FIFA 22

FIFA 22 Ultimate Team features the mode's long-standing and controversial loot boxes, EA has confirmed.

However, EA will use the preview packs it trialed towards the end of FIFA 21's life.

In June, under increasing pressure from governments, children's welfare groups and gambling charities, EA added the ability to see what's inside FIFA 21 loot boxes before you buy them.

Valheim

Smash hit Viking game Valheim will eventually be completed and have a final ending, developer Iron Gate Studio has promised, as today's big Hearth and Home update arrives.

There's no suggestion we are close to that yet, but Iron Gate said it wanted to eventually polish off the project and move on - rather than keep it continually updated as a live service game or an MMO.

"Spoiler alert: this game will eventually have an ending. There will be a definitive ending where you beat the game, just so people understand," artist Robin Eyre explained in a 30 minute fireside chat developer video.

343 plans to ditch Halo: The Master Chief Collection's seasons after Halo Infinite comes out, it's signalled.

Season 8, which launches later this autumn, may prove to be MCC's last season, as 343 moves away from the game's season model to focus on smaller updates "that can land when they're ready based on development status and studio roadmap alignment".

343 insisted these updates will continue to be free and will include the unreleased features and content from this year, and it will make a continued effort to improve stability and tackle legacy fixes where possible. "We still have a lot of goodness to deliver in 2022," 343's publishing team lead producer Michael "Farns" Fahrny said in a post on Halo Waypoint.

If On A Winter's Night, Four Travellers, an Itch.io breakout hit from indie developers Laura Hunt and Thomas Möhring, is coming to Steam later this month, releasing for free - like it is on Itch right now - on September 21st.

I played If On A Winter's Night, Four Travellers back in March and loved it. It's only a few hours long, featuring some mostly gentle point-and-click puzzling and a nicely gripping mystery. There are lots of literary references, lots of gothic horror, and lots - as you might have already noticed - of quite stunning pixel art, too.

It's "a ghastly little gem," apparently, with about 31,000 downloads on Itch. And free! You should check it out (and give that writeup from March a read if you're feeling extra generous, too).

Pokémon is more than just a series of core RPGs. Those are a major part of it, of course, but then so is the trading card game, and the anime, the movies, the cafés...

Even just within video games there's a huge range of weird and wonderful things to be played, from those legendary role-playing adventures, of course, to handheld recreations of arcade pinball, virtual photography expeditions, or edutainment CD-ROMs.

With that in mind, we've assembled our list below of the best Pokémon games based on any Pokémon video game that's released so far. Expect plenty of classics, of course, but also some proper hidden gems - it's often overlooked, but part of Pokémon's brilliance is its ability to surprise. So, in no particular order, here they are:

Destiny 2: Beyond Light Pack

Composer Marty O'Donnell has been found in contempt of court over his use of Destiny assets and now owes Bungie tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees, Eurogamer can reveal.

In April this year, Bungie served the celebrated composer behind the original Halo music with contempt of court papers over videos related to Destiny that were uploaded to O'Donnell's YouTube channel and other platforms.

Some of these videos were early musical sketches of what became Music of the Spheres, the much-loved musical foundation for 2014's Destiny.
