It's been a while since I released any news, hasn't it? I said a while back that I was working on a second game, and that was several months ago. I've been working on it on and off from season to season. In truth I have been very busy doing some personal work, so it slowed development a little bit... but I'm still working on it. I don't want to make an official announcement until it's ready.

I also don't want to give out any details because nothing is set in stone during development (I could tell you the game features X and Y and then later decide to remove those features, which would be pretty unfortunate). That being said, you can probably expect the game to use the same battle engine as Magellania, but take place in a completely unrelated setting. This will also be the last time (in a while) I make a turn-based tactics game. If and when I get to the third game, it will be a different genre, but I don't want to get too far ahead of myself here. Just know that I haven't stopped working on the game and you'll probably see an announcement sometime in the future.

Most important update highlights:



Bug fixes:


  • Drone View Support system overhaul, addressing issues with supports not arriving for some players.

  • Units getting stuck. This issue was caused by multiple faults in the code. Our team has resolved a number of these causes, however we are still continuing to fully solve this problem.

  • Multiple bugs within game saving system causing various issues like units being transported to the corner of the map.


New content:


  • Taliban static DShk and mortar units.

  • Suicide cars and suicide bombers.

  • New VFX effects for all explosions.

  • New missions across all sectors.



Improvements:


  • Mission rewards rebalanced.

  • Penalties for collateral damage now have higher negative impact.

  • UI color improvements for clarity of gameplay.

  • Zoom mechanics in drone view have been expanded.

  • Daylight and fog settings improvements.

  • Some background and intro changes.

Hi Folks!



As a follow on from the last update of myself moving house, progress on Hellscreen has been a little slow, particularly as my new internet has had some teething problems (grrrrrrrrr!)




The old place (and one-third of everything I had to move!)



The FIRST thing you set up when you move is the sound system and the retro games to display.




I also managed to go to the Brighton Develop conference where I met some cool game dev folks. It wasn't my first develop but it also leaves me feeling buzzed!
Safe to say, after the last few weeks, I am exhausted but super keen to get back into HS development which brings me neatly onto the latest prop I have prototyped.

I bashed out a spiked wrecking ball quite quickly (no texture work yet!).
These will cause damage to the player as well as enemies and can be shot to get moving (if you have the right weapon!).
