Defold - Subsoap
The Defold Foundation and Yandex.Games is hereby inviting Defold developers across the world to join a month long game jam. Developers will be challenged to create a themed web game showing their creative and developer skills as well as a good integration with the Yandex.Games SDK. The proud winner and runner-ups will receive marketing and advertisement for their submitted game, hardware, swag and bragging rights!

Changes:
- Improved NPC roaming code so it is much less demanding for the CPU
- Windowed mode is not borderless anymore
- Gun pickup not so bright anymore, which made the entire screen glitch for some people
- Fixed problem with gold nugget puzzle when you try to steal them
- Broken glass can now be shattered with giant steel balls
- Fixed getting stuck behind red kings house
- Fixed getting into Blue ville too soon with a complicated hack
- Changed appearance of closed pipes in Crash DLC where you can attach a purple pipe but people didn't realise they could
- Serbian Translation updated
- Optimised "sea of skulls" spawning procedure to maybe reduce crash likeliness for the rare ones affected
- Added SixInchesUnder reference to wheelie temple in Crash DLC
- Fixed other small details


Six Inches Under Supraland is in extensive testing by our crowdfunding backers and doing well. Expect the release in mid january! We would have released in late december, but releasing during a xmas sale is a very bad idea because you get zero visibility in the store.

The first of two updates we're releasing in November is now live. Patch notes and some extra detail below:
  • New Game + mode (Random extra enemies and enemy respawns)

NEW GAME+
Completing Campaign mode now unlocks New Game + on the Main Menu. As well as keeping you on your toes by remixing enemy placement, NG+ gives you the chance to play through Campaign with any unlocked Mutators switched on, and lets you choose which arm cannon you want to equip.



NEW GRAVITY GUN ARM CANNON
Unlocked by completing 10 Firefight challenges, this new arm cannon lets you pick up, hold, and throw a variety of objects, enabling even more opportunities for gameplay experimentation. For example, you can grab and hold enemy shields to provide on-the-fly cover, and you can pluck rockets mid-air and reverse their trajectory for an explosive sucker punch, like so:



NEW ACHIEVEMENTS
There are 13 new achievements to grab, which doubles the overall total to 26. The full list can be found on the Achievements page, but here are a couple of the new ones to give you a taster of what to expect:

FIRE IN THE HOLE: Beat the 'Greens' campaign level with the 'Floor Is Lava' mutator
OFF THE HINGES: Beat the 'Corridor' campaign level while equipped with the 'Gravity Gun' arm cannon

AND THERE'S MORE TO COME
There's a second update coming later this month and, as previously mentioned, there will also be updates next year, which will include new and extended Campaign levels. We'll have more info closer to the time. For now, have fun with New Game + and getting acquainted with the Gravity Gun!

When we think of an RPG we often think of a fantasy setting with dragons, elves, magic swords and trolls. However there is a huge amount of titles that opt to be set not in fantasy but in sci-fi settings; with technology, dystopias, space, spaces that feel contemporary, inhospitable planets or a setting that re recognise some and yet other aspects of fantastical. This panel explores the attraction of the sci-fi (or non-fantasy) setting for RPGs and how it approaches world-building.

GAMES & PLATFORMS IMPACTED
OBJECTIVES
  • Routine server updates and maintenance.
DETAILS
This coming Wednesday, November 10th, the platform team will be taking the multiplayer servers down for regular maintenance. Please note:

  • Ranked matchmaking will disabled exactly one hour before the maintenance window to prevent disruption to newly-formed matches.

  • Any matches still in progress at the start of the maintenance window will be disrupted when it begins.

  • DURING THE MAINTENANCE WINDOW, YOU WILL STILL BE ABLE TO LAUNCH THE GAME, BUT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MATCHMAKE OR ACCESS ANY ONLINE FEATURES.
To prevent any interruptions, we recommend wrapping up any games at least 10 minutes before the maintenance window. The downtime is expected to last 1 to 2 hours. You can watch this thread with any changes to the schedule as they arise, as well as the all-clear when the maintenance is complete.
