We love to bring you new game updates, especially ones that have been highly requested by our community! Today, we are happy to share with you that the 1.42 update is now in Open Beta for both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator and is ready to be tried and tested by you, our #BestCommunityEver.
Please keep in mind that this Open Beta is a work-in-progress build. If you plan on participating in this Open Beta, you can contribute by reporting any bugs you may encounter in the appropriate section(s) of our official forums. Your feedback and reports are extremely valuable for our team and we thank you in advance for taking the time to help us out.
Whilst our updates usually feature many new updates and changes, this update is focused more on introducing one new and big feature to our Convoy online multiplayer mode alongside some smaller updates and general fixes. With that in mind, let's take a look at what the 1.42 update has in store!
Convoy MOD Support
Support for third-party modifications in Convoy was a very loud request from our community when we first released our multiplayer mode. Since that time, our teams have made it a high priority on their list to support the use of MODs.
However, this was not an easy task for our team, especially when it came to the challenge of profile recovery when a crucial MOD is removed or changed, and visualizing what MODs are missing from the Steam Workshop when players join a server that contains modifications. We have done our best to overcome these hurdles, however, there may be a few things that might need tweaking and changing before we are fully satisfied with the results.
We have also created a completely new UI to accommodate MOD support. When you enter the session browser, you will see a new section on the right side listing the MOD compatibility requirements for the server. We have also included new icons for servers to let you know which servers have MODs enabled and which do not.
Previously, next to the server session, we indicated if you could or could not join the server using a red or green icon depending on if the session was full or due to problems with map compatibility or even with different game version numbers. We have now introduced an orange icon, which indicates you cannot join the server now, but via the new MOD synchronization UI you can download the missing modifications and join then!
If a modification is missing and it is available via the Steam Workshop, you will be able to download it via the Steam browser which will be overlaid in-game, so you do not need to exit the game to subscribe to it. This will be accessible by a new window that opens when you try to join a session where you have some missing MODs. This window will show you all your currently installed modifications on the left side and all the modifications the server is using on the right side.
If the server is using a modification that is NOT available on the Steam Workshop and downloaded via a third-party site, then you will need to source the modification yourself. Unfortunately, our system will not be able to check what version of the modification the server has or where it is sourced. Once you have everything required by the server, the confirm button will become available and you will be able to join the session.
We expect a majority of popular modifications to work from the get-go with this update, however, there may be some compatibility issues with others. Also, in some rare situations, using MODs in Convoy sessions during Open Beta might lead to corrupted profile saves. It is recommended to backup your profile data before switching to this beta branch. However, may you encounter a situation where your saves or profile gets corrupted or damaged, we really need you to report this to us with as detailed feedback as possible on our forum (ETS2/ATS).
MOD authors please be aware that some modifications will require some adjustments to work properly in Convoy. Sound modifications will be heard locally by the user, but other players will not hear them as remote trucks use a simpler soundbank (or they may just hear default truck sounds) if the modification is not configured to do so. Vehicles, Trailers, and Cargo modifications must also include proper traffic models for other players to see and interact with.
Our teams will continue working hard throughout the Open Beta and beyond to overcome the difficulties that may come with using third-party modifications in the convoy mode. Your help and contributions during the Open Beta will be extremely valuable to our teams, so please submit your bug reports and feedback on the appropriate sections of our forum (ETS2/ATS).
We look forward to seeing the many wonderful and creative MODs that will be used whilst convoying together with friends! We also plan to release a new FAQ in the future with more up-to-date information as we continue to work on the Convoy feature. You can find our first Convoy FAQ blog here, which answers the community's most popular questions!
Third-party modifications were used to create illustrative screenshots for this blog article. By choosing these publicly available MODs to make such screenshots we make no claim or endorsement of any kind that these MODs or their authors are officially supported, recognized, preferred, or recommended by SCS Software.
Force Feedback Update
1.42 also brings an update to our Force Feedback profiles for steering wheels and controllers which are compatible with Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator.
However, our QA doesn't have access to all the various controllers on the market, so during this Open Beta, we ask that you help us by submitting your feedback along with information about the wheel you are using. This will significantly help us make tweaks and changes so that all wheel users can benefit from this update.
Changelog

So enjoy all the new additions, but please remember: It's only an open beta, not a stable public version - so you may encounter bugs, instability, kinks, or crashes. It's completely okay if you want to wait for the final release. But if you're interested in helping us to get there faster, we'll appreciate all of your feedback on our forum and your bug reports in these sections - ETS2/ATS.
Please check our modding wiki to get details pertaining to mods for the game.

The way to access it is as follows: Steam client → LIBRARY → right-click on Euro Truck Simulator 2/American Truck Simulator → Properties → Betas tab → public_beta → Public Beta 1.42. No password is required.
This week we’re introducing probably the most important part of the Character Development system: Equipment! From now on you can progress your way through mastering various armors and weapons in the game to earn nice bonuses! Rest assured, as we promised, you are receiving a new tree properly unlocked in relation to your character level, and each character receives a proper amount of free experience to be able to master the equipment they are using.
