but now the duration of the heating stop depends on the minimum heating time among all weapons mounted on the vehicle. The longer the minimum heating time, the longer the bonus lasts.

      Developer comment: It’s no secret that “Favourite” was often used as a cabin for shotguns. We agree that it should be more versatile. Changing the mechanics of this perk will expand the list of weapons that can be effectively used in conjunction with this cabin.

      Legendary parts

      Autocannon “AC80 Stillwind”

      Perk duration increased from 2 sec. to 3 sec.

      Developer comment: slightly increased duration of the bonus will allow you to deal more damage while being invisible, or provide more time for tactical maneuvers.

      Howitzer “Mandrake”

      The weapon drains 1 pts. less energy.

      Developer comment: unfortunately, “Mandrake’s” already underwhelming efficiency has suffered even more since the introduction of reload acceleration modules. The high energy consumption of the weapon made it impossible to assemble an effective vehicle with the howitzer. Reducing energy consumption will not only allow to combine the weapons, but also make it possible to create an assembly based on a heavy cabin with 2 howitzers.

      Cabin “Machinist”

      Now the bonus to the weapon’s durability doesn’t depend on the current vehicle’s durability. It is now determined once (at the beginning of the battle) and no longer changes.

      Shotgun “Parser”
      • Reload time increased from 2 sec. to 2.6 sec.
      • Maximum range decreased by 25%.
      • Optimal firing range reduced by 20%.
      Developer comment: “Parser” is an extremely powerful weapon. We have tried to reduce its efficiency and, if possible, preserve its uniqueness. As noted by many, its firing range was too great for a shotgun (albeit a versatile one), so it became the main focus of the changes.

      Separately, we would like to note that work on a new unique feature of the “Breaker” shotgun is also in progress, but the change is not yet ready and will not be presented on the test server or with the next update. It’s possible that the information will appear within a month after the update, and we will be sure to inform you about it.

      How to get to the test server?

      If you have already participated in testing on a special server, then it will be enough to start the Launcher from the folder with the test client and wait for the update to complete.
      • Create a new folder for the game on your hard drive.
      • Download the Launcher from this link. The file name should not contain numbers indicating that the file is a duplicate. Please note that you should launch the file that does not contain any digits (1), (2), etc. in its name. If, when starting the installed launcher, you get to the live game servers, you need to delete all downloaded launchers from the download folder and try again.
      • Start the Launcher and install the game to the folder you created (for example: D:\Public test\Crossout).
      • After the installation is complete, start the Launcher and enter the game with your username and password.
      • The whole progress of your main account will be transferred to the main server (including parts in storage and levels of reputation in factions).
      • After logging into the server, to transfer progress from your account, press the “Esc” key and select “Copy account data”.
