Wow, our new blog proved to be rather popular indeed! We had an incredible number of questions, for which we thank you all for taking the time to submit. We hope you enjoy our responses, of which can be found on the Studio 397 website, link below:
On October 28th the free update Grudge Marks will be available on all platforms together with Geheimnisnacht. Besides the new content, we have also added some Quality of Life changes, and in this dev blog you can read all about the upcoming changes.
ENHANCED TAB MENU
The TAB menu has gotten a make-over. The new features will show the equipped equipment of all the players and a new, more condensed layout, makes it easier to see any incoming enemies even when viewing the TAB overlay. The new overlay also shows active modifiers for the mission in progress and maintains the original functionality you’re accustomed to, such as muting players or being able to click through to their community profile on Steam.
STEAM RICH PRESENCE
Steam Rich Presence has been added to Vermintide 2! You can now easily spot if your fellow ratsmashers need another hero to fight alongside them, what difficulty they are playing, and which mission.
OPENING MULTIPLE CHESTS AT ONCE
This hardly requires much of an introduction: in the next update players will be able to open multiple chests at once! It’s possible to see the quality of the items in opened chests which aren’t the current focus, so for those just grinding out reds, a cursory scan of the dots atop the screen will let you know if a red item was pulled from an opened chest.
The border on the [OPEN 5] button indicates the last action done, so you can repeat it by just pressing spacebar.
BATCH REWARD POPUPS
Whilst not the most common of problems, it’s certainly an egregious one when it raises its head. Previously, when a player was awarded a bunch of items whilst not in the game (say through the purchase of a DLC), each item would be awarded one a time when they next logged in. Now, when the player logs in, they will be presented with an interface showing them all the items obtained that they can browse at their leisure or simply close off and get back to the game. No more waiting to cycle through a train of pop-ups. Nice.
MORE INFO IN THE MISSION SELECT SCREEN
The Mission select screen has seen some love, now showing players information about completion statistics, such as which heroes have bested the mission and how many of the total collectibles have been found within each mission.
OKRI'S CHALLENGES QOL FEAT. A SEARCH BAR
Gone are the days where you have to flick through pages and pages of challenges to find the status of a specific ask from Okri. A search bar has been added allowing you to easily find a specific challenge and see its completion state. You’re also able to use text-based queries, such as reward:art or completed:true in order to bring up a list of specific challenges that meet the query.
These are the currently available filters:
Keyword
Filters on...
claimed
whether you’ve completed AND claimed the reward.
completed
whether you completed the objective of the challenge.
locked
whether the challenge is available for claiming, eg. own the required DLC.
Unity of Command II returns to its roots, 10 years to the day since the initial release of "Unity of Command: Stalingrad Campaign"!
After staving off the Soviet winter counteroffensive of 1941/42, the German Wehrmacht reclaims the initiative the following summer. Concentrating their forces in the south, the Germans once again slice through Soviet lines, aiming for the oilfields of the Caucasus and the industrial city of Stalingrad. But the Red Army has learned much from past failures and prepares to strike back in an overwhelming fashion.
In this DLC, you will command the multinational Army Group South in its bid to deliver a crippling blow to the Soviet war machine, while securing oil for Germany’s ongoing conquests.
Key Features
A 15-scenario historical campaign covering the German “Fall Blau” offensive and the Caucasus campaign, through the Soviet counterattack at Stalingrad and on to the Third Battle of Kharkov
A 9-scenario alternative history branch exploring what might have happened had the Axis focused their entire 1942 effort on the Caucasus
New specialists: Soviet T-60 and Lend-Lease M3 tanks, Marder tank destroyers, Sturm pioneers, and more
New unit models for Soviet mechanized troops, T-34/76 tanks, German SS Panzer Grenadiers, Italian motorized infantry, and more
Our toughest AI yet, capable of mounting major offensives that will keep your Romanians, Hungarians, and Italians reeling in shock and awe!
New music from Bruno Babić, including re-arranged tracks from the original Unity of Command (2011) soundtrack
Work on Map 3 is slowly but surely coming to an end.
Recently I have implemented a new type of customization, that is Pause Effects. You most likely noticed the addition to the Wardrobe menu early 2021 already. So far it only featured the ice freeze effect you unlock when you beat the Map 1 ice mode. In the future you will find 8 new pause effects:
VIDEO
Use them to customize your pogo character even further or to interact with other players. Point them in the right direction, rate their moves or show them your affection:
The Friends menu has been renamed to the Multiplayer menu and now lists an option to opt into pause effect related co-op functionality. Go ham with your friends and shortcut everything by jumping on helper blocks, grapes and even mushrooms (all indicated by eyes on said objects) or help out a stranger in need:
Note that using this feature will give time penalties as well as prevent you from getting certain if not most Map 3 achievements until you reset your run (a new entry in the Multiplayer menu notes if you have used co-op functionality, including rubber bands, this run). Additionally, the pause effect helper functionality is only available in Map 3 and will never be added to Map 1 nor Map 2.
If you paid close attention you might have noticed the pogo stick I was using. Behold, the Pro Stick:
The Pro Stick is made up of only the finest materials. A highly durable but lightweight carbon fiber hull as well as aircraft-grade aluminum reduce the weight by 37% compared to the basic pogo stick. Non-porous water-repellent rubber grips with True Gibster™ linings give the user maximum control. While lacking in comfort, the water-permeable Pro Stick foot pedals deliver ultimate grip, increasing confidence and ultimately results.
Pre-order now for only 279,-Eur. Some terms and conditions may apply.
Just a quick fix to incorporate the accessibility features of Ren'py 7.4.9 such as high-contrast text options and better text-to-speech. I also made buttons easier to click on, and fixed a bug where it could crash if your custom name had spaces in it.