Additionally, we are addressing a lot of recent players' reports and feedback, implementing a lot of fixes and improvements to the game. Disassembling the character development tree received a lot of love, including nice touches to the interface and fixes for reported issues. We are thankful for your help in finding reproductions of bugs and sharing with us important details which helped us to find the problems and remove them.
Our graphic artists were also able to get over the problem that prevented us from introducing nation-colored Glory Armors before, so you can finally enjoy their new visuals.
In accordance with the introduced Character Development systems, we are visualizing the skill of using armors and weapons to the tree of character development. Like the systems introduced before, this will give a better sense of progression to new players and create smaller goals to achieve, along with helping the ingame economy to be more variable and interesting.
In the beginning, the character can use weapons or armors of the lowest tier and with time in the game develops his abilities to become a master of them. DISCLAIMER: If you are a current player - you will have free experience and/or main trees unlocked already depending on your character levels!
Initial weapon tiers do not have narrow specializations due to the fact that this type of weapon offers slightly worse statistics and is not late-game. We would like the main hubs (marked with a larger square) to be unlocked without specializing in the previous tier, allowing a straight path to the best armament or armor.
Specialization in a particular field will be associated with bonuses, which, of course, will not be a game-changer, but will slightly strengthen the player who unlocked the full branch of specialization.
For example, rewards for mastering a given weapon can be:
For weapons: – Additional % to damage dealt – Reduced stamina per attack – Slower durability loss
For Armor: – Additional % to all damage reduction – Slower durability loss
For shields: – Additional % to all shield resistance – Reduced durability loss on block
You can earn the experience by killing mobs or participating in PVP in the open world as well as in solo and group arena duels!
As we forecasted earlier, we decided to give you free experience with the introduction of these trees. We are unlocking the main nodes of the trees of weapons and armor based on the character level. So you can wear any weapon or armor right away if you are on level 80 or above.
Everyone who already has logged into the game since the introduction of the first Character Development system will get Equipment main nodes unlocked and additionally 5.5 million free experience, scaled with levels (The value of the free experience given to level 100 is equal to 5500000. Lower levels scale down linearly so that 10th level gets 550 000 experience).
– Levels 1-19: No masteries unlocked – Levels 20-39: Unlocked Main Nodes: Tier 2 Armor, Tier 2 Weapons – Levels 40-59: Unlocked Main Nodes: Tier 3 Armor, Tier 3 weapons – Levels 60-79: Unlocked Main Nodes: Tier 4 armor, Tier 4 Weapons – Levels 80-100: Unlocked Main Nodes: Tier5 Heavy Armor, Tier 5 medium armor, Tier 5 light armor, Tier 5 Two-handed Weapons, Tier 5 One-handed Weapons, Tier 5 Bows
Players returning to the game, that is, those who have not logged in since the introduction of Character Development systems will also receive a proper free experience amount to progress their trees, but they will need to complete their masteries manually.
Addressing Players Feedback and Reports:
Thanks to our precious Community feedback and reports we are introducing numerous improvements and fixes. Just in the most recent month, over 30 of players' suggestions and feedback were introduced to the game! Thank you for your help and cooperation in making Gloria Victis an even better game!
Improvements and balance of Disassembling:
– Armor nodes have proper description now. – Main armor nodes for purple/blue have now 50% mod for disassembling light/medium/heavy. – Main weapon nodes for purple/blue have now 50% mod for disassembling 1h/2h/bows. – Items that do not have recipes now will be giving experience when disassembled. – Updated the icons of Heavy Armors, Weapons, and Bows in Disassembling Character Development tree – Balanced the experience values for Disassembling: Tier 4 Armors and Tier 4 Bows nodes require 30k of experience instead of 50k to be completed.
Quality of Life Improvements:
– Brandon, Ragi, Sirius Treasure Quests were replaced. They are now near those events, not inside them. – Final battle colliders are expanded to the whole guild castle area, to prevent some edge case issues. – Added old Scavenger to the elite animal's list which is used to complete “Kill Rare Animals” Daily Challenge – Left Mouse Button cannot be bonded to non-fighting actions anymore – Balanced workstation production to be less randomized. – Added nation colors onto Glory Armors. – Smoothed out the reflections rendering. – Removed ChD User Interface snap after opening Node’s detail panel. – Improved the visuals of the Character Development nodes and side panels. – Added new filters on the Map for icons shown on close zoom, for example, Dice poker, Logistician, Stablemaster – Progress tracker of character Development has been reworked, it will be merged and unified with the upcoming quest tracker in the following weeks. – Implementation of a system that increases the respawn time of guards on the smaller servers - to dynamically balance the gamer's experience based on the current server population. This change excludes respawn time of guards of Holy Temples outside the Daytime, the same as they don't generate Siege Points outside Daytime now.
