Many things have changed in KartRider: Drift since the second Closed Beta back in June of 2020. For this Dev Blog, we’re talking about two of the most important improvements, the tutorial for first-time Racers and License Mode missions where you can improve your racing skills.
Get a Head Start with the Tutorial
The new and improved tutorial helps you find your wheels by teaching you how to play and introducing you to the basic driving controls through more natural gameplay with the aid of a new friend for our beginning players, Joy! You'll be able to experience the new tutorial during Closed Beta 3, starting on Wednesday, December 8!
Grow Your Skills with License Mode
While the tutorial gives you the basics of KartRider: Drift's mechanics, if you want to get better, you'll need to test and improve your skills through the new License Mode missions!
Undertake various missions to increase your understanding of KartRider: Drift through diverse situations. As you complete the missions, you'll improve your driving and drifting skills. And unlike the tutorial, this isn't a one-and-done deal: License Mode missions give objectives for repeated practice to help you continue to develop your racing abilities!
Experience the new License Mode missions on Wednesday, December 8 during Closed Beta 3!
Make sure you sign up for Closed Beta 3 now so that you don't miss out on the fun week of racing ahead! This is your chance to compete with Racers from all over the world. The Closed Beta begins on Wednesday, December 8 at 4:00 PM PST! We’ll see you there!
Update for November! Controller support has been added (XBOX360 only for now). We're planning to add support for DualShock 4 and XBOXONE in December. Controls: Left Stick Move Left shoulder Switch slots (to switch between selected items in inventory, etc.). Button above the left trigger Moves the viewpoint forward. Right stick Viewpoint control Right button up Strong attack Right button left Weak attack Right button down Cancel (used when menu is open) Right button Right button Right button Right button Right button Right button Right button Right button Right button Right button Right button Right button Right button Right trigger down Switch main menu START button Opens the menu. BACK button Toggles the information in the item details window in the inventory. Some operations are not yet implemented. The first start screen and so on do not work.
Enemies will now drop items. You can now change your appearance (skin). There is an NPC in the city square that allows you to change your skin. The UI for changing the skin is a little bad, so we'll change it soon.
Armor has been implemented. You can equip it by going to Menu -> Items and putting the item in the left column.
The city has been expanded. Added a fashion area and a tavern. There's nothing there now, but we'll add more stuff later.
The festive season is upon us and we’re starting off with a few things we think you’ll enjoy.
Starting tomorrow Wednesday December 1 and until Wednesday December 8, around 1pm ET (18:00 UTC), all Dabo spins will be 50% off!
Next, we’re celebrating the return of Star Trek:Discovery with a free crew giveaway of the brand new Resistance Burnham 5* (as seen in season 3), and a month-long Objective Event that will allow you to obtain three additional copies!
The free giveaway pack and the Objective Event will be available starting tomorrow, December 1 at 12am ET (5:00 UTC). You’ll have until Thursday, December 30 at 12am ET (5:00 UTC) to complete the Discovery Objective Event, and until Tuesday, January 4 at noon ET (17:00 UTC) to claim the free pack!
Don’t forget that our December mega-event starts this Thursday, and keep an eye out for a special communique coming next week, as we’ll have a special assignment for you: choosing our 6th anniversary crew giveaway.. Stay tuned!
With this week’s server release we’ve also made the following change: Ancient Humanoid: addition of the “cultural figure” trait.
Just a quick update today, a few small bugfixes and adjustments are in this update but the main addition is an upgrade to Monster Modding.
Wow I couldn't believe how many talented artists jumped on our monster modding update. These players created real, full monsters with the custom crossbreeding mechanics you already know and gave them a fresh, totally new sprite. They've been adding them to our pedigree gallery as well, so anyone can grab them using a pedigree code (as long as you turn modding on).
I had to drop everything and add full crossbreed support for all these excellent artists!
If you're already a modder or would like to dive in yourself, grab this image and edit it in your favorite image editor to a design you like. The Red means the lighter color of the palette goes there, the Blue means the darker
credit to Ahab's Artwork for this sweet alternate Dracoyle sprite, which is available on the gallery as well.
Once you've created the sprite, you can use this site to set a new base monster sprite OR, with today's update, add a whole crossbreed family! One for each type of crossbreed to make your monsters feel more authentic than ever :)
MASSIVE thanks to Modulo on discord for sprucing up the tool and helping me to add this functionality. Without him this would've taken much longer, and probably still not have looked as nice :)
Once you've received the code, copy it and go back to Monster Crown, on the party screen hit F11 and you're cooking, just like Sunday's update.
Thank you so much for all of your passion and creativity this week, I'm in awe, but it's something you guys have made a common thing for me.
New World Update 1.1.1 will release at 11pm PT (7am UTC) on November 30.
Greetings Adventurers!
This week’s update is focused on resolving some of the issues that have arisen from our November Update. Our development team is continually working on improving the New World experience and they thank you all for your patience and reports that you continue to make on the official forums. A full list of changes and fixes can be found below.
Motes from Elemental enemies:
Fixed an issue causing a large number of motes to drop from elemental enemies. We also removed elemental motes as rewards from gathering elemental creatures and reduced the amount of other resources acquired from them to account for the number of them in the world and the frequency at which they respawn. The original intention with these creatures was to make them challenging and infrequent encounters in the world. The way we used them in practice resulted in them becoming less dangerous and more frequent which caused an imbalance with the amount of resources they provided, compared to the primary sources such as elemental plants and stones.
MISSING HORTICULTURE GEAR In our latest update, we made a mistake that treated all tiers of the in-game Horticulture harvesting gear as future content, and unintentionally removed them from the game. We apologize for this bug that has caused you to lose some items you rightfully earned. If you have lost an acquired piece of Harvester Armor you should have an extra Rewards Chest in your Inventory after this update.
These reward chests contain a full set of Horticulturist armor provided at the highest Tier you personally have acquired in the past for any piece of the Harvester set. They are also rolling at the maximum Gear Score for that tier, and will be useable at any level to ensure you can equip them. These items are marked as Bind on Equip like any Harvester armor piece you would encounter normally. Once you open the chest it will provide you 5 items:
Harvester Hat
Harvester Shirt
Harvester Gloves
Harvester Pants
Harvester Shoes
HOUSING Re-enabled trading, moving, and salvaging of furnishings/housing items
CRAFTING Fixed a bug where Jewel crafting recipes were not granting enough trade skill XP Recently we lowered the amount of trade skill XP provided by lower tiered items when a player reaches a new tier of crafting bases per skill. To use metal as an example, when a player unlocks Steel recipes they earn less from crafting iron recipes. We did this to emphasize crafting higher tiered items as you progress through trade skills and to also improve the value of higher tiered materials. Our intention behind this change is to reward players for crafting higher tiered items as they progress through the ranks of each trade skill. Before this change, we found players were spending too much time crafting low tier items as opposed to pushing their crafting skill up crafting items that they may actually use at their current level.
TRADING Fixed an issue where players were not able to fill Buy Orders from local Storage Sheds
SERVERS
Technical groundwork for server merges
War performance enhancements
GENERAL BUG FIXES
Void Gauntlet - Fix to Oblivion not going onto cooldown if player swapped weapons during skill startup
Void Gauntlet - Fix to consumable status effects being cleansed by Oblivion
Fixed an issue that was causing Jewelcrafting to not award appropriate amounts of XP for higher-tier crafts
Fixed an issue preventing players from earning the Lumberjack achievement
Thanks for your support! We'll see you in Aeternum.
