What You Can Expect In The Act III Update
Act III - The Faded Peaks (Lv 36 - 48)
Leave the Azul Desert and continue your adventures in the Faded Peaks, an icy mountain region once home to the Vanai. Where Act 1 and 2 were much more open and vast, Act 3 features a challenging trek from base camp to summit - a more linear route but interspersed with multiple branching paths.
11 new enemy types to test your mettle.
5 new bosses - the Beholder, the Blue Dragon, the Hellserpent, the Hobgoblin Warlord ... last one's a surprise!
40 new Legendary items to discover.
Campaign Changes
You can now play a concurrent Campaign or Realms game on the same profile. Gone are the days of switching profiles or ensuring the current run is completed.
Campaign is now considered a persistent mode - continue playing with your party even after the Act has ended while you wait for Act 4 and endgame modes.
In campaigns, the Renown counter at the top now displays your lifetime amount.
An item Stash has been added to the Guild Hall and Operations Tent, allowing you to store items.
Exploration
Exploration is a new node mechanic that captures the spirit of the party venturing through an area, interacting with collectables, and making micro decisions.. When entering an Exploration node, a random map will be generated, littered with various interactive elements.
This feature is present in all Acts, and is intended to reduce the abundance of combat nodes.
Missions
First introduced as Kyreal's function back in Act 2, we had always wanted to cycle back to it and make changes to address its usability. With more of GQ's core features in place, we are ready to refresh Missions as an endgame feature.
Heroes that you've acquired can be set to focus on one of two missions.
While travelling, you can meet up to 3 heroes while in Explorations - interacting with them will trigger their mission, revealing an object of their interest or granting you a side benefit.
Kyreal now also sells Maps, and you can run them by him to trigger an Exploration.
Maps can also come in the form of Raid Maps, which are suped-up versions of normal Maps.
Camping
Updated camping mechanics. There are now more varied reward mechanisms, methods of interactions, as well as deterministic ways to gain the base benefits of camping (rest and recovery).
Previously, hero field abilities were gated behind artifacts. These abilities have been changed to be part of the heroes' camp abilities.
Instead of paying a lump Supply cost to set up camp, the cost has been transferred to specific actions, so there can be more granular usage of Supplies based on what the party requires.
Realm Mode
While this patch cycle gives more love to the campaign side of things, Realm Mode is not forgotten and enjoys all of the above changes in a modified form.
Weekly/All-Time leaderboards have been added.
These are a look at the major changes - read the Patch Notes to get the full scoop!
Thanks for reading. We will continue to work hard in bringing you more exciting features and improvements in the game. We thank you for your support and patience as we continue to build this game with you.
As always, we hope to hear your thoughts below on what we’ve put forth so far. Feel free to join us on Discord to chat with us.
And last but not least, if you haven't already, please consider giving us a positive review on Steam if you like how we are doing so far. It would really mean a lot to us. Thanks! :)
Outbreak Island will be participating in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, October 1-7. This means that during the festival everyone will be able to download the new demo and play OI!
Demo with plot
Rather than simply demonstrating the gameplay and gameplay mechanics, we decided to make your walkthrough as interesting and detective as possible. And that means that the demo version will contain a fragment of the story from the Outbreak Island story campaign!
In the demo, you’ll play as Howard Chapman trying to get out of a mysterious underground laboratory. Use your camera and flash to find all the evidence and escape the insane human test subjects. Learn the tragic story of the head of the laboratory, who became a victim of his own research. Eat, drink, heal wounds, look for resources, craft tools and weapons on the go — do everything you can to survive and reach the surface.
Different gameplay on each floor
The laboratory will consist of four completely different floors. On one of those floors players will have to act as stealthily as possible, on the other — try to survive in the pitch-darkness, and on the next one — solve the mystery of experiments and find evidence.
Become a Detective
Don't forget to add Outbreak Island to your Wishlist and subscribe to our Discord and Twitter!
To commemorate the eighth anniversary of FINAL FANTASY XIV, we proudly present a new collection of side stories with Tales from the Twilight! Take a glimpse at pivotal moments in the lives of the game’s beloved characters.
The Burden of Duty – A story about the early years of Yugiri and Lord Hien.
Lots of tweaks are included in version 1.6.8. Pop-up inventory menus have been added to your dashboard to help you keep track of items you have purchased, made, or found. Redesigned Phoenix Financial, your savings balance now earns interest when it reaches specific amounts. Updated the HELP computer's General tab. Increased the game completion tasks to 77. Various art enhancements and bug fixes. We hope you enjoy the game. Thanks for playing!
Project Existence Testing Environment - Olof - Arctic Theory
Hello everyone!
It’s been a while since we’ve released an update and we’re well aware that Project Existence has been quiet (and slightly broken) for a bit. That might sound like a negative thing, but for us it’s quite the opposite!
For those of you who have been with us for a while, you might know that Project Existence is our studio’s way of exploring new ideas and testing out what we’re working on in a live environment. Some of you might shake your head at us for having the prototype available on Steam, and others might find it interesting to follow us and see how the world evolves.
Either way, Project Existence is extremely valuable to us as a team, since it allows us to validate our work early on in the development process. For the past few months, our artists have been hard at work on realizing the game’s art style and visual language, and we have a ton of concept art coming through the pipeline! We’re excited to soon be able to share the results with you all.
But enough rambling!
The point of this post is to tell you we’re slowly going back to more frequent updates to Project Existence, implementing new features and mechanics for you all to try out! Our first priority is to stabilize the current build of the game and slowly introduce new features as we move closer to a larger update that we have planned.
We’ve just released a patch with some optimization and bug fixes:
New assets for resources. I didn’t think these trees could look any better!
Added some new points-of-interest in the world. Textures might be missing.
Implemented fast travel so you can easily get between places (for now)
Laid the groundwork for a new mission system
Players' state is now persisted, so your location and inventory is saved for when you log back in
Fixed a bug that caused invisible assets to spawn
In the coming weeks, we’ll be improving the missions system, but for now it pretty much looks like a debug menu. See if you can find and complete the current mission we have implemented!
That’s all for now! We have more stuff coming very soon, so be sure to join us on Discord to stay updated.

The jaguar was one of the most worshipped beings, not only by the Mexica but also by almost all of the Mesoamerica people. It was said that those who were born on the day of "océlotl" would be the best at war, that they would show their courage and strength.
It is also claimed that there were people who were capable of transforming into the powerful felines, who could acquire superhuman strength and knowledge.
With this inspiration and stories in mind, our artists have created this fantastic concept of the Jaguar Warlock, a character who expresses all of his power through the fur clothing with the characteristic spotted design of the jaguar, but who also has a mystical aura, like the jaguar himself, lord of all animals.
We have not yet defined his powers or abilities, but perhaps you, community of Mictlán can help us. What else would you like to see about this character?
He will surely be a very powerful ally or... enemy.

- Update to FNA 21.10 (technically releasing Friday, but eh) - Mostly to work around a Steam Deck OpenGL driver bug, but dramatically improves Vulkan/D3D11 support along the way