Fixes:
– Fixed the issue where Rite events could be triggered twice at one time, which had an impact on spawn points, sometimes sharing them between different nations. – Fixed an issue causing there was a possibility to have two different State of War timers for one guild in a specified edge case when the guild had two castles and the SoW timer was changed by owners during the completion of the token on their other castle. – Fixed an issue causing map locations names to be missing on Rodrock Lumbermill and Dirmar Farm – Thanks to Community Reports, we fixed the issues causing some items to not be disassemblable. – Fixed an issue causing Campfires to be named as “Bonfire” on the player constructions window. – Fixed an issue where the buffs User interface position wasn't saved if you drag it holding the icon. – Fixed the issue causing colliders on the Guardhouse, used to detect hits from siege engines, were also blocking arrows shot by enemy players. – Fixed the visual issue causing Hitpoints and Stamina bars to overlap with buffs UI after opening fullscreen mode of User Interface. – Thanks to Community Reports and aid with reproduction, we fixed the trade system bug causing part of traded items to be lost during a trade when the same stackable items were traded back and forth with different quantities in one trade. – Fixed the issue where colliders of old ruins were still working on the original Volcano location. – Fixed an issue causing rebinding to use old bind while rebinding action. – Fixed an issue causing unlocking tier 3 weapons were not unlocking disassembling of one-handed blunts and one-handed spears.
Vagrus - The Riven Realms: Demo (Prologue) - Lost Pilgrims
Hey Folks,
On October 5, so only a few days from now Vagrus - The Riven Realms will leave Early Access, and in celebration of that, we are releasing this refreshed Prologue build.
Our recently published Devlog #58 post shares many details on what the 1.0 build will bring into the game. Also, in case you have not seen it yet, here's our Release date announcement trailer picked up by IGN.
The Prolgoue now catches up with the main game, and even gets ahead for the time being, so it's now the perfect time to dive back in.
Mercenary Tasks
These not only add a ton of variation and replayability but also go a long way in softening up story content and allow the running of a combat-oriented comitatus for players. Fair warning, though: just like none of the other income sources work by themselves, Mercenary Tasks do not either. Combine them with Trade Tasks, passengers, and stories, with an emphasis on whichever you prefer over the others.
Mercenary Tasks are received from factions. Each faction is unique when it comes to the ratio of Trade and Mercenary Tasks you can get from them as well as the type of mercenary contracts they hand out. Enemies in these missions can be almost any kind, from beasts to outlaws and Undead - even the mercenaries of other factions.
Targeting Overhaul
Companion Combat targeting options have been added to suit different play-styles. The changes include a number of options from the main menu that allow the configuration of the way you target your foes and friendlies during the fights in Vagrus. There are also visual upgrades, like Area Targeting boxes instead of the previous visual effects on the metal bases of the characters.
Revamped User Interface
Vagrus’ crew and settlement UI panes finally got some much-needed upgrades to make navigating the menu a more user-friendly experience. We previously covered some of the changes in Devlog #56, and you can even find a short video showcasing many of the changes on our YouTube Channel.
Important Note: Considering the extent of these improvements there is little to no chance that we broke nothing in the process. Assume that we did not want to make anyone's life harder. If you see something amiss, please flag it to us using the usual channels, like the inbuild reporting tool (F1 button), forums, and our Discord server.
Wanna see the full game released as early as possible with even more content? Please share our pages and posts with your friends through your favorite social media channel(s). Appreciate it!
Important note: Unless otherwise stated, all events and activities start and end with the server restart at 02:00 UTC.

After the end of the experiment, we will analyze data again and will decide if we need to run more experiments or what battle duration should it be for weekdays. Thanks for your patience, we hope to finish the experiments soon.

Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One’s release date is getting closer and closer - November 16th to be exact. To give you a further glimpse of how the game plays, we’ve prepared another trailer for you to check out. This time we wanted to give you a deeper dive into the game’s combat.
Although smart, Sherlock is certainly not a gun-toting superhero maniac. He must use his wits and brains in battle the same way as he does when solving a crime. If the time to fight comes, look closely and find your opponent’s weak spots, take advantage of the environment itself, or use your snuff box to daze them if they come too close to stun them to gain an advantage. Remember though, Sherlock’s strongest weapon is his mind. Work clever, not hard.
Killing is a last resort. If you do decide to gun down your foes, expect to hear about it from your companion Jon. It might impact how he perceives you. Having a disappointed Jon around you can be bad for your mental health.
However, if combat is not your thing, you can always choose to skip this part of the game by turning it off in the menu.
And finally, remember that you can pre-order Sherlock Holmes Chapter One right now, and receive additional content as well as the full Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments game. Just click the link below.
Players have reported that they are having issues with navigation while playing. Before the map and minimap was locked behind quests / ingame events. In this patch players will have the map and minimap unlocked when they enter the game but only within the spawn islands. When you start to explore and go further out towards new location you will notice that you no longer have a map. The map for each other areas must be discovered and / or collected while playing.
More food and wild crops
More wild crops are now growing in the nature. Go and gather them and check what tasty dishes you can use them in. All wild plants has a chance of giving you one or more seeds when collecting them. These can be planted in a planterbox if you have one. Remember to put water in the planterbox so the plant don't die.
Fixes
Campfire must now be turned on before crafting can be done. Same with the furnace. Alchemist cauldron recipes are now fixed to they display correct items. Fertilizer recipe fixed in Alchemist cauldron. Draw disance over the ocean now fixed. Same with the fog.
Keep reporting issue and giving feedback / ideas on discord and here on steam.
