Happy Halloweeeeeeen! Today is the day we’re getting (extra) dressed up, eating lots of tasty treats, and updating you all on our Spirit Swap progress!
Happy Halloween!
If you haven’t checked out our Twitter lately, today’s the day! Benny crafted this INCREDIBLE Halloween snapshot of our faves out and about on All Hallow’s Eve. Can you name all the costumes? (Psst! Check out our Twitter if you wanna check your answers!)
Mo’s living in luxury
In addition to making sure our cast of cuties looks amazing, we’re also working on the places they like to hang out the most! Mo does not underestimate the power of making a space your own, and her living room encompasses her love of nature and luxury. Minimalism is NOT a part of their vocabulary~
Here’s your first peek at Mo’s living room, courtesy of artist, Jenny M! What do you think?
Double double… we’ve got ANOTHER First Look!
Last month, we showed off Pookie’s narrative sprite: the image you’ll see as you’re bonding and getting to know them. This month? They’re getting ready to move, groove, and swap spirits, as we’re almost done layering their animated sprite! Sam, our artist, drew both Pookie and their familiar, an African Grey Parrot named Douglass, and Dice did the layering! Next up? Khei will animate!
Talk soon!
Whether you’re staying home or hanging with friends while celebrating Halloween (or maybe it’s just another Sunday for you!) We hope you’re all staying safe and cozy!
As always, we’d love to stay in touch! Be sure to follow us on Twitter if you haven’t already, or hop into our Discord! Talk soon!
It’s that time of year again, the spookiest and ghouliest of months - October 🎃
Here at 505 Games, we love October, the crisp leaves, the warm sweaters - the PSL! ☕ - but more importantly, we love playing spooky games and we know you do too!
So, to celebrate the month of the ghost, we wanted to share your favorite screenshots starring our Young Prince of Midra using Photo Mode - and YOU DELIVERED!
Before we get started, I wanted to share a quick reminder about how Photo Mode works in Rogue Spirit;
Photo Mode is an additional feature that is being worked on as part of Early Access.
To enter Photo Mode, when in-game press the ‘O’ key on your keyboard. You will then be able to move the camera freely and apply effects and filters.
If you wish to hide the hud, press the ‘H’ key.
When you’re ready to take your shot, press F12 (this is the same for any game in Steam).
And to see all your screenshots, in Steam head to View > Screenshots.
Thank you to everyone who submitted their screens to us via Social Media, Discord and through the Steam Community Portal. We loved going through them this month and seeing your creativity - here are some of our favourites.

#VirtualPhotography indeed!!
These are fantastic. Please don’t stop sending your Photo Mode shots our way. Remember to use the #RogueSpirit when posting to make sure we see them.
Also, don't forget to tell us about your experiences with Rogue Spirit - as we're in Early Access we want as much feedback from the community as possible so that we can shape the game you want to play!
Hi everyone! Here’s what I’ve been working for The Ranch of Rivershine in October! :)
Meadow Trail Map
I’ve started working on the first trail map, the Lupine Meadow Path! Trail maps will be a core feature in The Ranch of Rivershine. Up to five trail maps can be unlocked and upgraded throughout the game, and each will be unique in their own way, including different environments and an original music track for each map!
You’ll be able to explore the trail and practice cross country with your horse as you’ll encounter natural obstacles. Forageable items such as wheat, oat, corn and hay can be found and gathered to feed your horses. If you’re lucky, you might even find a wild horse wandering around!
Horse Feed
When your horse is in the stables, you’ll be able to do different care activities, such as brushing & feeding your horse. These activities increase your horse’s statistics such as their health and cleanliness.
You’ll be able to feed your horse hay, grains and a snack every day. Multiple feed options will be available, as long as you have it in stock! You’ll be able to get feed either by gathering it in the wild, growing it in your fields or purchasing it in town. Be sure not to forget to feed your horse, or it might fall ill!
Stall Mucking
To keep your horses healthy, you’ll also have to keep their stall clean and add bedding to make it extra comfy! You’ll be able to avoid mucking stalls by leaving your horses to sleep in the pasture overnight, however, they’ll also be left with a lower energy level the following day.
New Coats
Multiple coat patterns will be available in the game, such as appaloosa, splash and tobiano! I’ll be adding more patterns and colors over time. This month, I made three variations of the frame overo pattern and six new face markings!
