Improvements on various game systems (fog of war, dialogs, sleeping guards, guards vision).

Fog of war

Changes to which unexplored parts of the maps are shown behind a fog. The new system only reveals the next couple of unexplored tiles instead of the whole map layout. The main goals of the new system are:
  • Easily find out where there's more to explore
  • Don't give too much info about what's not explored yet (layout, secrets, etc.)
  • Look better

Sleeping Guards

Make waking guards more visible, and let the player have a chance to react before they're awake.
  • Instead of waking up instantly, sleeping guards will now always take one turn to wake up.
  • An alert is displayed on the screen when a guard is about to wake up.

Dialog system

  • Added a button to skip a dialog entirely.
  • Dialogs always wait for player input before going to the following line.
  • Added safety to avoid skipping a dialog line by mistake.
  • Better looking buttons!

Misc
  • Tweaked guards' vision to make it more intuitive and consistent.
  • Improved appearance for rugs
  • Improved appearance for alarms. They also play a visual effect when triggered by the player
  • Minor changes in levels (misplaced walls, etc.)

Fixes
  • Tooltips were too big to fit on the screen on some resolutions

Known bugs
  • Rarely, the game freeze for a couple of seconds on a specific action (for example, destroying a wall).
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy - Poticha
Twelve years ago, the Galaxy went through the Galactic War, leaving planets and people broken. In our story, Star-Lord and the Guardians joined up less than a year ago and are trying to behave as a group. Not gonna lie, they’re not there yet.



When our adventure begins, a bet between the Guardians goes awry and triggers chaotic events that pave the way for the Universal Church of Truth to set their evil plan in motion: their goal is to bring the “Promise” to everyone in the galaxy, claiming that it will bring back everything that was lost. Does it sound shady to you too?

The Church is gaining power quickly, and the Guardians realize they need to step up. But they’re outnumbered, and they’ll need all the help they can get. Enters Cosmo, an old friend of Star-Lord’s, who is the Head of Security of Knowhere. He also happens to be a telepathic space dog. You’re going to love him! Knowhere is his home, and he’ll go to great lengths to protect it.

The Guardians will also deal with the Nova Corps, the galaxy’s peacekeepers, who are led by a supercomputer called the Worldmind, an entity that preserved all the memories of the Xandar population. Obviously, getting their help won’t be easy.

As the Guardians start their fight to save the galaxy, Star-Lord will make an incredible discovery: his elemental blasters are more than a random weapon, and he actually has a special connection with them. This will come in handy when Star-Lord and his team face impossible situations, as he will learn how to use and control their power to their full extent.

New Feature Rotating Pieces

Puzzles can now support pieces being rotated.
On puzzles with rotated pieces players can single click to rotate a piece 90 degree clockwise.
Puzzle level structure modified to support this new feature. New levels are 3x3, 4x2, 6x3, 6x3 Rotated, 8x4, 8x4 Rotated, 10x5 and 10x5 Rotated. Levels with 14x7 and 16x8 pieces were removed as they were not fun especially now with rotated pieces. 12x6 puzzle may return at some point.

Game Interface Changes

Added Indicators on the left of the puzzle to show active functionality.
*Instruction indicator which can be clicked to reread the puzzle instructions.
*Tutorial indicator that is visible when the puzzle is in tutorial mode.
*Move Indicator that is visible when pieces can be moved.
*Rotation Indicator that is visible when pieces can be rotated.
Improved the look of the "Start Again" and "Level Selection" controls.
Added a 30 reminder to get up and stretch.

Puzzle Changes

Increased the size of the white boarder so edge pieces are now even more easily identified.
Added Instructions to the beginning of each puzzle.
When you select a puzzle you are always taken to the saved level the last time you played. This was confusing for some people since the option you clicked might say a level higher then was saved. To avoid confusion a message as was added "Loaded saved level ## puzzle" so they know why they had been brought to a lower level than they clicked.

Improved the "You have an puzzle unlock" message to include the number of unlocks you have if it is more than one.

Option Changes
==============
Added support for multiple languages. This includes all message, UI controls.
I do not speak multiple languages so I used Google translator. Feedback from native speakers of each language would be much appreciated.
Currently testing with only Spanish but if all goes well hope to add all Steam supported languages.

Today our brand spankin' new Prologue will be released from 8pm BST & we cannot wait to see what you all think of our progress.


This is has been a long journey for us, we're all super happy with how the game is shaping out & for the whole team it feels surreal seeing the beginning of our game come to life. We'd love to say a special thanks to our Backers out there who've made this a reality, as well as all those folks who helped out with some Alpha testing over the past few months. You're all legends.

The Prologue is approximately 45mins to 2hrs long, depending on your mad skillz. Everything in the Prologue will be featured in the full release of Project Grove. The only aspect we're anticipating to expand for the full release is potion crafting - but we can go through that on a later blog post!