English Tack
I’ve also added an english saddle and saddle pad so you’ll be able to change up the looks of your horse’s equipment!
I’ll be taking a break in November from working on The Ranch of Rivershine to begin a small side project. I’ll be coming back to developing Rivershine and sharing more updates very soon though! Thank you :)
PumpkinHeads are back! Give battle to evil spirits on a new map! New map:
New weapons: Railgun is the ultimate destruction machine, capable of destroying almost anything it hits
Rakethenwerfer - multi-barreled grenade launcher, 4 barrels and 8 charges, what could be better
New enemies: Crawlers are a fairly slow, but extremely tenacious enemy Runners are the fastest pumpkinhead, but they pay for their speed with low health
Quick hotfix for some feedback received on the machine gun update.
Fixed camera jittering in First Person Mode w. Soviet Army troops (Thank you Redemption for identifying this and reporting it)
Possible fix for "ghost machine guns" - mounted machine guns could occasionally continue firing after the soldier manning it was killed. As spooky as this was, it was in fact, not meant to be part of this Halloween update & was unintentional. (Thanks to Just Mob for identifying this and reporting it)
Made mounted machine guns twice as accurate as they were initially
Made swivel speed of mounted machine guns twice as fast (up to 60 degrees/second from 30 degrees/second)
Adjusted placements of mounted machine guns on a few maps
Adjusted camera placement in first person mode of mounted DP28 to align the front sight closer to the center of the screen
Small adjustment to AI bot behavior which reduces the frequency they throw grenades before shooting at you when both options are considered valid by their script.
Feel free to post further feedback here or on the #bug-report channel on our Discord.
The air is calm. The moon is bright. Just another day of farming for loot in the Dark World.
Yet there’s a rumbling from within the Haunted Halls. The great skeleton Pallas has sent for you… But why? Perhaps he means to parley; an offer from the giant God himself, a Titanic Accord.
[MINI-TRAILER VIDEO]
Wield the magnificent Blade of the Fallen God and take its terrible titanic strength for your own.
I'm very glad to have the opportunity to work with them, and am looking forward to sharing some of the game's music in the coming months.
Release Structure Revision
There have been some minor revisions to the game's roadmap proposed in earlier developer's logs.
Early Access
Some "bad" news: After a lot of thought, I have opted out of releasing Chapter 1 as Early Access first. Some of you may have already noticed the Steam page has been changed to reflect this.
The biggest reason for this decision is that early access doesn't really fit the episodic structure of the game. The game is already being split into 3 parts, so splitting the first chapter further would create more challenges.
That said, the timing of the free demo and the first chapter remain largely unchanged, and player feedback will always be considered. The Demo and Chapter 1's reception will be reflected in Chapter 2 and 3's release.
Free Demo Timing
The free demo is still planned to release in December, but we are falling behind schedule just a little bit. There may be beta testing available for the demo in November, so look out for any announcements for this on the Official Twitter or in the Discord Server.
Chapter 1's Release
I have updated the Steam page to reflect the game's episodic nature and can say with certainty that Chapter 1 will release in 2022. As it stands, I am currently shooting for Q1, sometime between March and May 2022. As always, these things are subject to change (making a video game by yourself is hard!), and I won't be formally announcing a release date until that aspect is certain.
Demo Progress
Minus a few setbacks, progress on the demo has gone exceedingly well this month. We're finally in the content creation stage! I usually go into detail in these sections, but I think just sharing some visuals will really illustrate the idea.
Introduction and Tutorial
The introduction cutscene and tutorials are just about done.
At the start of the game, you're free to explore and learn the game's systems with optional tutorials. And, occasionally, you might get some assistance...
Mordin Swamp
Mordin Swamp turned out to be a pretty large area, with several maps and plenty of explorable areas. It's coming along well!
First Dungeon
The first dungeon is also complete, now with ambience, puzzles, and enemies.
Like the other areas, Azel will offer some gentle assistance, only if the player prompts him to.
And that’s all until next month. Thank you for your continued support and patience as the game continues to be developed.
Thank you for being a part of the Glades development. I have had some fantastic feedback already and have begun tweaking and fixing any issues found so far.
HOTFIX
* Broken Tools not removing themselves from players inventory when destroyed has now been fixed. * Axe durability has now been increased.
